Tom Cruise about his next hero
Tom Cruise in a few words described his attitude to the image of his new hero, Jack Richer, which he played in the thriller "One Shot" from director and co-writer Christopher McKuorri. The full interview with the actor, you will be able to see at the December issue of Empire.
Between the studio Paramount Pictures and director Christopher McKuorri there were some differences, mainly relating to candidates for the role of Tom Cruise - Jack Richer, the hero of English writer Lee Child.
"I have to say, I am very scrupulous in this matter," - Tom Cruise explains his agreement to play Richer.
"This is a Lee book and this is his hero. He has blessed me in this role, and that was the only reason I play Richer. If it were not for Lee, I would not pretend to the role of Jack."
The biggest question from the fans is the difference in growth between Richer and Cruise. Artist says: "Lee told me that the reason he gave Jack 38 size of shoes is that this size is one of the constituent elements of the image of his character, which opens all the doors in front of me, metaphorically speaking."
"Richer - great character," - adds the actor. "He does not use a cell phone, as well as he does not have an e-mail. He pays cash. People look at things through the prism of colors that make up their lives, Jack does the same as we would like to do sometimes, but were afraid to do it. In this he looks like a Dirty Harry, James Bond and Josie Wales.”
Announced premiere date of "One Shot" - February 8, 2013.
Interview with Kristen Stewart
Stewart has given an interview to resource Boxoffice about the final part of the saga "Twilight. Saga. Dawn. Part 1" and the "Snow White and the Huntsman".
- Kristen, you have almost affinity with your heroine Bella. How did you together survived the transformation from human to vampire?
"Normally, but it was a strange feeling. We were so long at the same time shooting two films that, for me they are merged. For the film-making process in the order of things to shoot a scene not in chronological order, so I tossed back and forth between Bella, the person Bella-vampire and Bella pregnant. There were so many different physical states of Bella, just drive you mad. I remember my first scene in which I play a vampire, because before I just looked at it, as did my friends on the site. Of course, I looked unconvincing, on the other hand, it is Bella the vampire has become my favorite way. She - a typical representative of the elders, the heads of the clan. She has an incredible intuition, almost on psychic level, what of it was not expected, and it is very interesting. Perhaps it is as something to do with Stephanie, because she obviously does not receive a significant share of respect due to her amazing abilities and talents. So, becoming a vampire, Bella gets what so long wished for, and the new status does not scare her. "
- Now you're busy on the set of film "Snow White and the Huntsman" in which Snow White appears as a hateful princess-warrior. What fighting style do you prefer?
"You know, it is difficult to play an "action heroine", which in combination is the most pitiful girl in the world. You can’t hate. You heal suffering heart. Snow White is a kind of last ray of hope for their land. She has divine, spiritual relationship with her people - she really gets into the essence of things - and so we like and do not want her to empathize. With this film I did a couple discoveries . I think if you care about other people's suffering, not just mentally put yourself in the shoes of the victims and then say, "Oh, my God, I feel so sorry for them." The meaning of your struggle is to eliminate the reason why people suffer. Most of all Snow White is struggling with evil - fighting with the most vile bastards, and it is reat when they die. It makes her suffer, suffer, literally. She does not find pleasure in that pain at least to someone else. I was physically exhausted and had recently thought, "Well, soon begin to shoot scenes of fighting, maybe it will not be so bad." But then I realized that these scenes are likely to be the most emotional and yet, because I, Snow White, kill people.
Paul Walker in French remake of “District 13″
Pierre Morel thriller "District 13" will turn into remake called "Brick Mansions". The movie script has been written by Luc Besson seven years ago with a view of American reality. David Bell, who played a major role in the original, will back in the English version together with Paul Walker.
The film was developed in Paris in 2010, which because of rampant crime, some very dangerous areas fenced off from the wealthier districts by a concrete wall. Behind the wall is thriving trade in arms and drugs, the schools and hospitals don’t work, the police protects only themselves, and a ball is ruled by gangs. The leader of one of them had acquired himself a neutron bomb, and to eliminate it, in the 13th District is sent special forces officer Damien. Damien together with Leyte (David Belle), whose sister kidnapped by the same gang leader, starts the war inside the district.
