Teddy “Oscar”
The American Film Academy has taken perhaps the most unusual decision for many years. The consequences of it can be even more important than the change in the rules in some categories and attempts to flirt with a young audience. Leading anniversary awards ceremony, "Oscar" is assigned to the unknown to the vast majority of the audience filmmaker, in an asset of which is the pair of successful television projects and one feature film.
The last decade fighting steadily falling ratings ceremony "Oscar" literally shook the fever search of a decent shift Billy Crystal, the best host of the show until the great revolution of social networking.
75th "Oscar" - Steve Martin
76th "Oscar" - Billy Crystal
77th "Oscar" - Chris Rock
78th "Oscar" - Jon Stewart
79th "Oscar" - Ellen DiDzheneres
80th "Oscar" - Jon Stewart
81th "Oscar" - Hugh Jackman
82th "Oscar" - Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin
83rd "Oscar" - James Franco, Anne Hathaway
84th "Oscar" - Billy Crystal
As can be seen, have been tried every conceivable combination. The famous television personality, talk show host, a black comedian, Hollywood veteran actor class "A", even couples. They all share one thing: they are known and popular not only in the professional environment, but also around the world. These were the real stars. It did not work.
Moreover, the last ceremony though, and was ennobled by the return of another Crystal, but could not decisively change the situation. Ratings rose only slightly, probably due to nostalgic part of viewers. The feeling that "Oscar" is gradually evolving into a more application-packed "red carpet", needs a major shake-up was almost painful. It took quite a nontrivial solution with totally unpredictable consequences. And it looks like an Academy found something similar.
Seth MacFarlane.
He has no experience of playing in front of a large audience from the stage. His portfolio contains only occasional appearance on camera in various TV shows. In professional circles, he is known primarily as an animator and creator of several popular projects, including the most popular - it's "Family Guy." After all, he is virtually unknown to the audience, as appeared to them only with his cartoon characters. It would seem that he has none of the qualities that would justify his appointment as master of the anniversary ceremony.
But, McFarlane plays the piano good and has a voice that even compare with the voice of Frank Sinatra. He has a unique talent that allows him to articulate a virtually unlimited number of characters in a single project. He has a very peculiar sense of humor, bordering on the absurd. But that it does-created characters, like a talking goldfish with a transplanted brain of an East German skier, so popular.
Let’s cross our fingers in hope that Seth MacFarlane will surprise us no less than his regular alter ego - a teddy bear named Ted.
Session with the head of NBC: Robert Greenblatt
In Pasadena began a press tour of TV Critics Association (TCA). One of the first sessions was with Robert Greenblatt, who last year led NBC Entertainment. Prior to that, Greenblatt worked very successfully on Showtime. During the session, he talked about the situation as a whole, and individually about Prime Suspect, Community and Smash.
Greenblatt began the session very frankly. "We had a terrible fall, worse than what I had hoped for, this is precisely what I expected. They say that we have nowhere to fall, so we will grow. In the future it will be so, but until then we will have a lot of work. It's good that our investors (meaning Comcast, NBC Universal bought the year before) are willing to invest not only money but also time. Our most recent hit was launched 6 years ago (we are talking about 30 Rock). So the main problem with the new hits in the fact that we do not have decent lead-ins. "
Not surprisingly, Greenblatt mentioned in his speech experience on Showtime. "For half a year on NBC, I created four times as many good serials than in all the time on Showtime," - he said, speaking about such soap dramas as Prime Suspect, Whitney, Up All Night, Grimm, Awake and Smash. "At the cable channel, you can create series aimed at 18-year-old and be successful. On-air channels we have to think about a wider audience. "
In addition, Greenblatt tried to explain some failures this fall. "The Prime Suspect the cable would be extended after the three series, has been declared a hit, and was a successful four years. The failure of the Prime Suspect has become the biggest disappointment. Perhaps the character of the heroine was too harsh? Too cable? As it turned out, this year the audience like fairy tales and comedies, but not harsh police show. The concept of The Playboy Club is also not supported by the viewer. We thought people interested in this topic, it was not. It is impossible to predict. "
I could not remain silent and the head of NBC about Community. He also reminded that, as mentioned earlier, the series has not been closed, and the new series will be scheduled in the spring channel later. However, the fate of the show next year did not predict. "This is a very complex issue, I can’t answer now. We show an unusually loyal audience, but alas, it can’t be expanded. In the series have long been horrible ratings. "
Greenblatt said that NBC plans to launch a wide-ranging new series Smash. However, Greenblatt is not going to put everything on Smash. "The success or failure of Smash will save us and not destroy. But we hope that Smash will be one of the turning points in history of NBC. However, to change our situation, we need not one, but five or six successful shows. We would like Smash was one of them. But if it would not, we will not die. "
Nominees of TCA Awards 2011
TV critics have named nominees for its annual award TCA Awards, whose winners will be announced during the summer press tour in July and August this year.

