Noomi Rapace prefers to work with difficult people: interview

Noomi Rapace, who performed the lead role in the thriller of Niels Arden Oplev "Dead Man Down," in an interview talked about working on a project.

- So, you met again at the same set with Niels Arden Oplev.

"At this time, I think, has been a little bit different. When we did "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and Lisbeth lived in me, I was much angrier and more aggressive. There was not a drop of patience in me. Sometimes, I came to studio and began to wind up, "Why are we marking time? What are we waiting for? Can already start to move?" In this project, I'm calmer. I think Niels expected some big explosion on my part. Once, when I was so very quiet, he was startled, "Oh, no! We have to move!" He's very quick-tempered, and I do too. We are full of emotions."

- How did Colin Farrell fit in this mix?

"Colin and I have become close friends. Most of the film we shot in Philadelphia, and the site was built in the harbor, that is quite far from the city. On the road took about 40 minutes, so we practically built our own world on the site. We had trailers, we made fires, our kids were running a race with the dog, so it was like a gypsy camp. Sometimes Nils came from the studio and wondered: "What is good? What are you laughing? There's nothing funny!"

- What do you feel looking in the mirror at the scars, furrow your face for the role? How did it affect your perception of yourself?

"I began to think seriously about what beauty means in our lives. For women around the world is very important to be attractive and look good. People are paying more attention to you, if you look a certain way, they listen to you. You can get a lot of bonuses if you are happy owner of a beautiful face. I felt strange when something walking in Philadelphia in makeup, that is, with the scars. I bought coffee and people stared at me. Similar feelings I felt when for the role of Lisbeth shaved half a head, dyed my hair black and get pierced. I had to go to the bank, and I remember that bank employees were rude with me. Then I thought: "Why do they ignore me? What's going on?" To them, I was just a punk. People love to judge. My character has built her life, using her own beauty. She works in the beauty industry, and then one accident destroyed her life. When we see her in the film, she looks terrible. Yeah, it's all scarred, but, in my opinion, it does not make her look like a freak. Since that terrible event a year passed, and she passed through a series of surgeries, but she is not able to realize that changes are actually occurred. She is fixated on the fact that she lost".

- Were you nervous at the thought that you have to be working with such celebrities as Isabelle Huppert, who played your screen mother?

"No. You know, every time I hear about some interesting and complicated person, I immediately want to work with her. I like creative people, and usually also the ones who are full of passion and struggles in what he believes. I find them interesting. I would rather work with difficult people, than with those who all said "yes." Before I agreed to appear in "Sherlock Holmes 2", I was told that Robert Downey Jr. may be completely unmanageable, because he wants to make his own way, and all attention should be focused only to his person. But I did not see it. We read the script, assorted characters, different scenes, and Robert has something to offer, and then I said, "Yes, I agree!" He looked at me and asked, "What are you, cut me off now?" And I replied, "Yes, because I agree with you." To this he said: "Oh, I love you!" I'm not afraid of strong people, just communicating with them is a little bit dramatic shade."

- What happens to your career so far? Do you plan to live in Hollywood?

"I live in London. When you work hard, you have no right home. Next two months I'll be on the set in New York. And then, I'll go to Prague for a month. Then will come back to London. I often travel to Los Angeles, where I have a job."

- Do you want to combine Hollywood and European cinema?

"Yes. I also think that the whole film industry is becoming more and more integrated. Europeans work in Hollywood, and "Sherlock Holmes 2" and "Prometheus" we shot in London. Industry turns into a single organism."

- Are you already fluent in English?

"Yes. I've never been a good student in school, and as a teenager was insane. I went to a school that did not set homework, and I did not know how to write or read up to 14-15 years. So when started the fuss with the Millennium trilogy, and I began to participate in press conferences, I could not properly explain and understand the question. It was horrible. I felt retarded monkey. So I decided to find a way to do this language a native and be fluent in them, not translating in Swedish and Icelandic. This morning I was in the gym and doing sit-ups, thought "Fuck, I unconsciously think in English!" And I have dreams in English. Process has started. "

Will Smith explained why he refused to shoot in Quentin Tarantino's "Django unchained." In an interview with Entertainment Weekly the actor said: "Django was not the main character, and I always want to play a major role." Smith tried to make some changes in the script: "Like, Quentin, please I have to kill villain!" Despite the fact that Tarantino has refused to change the script, and the fact that co-operation is not fused, Will praises the picture: "It's great. But the role was not mine. "

Star of the series "Boardwalk Empire" Jack Huston has joined the cast of the untitled painting by David O. Russell, formerly the "Untitled David O. Russell Project". Christian Bale plays a con man who is working with co-worker (Amy Adams) and is forced to cooperate with the federal agent (Bradley Cooper). The film also busy Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lawrence, Alessandro Nivola and Louis S.K.