"District 13" was the directorial debut work of Pierre Morel. His second picture has become "Taken" thanks to which the director has received worldwide recognition.
City, where there will be actions of "Brick Mansions" is not yet known, but most likely it will be Chicago. Paul Walker plays undercover detective, searching for weapons of mass destruction, stolen by drug dealer of ghetto brick mansion. Detectives appealed for help to an expert on the region Lino (Belle), the only person who is not afraid of the bandits.
It is known that many Hollywood actors would get the role of Leno, but Luc Besson did not want to run a remake in production, if this role is played by David Belle, parkour founder of the global movement.
Remake is produced by Europa Corp, owned by Besson. While not called a name of director, but most likely it will be another protege of Luke.
Paul Walker will star in "Brick Mansions" before go to the set of "Fast and the Furious 6."
Milla Jovovich criticizes Summit studio
Adventure thriller "The Musketeers" of Paul W. S. Anderson has started in the U.S. last week, having collected only 8.8 million dollars at the moment. Film star Milla Jovovich in her Twitter has accused studio Summit in lack of advertising. The studio has answered.
On the way to Tokyo, where the "Musketeers" opens film festival, the actress wrote: "Today, in the U.S. will start "The Musketeers"! Do you think the audience knows about the film? Ask your friends! Do they know that this is a family movie?" Milla continued: “Does Summit generally advertise the film as an adventure and family? Or do they repose on their laurels after the "Twilight" and do not put any effort? Tell me!”
At this Milla has not stopped. "I think, Summit is trying to merge the beautiful rolling adventure family film "The Musketeers" in the U.S. SHAME, SUMMIT”. Then followed the next tweet: "The Musketeers"-entertaining movie for the whole family, nothing to do with "Resident Evil". People do not even know that they can take children with them at the cinemas".
The whole Friday evening Hollywood noised about words of Milla, well, Saturday morning studio Summit replied to Jovovich via the website Deadline.
"As far as we know, the actress was in Canada, where removed in the next part of "Resident Evil", working 15 hours a day and will likely not see an ad campaign of "Musketeers" in the U.S. She has no idea what she is talking about and we are not entirely clear what’s going on with her".
Representatives of the studio are a little upset with behavior of the star: "Oh she would call and say what she thinks."
"The Musketeers" earned a worldwide box office total of just over 73 million dollars. The budget belt is about 90 million. Critics have branded the film and an American audience is also not interested in adaptation of Dumas' books.
Leonardo DiCaprio will play Russian killer-samurai
Another novel of Don Winslow has gotten into the grip of Hollywood producers. A book, entitled "Satory" is a prequel to the novel of Trevanyan "Sibumi" and tells about the formation of the master of the games “go” and most highly paid political assassin in the world. The main role is assigned to Leonardo DiCaprio.
"Satory" - the fourth book of Winslow, which will be the basis for the film. To date, there is only one adaptation of the book - thriller "The Death and Life of Bobby Z".
The novel "Sibumi" was released in 1979. The protagonist - Nicholas Hale, brought by Russian aristocrat mother and Japanese stepfather, was born in Shanghai, for a long time growing up in Japan where not only mastered the martial arts, but also obtained good skills in “go” game. In his book Trevanan talks about some kind of mysterious organization, which tried in the late 70's to achieve world domination. And only Nicholas is able to enter into confrontation with the organization.
Don Winslow has written a prequel to the novel of Trevanyan, which was published in March this year. At the beginning Nicholas Hale is controlled by American prison in Japan. In the yard is 1951. If Nicholas wants to be free, he first will have to make a suicide mission - to remove George Voroshenin, the Soviet ambassador at China. Hale begins life a French arms dealer and goes in search of Voroshenin. Over time, he will face the American, Chinese, French and Soviet intelligence services, the criminal syndicate of Viet Nam and the Corsican mafia.
The studio sees a potential franchise in a thriller in the style of Born.