News about “Glee”
When Gwyneth Paltrow will return as a substitute teacher Holly Halliday, in an episode of "Glee" on 8 March, she will teach students sex education. "We're a little confused in our sexual knowledge!" - jokes Heather Morris (Brittany).
Holly will help to understand this Brittany, who "still believes that the stork brings the children" - says Heather, and Finn will discover that the girl can’t get pregnant in the bathroom, no, actually without "sex" - adds Cory Monteith. This stark reality with dethrone just began flirt with Quinn.
Some of her lessons will be very useful. "She will show us how to put condoms on bananas," - says Jenna Ashkovits (Tina). Harry Noise (Mike) said "I’ve gotten zucchini". Holly will also help Santana to reveal her bisexuality and show her secret side to her new boyfriend Sam (Cord Overstreet). "Sam is certainly conservative guy - said Cord. - But now he is taken by her strength".
It is not surprising that Emma will be dissatisfied with such a carefree approach of Holly to sexuality, especially after she will see their kiss with Mr. Schuster. "I am delighted with our kiss - says Matthew Morrison. - Gwyneth calls it her "free working kiss". At least, so she tells her husband".
New season on CBS channel
Finally we got to the CBS panel, which, according to journalists, was the most boring. After all the channel is good, it leads in total viewers and all the new series of the channels have been extended for a full season.
The very first question to the president of the channel Nina Tassler was a question about Charlie Sheen, who arranged another drunken brawl in the company of supermodels and porn stars. "What an unexpected question - joked Tassler, - But seriously, we're all very concerned. And how else? As people and his friends we are concerned because he has a family and children. But on the other hand, Charlie is professional. He comes to work (which is not always true - since the last adventures of Charlie he was not on scene). He does his job well, and his series - a hit. He knows that we are worried for him".
Hawaii Five-0. Tassler said that by the end of the first season in the series will add a female character. For a time, until we met with the forces for the transfer of this material, there was news that the cast of Hawaii Five-0 was supplemented with actress Larisa Oleynik. Oleynik will play a former CIA analyst Jessica Kay. For the first time the character appears on our screens in March.
"Idol" on Thursdays. Tassler acknowledged that the move of "American Idol" on Thursday is a threat to CBS. But Nina Tassler also correctly predicted the stability rating of The Big Bang Theory. "Theory" has very loyal audience, besides, I'm sure, viewers will be enough for everyone – and for "Idol" and for our comedies."
Blue Bloods. Tassler said that the channel is very pleased with those ratings, which are Blue Bloods collected on Fridays, so management decided to give a chance for TV series on Wednesday.
Bleep My Dad Says. Tassler acknowledged that in the creative plan this serial has a lot of work. "Any TV series in the first year of life have a lot to fix." In her opinion, the series has already made some important steps toward increasing the quality. In particular, a significant step forward would be an arch with Jean
Smart. The fate of the series will be decided in May.
NCIS. Tassler immediately brushed off all the speculation about the extension of the contract with Mark Harmon, which expires this season. "We are confident that Mark will remain in the series. He is satisfied with everything and we are glad to have him. But negotiations over the renewal of the contract - it's a natural process for our business".
Flashpoint and The Bridge. Canadian police drama Flashpoint returns this summer to broadcast of CBS. The channel has 6 episodes in reserve. But Canada's The Bridge will not order more on CBS. This decision of CBS has led to the closure of The Bridge in Canada, as a few days after the panel announced the Canadian channel CTV. Therefore, the previously announced second season of The Bridge will not be released.
Pilots. Despite the fact that the program list of the channel lineup of competitors nervously biting their elbows, CBS will order as many pilots this year, as in the past. Although there are no holes in our schedule, those new series that we will order, receive different timeslots.
Who earns more on television?
TV Guide has shown a fascinating list of the most-earning celebrities on television in its various areas. List, of course, is far from complete, it lists only those names whose salary has learned publication.
This year, the channel and the studio set to a rigid policy of limiting the fees of the principal stars of new products. In previous years, the salary could vary from 150 to 200 thousand dollars, but in this bracket dropped to 75-125 thousand. "This year no one has break the bank" - says one TV Guide insider.
For example, in the pilot season, an unnamed veteran of the movie, which for many years a number of channels were asked to play in the series, has requested a salary of 250,000 per episode, but the channel and the studio flatly refused. Actor tempered his zeal to 200 thousand, but even then he was followed by a refusal.
Series veterans can also cut a budget. Brothers & Sisters, for example, once had four actors who received 150 thousand, but now retired from the show Rob Lowe, and next season will be only 18 episodes instead of the usual 22. Recently, Marg Helgenberger has signed new contract with CSI, did not get allowances, but her work schedule will be significantly reduced, and she will not appear in all episodes. CBS before the new season has tested tactic of replacing veteran to novice in some of his dramas, which, again, cut the budget.