Shane Salerno wrote screenplay, adapted "Savages" of Winslow for Oliver Stone, as well as "Armageddon" and "Shaft." It is interesting that DiCaprio met with Stone for his role in his "Savage" but could not agree on work schedule. It seems that Leonardo liked the prose of writer, so he did not miss the opportunity to play in a film adaptation of Don Winslow's new novel.
The question is: when will DiCaprio find the time? Now the actor is shooting in Baz Luhrmann's "Great Gatsby" and in his plans for at least another five films including the "Django Unchained" by Quentin Tarantino.
TV seris extensions, closures and much more
Cable channel USA extended the three summer series: Covert Affairs (for the third season), Royal Pains (the fourth) and Necessary Roughness (the second). All three received an order for 16 new episodes. This year, the USA showed a record eight in the summer series, and all of them, except for completed Law & Order: CI, were renewed for next season. The rest: White Collar, Burn Notice, In Plain Sight (the last season) and novelty Suits.
ABC Family can’t boast anything like that. Novelty of the channel The Nine Lives of Chloe King was forced to close after one season. But The Lying Game received an order for an additional 12 episodes. Previously also been extended a new Switched at Birth.
Fox increased its seventh season of Bones from 13 to 17 episodes. As you know, showing the series because of pregnancy, Emily Deschanel is divided into two parts - the fall from November 3, and spring (between The Finder). These additional episodes will be released probably in the summer or at the request of the channel will remain for next season. Because of this uncertainty, the plot will end the season on the 13th of the series.
If you have not heard a sudden, it just in case report: AMC shared the show's second season The Walking Dead in two parts. The first six episodes, including a 90-minute premiere of the season, will be released this year (October 16), while the other seven - from 12 February 2012.
Lifetime will not extend the drama The Protector for the second season. Novelty is not too successfully launched in June (1.9 million viewers), retaining only 50% of the lead-in (Army Wives). Another summer novelty, Against the Wall, is still going.
Across the Atlantic there are strict laws of television too. The British channel BBC2 closed comedy thriller Psychoville after two seasons. The last episode was released in June this year.
Steven Soderbergh explained his participation in “Hunger Games”
Award-winning American director Steven Soderbergh has recently announced his retirement from the movie, but at the same time appeared on the site of the upcoming film adaptation of "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. Moreover, acted as a filmmaker of the second crew.
But everything becomes clearer, given the long friendship of the author of "Traffic" and director of "The Hunger Games" Gary Ross. Just recently Soderberg commented on his participation in the creation of a picture to the blog Moviefone.
"It's very simple. In April, Gary Ross (he is my close friend with whom I exchanged continuously creative suggestions for the last 15 years) received the consent of the shooting. He called me and said, "Hey, in the first week of August I will have a couple of days for the second crew. Do you have the opportunity to come and help me? I prefer that it was you who did it, than to hire someone unfamiliar. " I replied: "Yes. We're just finishing "Infection" and preparing for the "Magic Mike", yes, it can be fun. "
"After a couple of months, I declare and get down to business. Of course, speaking about the general design of the film, the most interesting is that my job was to come in and done exactly duplicate Harry and operated by Tom Stern. Simulate them in terms of style, as far as I can. This is trying to do. But if I'm doing my job properly - I hope that everything just so - in terms of style, you can not say where here is my statement. Because the installation is supposed to give seamlessness footage. That's it. That's why Gary asked me to come to him because I knew that I would do everything in strict accordance with the material. "
The film tells of the harsh world of the future, where teens are forced to take part in a deadly battle with each other. The movie release is scheduled on 22 March 2012.
Paul Greengrass is thinking about “Fear Index”
The director, who made his name on spy thrillers about amnesiac agent James Bourne, a very long time is trying to choose his new project. Since Universal has refused to fund the biopic about Martin Luther King "Memphis", Paul Greengrass went through a lot of projects. Another can be a film adaptation of Robert Harris's new novel, "Fear Index".
Greengrass has been proposed to shoot remake of "Fantastic Voyage", which eventually went to Sean Levy. Interestingly, all the same Shawn Levy can take on the project "Frankenstein" for the studio Fox, who was also originally offered to Paul Greengrass. Director of "The Bourne Ultimatum" was flirting with the biopic about Cleopatra, with the thriller "Race", which took place Ron Howard, as well as the history of the brave captain of the ship "Maersk Alabama". Will Greengrass shoot a drama with Tom Hanks, yet it is not known, but there are rumors that this project will find another director.
The new object of director interest became not yet published novel by Robert Harris "Fear Index." The hero of the book, a brilliant scientist, Alex Hoffman, creates a very lucrative hedge fund, based on the computer, able to predict human mood swings. Hoffman world is turned upside down when a burglar breaks into his house and makes the encounter with one of the most unpleasant human emotions - fear. After some time in the financial markets starts panic and the world begins to change.
The novel will be published in Britain in September, and in the States - in January of next year. Robert Harris personally will write the script. Note, that the novels of the writer have already been filmed several times, including "Enigma" and the recent "Ghost" by Roman Polanski.
Thus, a list of unfilmed movies of Paul Greengrass can be replenished with another project. But we still hope that at least one picture of the above, director will bring to the big screen.
Who will join Tom Cruise in “Oblivion”?
The new film of director of the second "TRON:Legacy" Joseph Kosinski is required just two actresses. Tom Cruise has long been attached to the project, which was formerly called "Oblivion". Now the picture is called "Horizons", and among the contenders for the major female roles are Olivia Wilde and Olga Kurylenko.
Initially, Kisinsky project took root at Disney, but in March this year, the studio felt it too old and refused funding. The picture was picked up by Universal, which today looks unusual: in the light of the closure of several big-budget projects to run a fantastic picture on original material is at least risky. And judging by the actions of the studio, Universal is not going to risk.
The protagonist of "Horizons", a former soldier named Jack, is engaged in repairing aircraft, which patrol the surface of his earth dwellers of the planet, more unfit for life after the alien attack. Earlier descriptions of the plot came across a woman, returning from an expedition to Mars. Jack showed her in an aircraft, crashed in front of him. Now, however, this precision is lowered.
Over the weekend, Kosinski will try a few actresses in leading roles in "Horizons." For a film takes two actresses. One of them will play Victoria, assistant and lover of Jack and the other - Julie, on which the hero is going to marry before the alien attack on Earth.
Pretenders are: Jessica Chastain of the "Tree of Life," Olivia Wilde from "House", Olga Kurylenko of “Quantum of Solace", Numi Rapas from "Prometheus", and Brit Marling - actress, screenwriter and director, whose name in recent days often glimpsed in the news.
The plot of "Horizons" is based on graphic novel of Kosinski. Comic has been published by Radical Publishing, but the name does not change, and leaves "Oblivion." The producers decided to rename the picture for video game Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
By the way, no day is complete without news of the closure of certain Universal projects. It became known today about the refusal of the studio from the movie of Mary Herron “Wicked Lovely”.
William Monahan will write the script to the “Sin City” sequel
It seems that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller decided to add the weight to the sequel of film adaptation of the graphic novel "Sin City" and hired the author of "The Departed," William Monahan for polishing of an already existing script.
Monahan wrote scripts to Ridley Scott's two paintings - "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Body of Lies." He shifted to Western-style Hong Kong thriller "Infernal Affairs", making it a crime drama "The Departed." This work brought an “Oscar” to the screenwriter.
Now, Monaghan will revise existing script of Frank Miller "Sin City 2". In July of this year's Robert Rodriguez said that the financing of the sequel is finally settled, and the shooting will start as soon solved the problem with the script. It is likely that even before the end of this year.
Who of the actors return to the continuation of "Sin City" is not reported. By using a shooting Rodriguez did not need to have all the heroes on the court. Therefore, the actors schedule will be flexible and will even get very busy stars. According to rumors, the central characters in the sequel will be the heroes of Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba, but again, accurate information on this issue yet not proved.
William Monahan after receiving a prestigious award is not sitting idly by. He tried his hand at directing, shooting thriller "The Bodyguard", wrote scenario to "Horizons" - the project by Joseph Kosinski with Tom Cruise, and will soon be working again with the director of "The Departed" - Martin Scorsese's, with whom he recently signed on to shoot a remake of "The Gambler".