Naturally, if the show gathers ratings record, there are no questions about the budget problems.
The actors of the rating TV series - The Big Bang Theory - now earn less than 100,000 per episode. But soon they are probably waiting for a solid gain.

Top 10 rated episodes of the decade
List of top ten ranked episodes on television now makes us fall into nostalgia. No ether after 2006. With the ever increasing teleuniverse, a piece of cake for each channel becomes smaller, and we hardly ever see such a list. It includes maximum one episode from each show.
1. Friends
Date: May 6, 2004
Attendance: 52.5 million
Last episode of "Friends" finale was the golden age of comedy on television, as well as the beginning of the decline of channel NBC. At the time the final "Friends" became the highest rating ether entertaining show for six years and remains so to this day.
2. Survivor:
Date: August 23, 2000
Attendance: 51.7 million
"Survivor" at the time was a new program, started in the dead summer months. However, the August finale nearly broke the finale of "Friends". Viewers have discovered that a new genre of "reality show" does not always win the goodies.
3. Joe Millionaire
Date: February 17, 2003
Attendance: 40 million
Another reality show, marching for one season. Continued in the form of The Next Joe Millionaire could not attract the same audience.
4. ER
Date: February 17, 2000
Attendance: 39.4 million
Week earlier, a schizophrenic patient attacked Lucy Knight and John Carter, leaving the two doctors to bleed. Viewers wanted to see who in the episode "All in the Family" will survive. It is considered one of the most dramatic episodes of the series.
5. American Idol
Date: Jan. 16, 2007
Attendance: 38.1 million
The sixth season premiere of "American Idol" was the peak of show popularity. Until then, each new season is about a larger audience than the previous one.
6. Grey's Anatomy
Date: February 5, 2006
Attendance: 38 million
Code Black! (Warning about the bomb or evacuate due to bomb). The episode, which came after the Super Bowl, has managed to attract the attention of football fans. Dud that was inside the patient can not draw attention!
7. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Date: May 3, 2000
Attendance: 36 million
36 million - total viewers over three episodes of "Millionaire", which ran in the same week in May. ABC has often been criticized for what they put on a show three or even four times a week. Perhaps this was the main cause of the short history of the show.
8. Frasier
Date: May 18, 2000
Attendance: 33.7 million
The seventh season finale "Fraiser", spinoff "Cheers", was the most rating in the history of the series.
9. Everybody Loves Raymond
Date: May 16, 2005
Attendance: 32.9 million
Final LP sitcom, in which the main role played Ray Romano.
10. Spin City
Date: May 24, 2000
Attendance: 32.8 million
It was not even the final of the series. Such a large audience gathered last episode with Michael Jay Fox, who left the show because of worsening symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Day news
1). The famous Hollywood actress and popular singer Jennifer Lopez has agreed to become a judge on the popular TV show "American Idol." According to People magazine, for participation in the program she has gotten very impressive fee - $ 12 million.
It is, however, noted that originally, the actress demanded a large sum, as well as negotiating contracts related to the television and film projects, but the leadership of FOX studion, refused to meet her requirements. Who will be in jury together with Lopez in 10-season "American Idol" has not been yet confirmed.
Recall that the last work of Lopez in a big movie was a role "The Back-up Plan".
2). Ron Perlman, whom we love above all for the film "Hellboy", where he practically without makeup portrayed himself a real demon is back in business! This time he will play in a thriller titled "Drive", where the discussion focuses on a retired racer, who in his spare time works led to the robbers.
And one poor guy gets in trouble with an angry ex-prisoner and his beautiful girlfriend. Unfortunately, it is unclear who of these three characters will play Perlman, we will have to wait for the trailer. In the film will be stared such actors as Ryan Gosling and Carrie Mulligan. The movie will be directed by Danish citizen Nicholas Uaynding Refn, who has not yet proved to be anything decent. In general, we shall see!
3). Filming of the next, the 23rd episode about "James Bond" will start in summer or early fall of 2011. It is alleged that the timing of work on the project have been clarified, since brightened the future of film studio MGM, which is to declare bankruptcy before the end of this year.
In this regard, the director Sam Mendes, who was to assume the post of director patterns, adjusted his schedule, giving up several promising projects. The main role in the movie performed by Daniel Craig. Recall that the previous part of the "James Bond", called "Quantum of Solace" has earned a worldwide box office over 588 million dollars.
4). Vin Diesel and director David Twohy working on animated series, which will be linked with the third feature-length film dedicated to Richard P. Riddick. It is possible that the series will be a link between the second and third parts of the franchise.
Recall that in the past Cannes Film Festival Film Market Vin Diesel presented to potential buyers a picture "The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead man stalking".
It was reported that the plot of Riddick is alone in a strange planet inhabited by nightmarish creatures, such as "mud demons." Thus, David Twohy intends to return the franchise to its roots. So, stylistically the film will resemble the "Pitch Black".