David Letterman told James Franco, why after 1997 never called director Harmony Korine in his program. "According to legend, he pushed Meryl Streep" - suggested James. "Not exactly, - said the leader. - I went to the dressing room to greet Meryl, but there was only your friend Harmony. And he actively searched through Meryl’s purse". Franco tried to justify the director: "Now he is an adequate guy." Letterman agreed and promised to invite Korine to the studio.

Drama "Twelve years of slave" - following the "Shame" by Steve McQueen - decided on a release date in the States. Studio Fox Searchlight will release the tape on December 27, that is in the midst of Oscar season. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano and Brad Pitt.

TV channel FX has given the green light to the series "Fargo." Director of the film Ethan Coen and Joel Cohen are the executive producers of the project. Most likely, the TV version of "Fargo" will live for only one season.

All on the same FX developed the TV series "How & Why” by Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman, the author of "Being John Malkovich," "Adaptation" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." In Kaufman continued difficulties in financing his film "Frank or Francis," but screenwriter parallel occupied several projects, including an adaptation of the first part of a trilogy of Patrick Ness' “Chaos Walking."

Director of dramas "Biutiful" and "Babel" Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu again changed the project. Rejecting the western "The Revenant" he was eyeing to the memoirs of Jennifer Vogel "True Story of my father’s fake life" but in the end will remove the black comedy “Birdman”. Director invited to star Michael Keaton, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone and Zach Galifianakis.

The main character of the project - a former actor who once played a popular character from the comics. He goes to Broadway to return his former glory, and is trying to play in a play based on a story by Raymond Carter, but his plans may be crashed, because of a selfish of an actor, star of the theater, where the hero comes to work.

It's funny that as a former star of films on comics will star Michael Keaton, who played Batman in two films of Tim Burton.

Emma Stone will play the daughter of the hero Keaton, who had just emerged from rehab and ranked his assistant. Naomi Watts will be the counterpart of the hero on the show, while Zach Galifianakis won the role of producer of the shows.

Inarritu wrote the script in collaboration with Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo.

For Michael Keaton “Birdman” will become a return to a great movie: actor rarely appears on the screen, especially in the lead roles. Last year, Keaton replaced Hugh Laurie in the project "Robocop", where he played the director in charge of the implementation of technology of cyborg cop.

Emma Stone is currently shooting the film "The new Spider-Man 2," and in the future actress is subscribed to the thriller of Guillermo del Toro's "Crimson Peak." Naomi Watts has worked with Iñárritu in the drama "21 Grams." This fall, Watts will be seen in the image of Princess Diana in the film, "Diana: A Love Story."

Breck Eisner - son of the former head of Disney's Michael Eisner. The director does not use his full name (his name is Michael Eisner Breckenridge) to avoid confusion with a famous father. He started with amateur productions on campus, put tehnonuar Recon with Peter Gabriel, then went to shoot commercials.

Success in advertising allowed Eisner flop on TV, where he worked on the TV series "The Invisible Man" and "Taken", the latter being produced by Steven Spielberg. The first major project of Breck Eisner became an occasion for gossip in the press: adventure thriller "Sahara" with Matthew McConaughey and is still considered one of the most losing Hollywood projects.

"Sahara" cost the studio Paramount 160 million, even 80 million was spent on advertising, but the movie has gathered a total of 122 million at the box office. Producers had to pass judgment with author Clive Cussler. The writer claimed that no one consulted him when writing the script. Cussler has lost the court.

After the scandal with "Sahara" Breck Eisner had disappeared from view. He returned to television, where he worked on the show, and reminded himself only in 2010, by shooting relatively budget horror "Mad Men." Last summer, Eisner was attached to the movie "Stretch Armstrong", but the project has passed into oblivion. Now Eisner will try again to get into the highest league of Hollywood.

“Jack Reacher” sequel is under the question

Sequel to the thriller "Jack Reacher" is on a thread of: Paramount is seriously thinking to kill nascent franchise to Lee Child's books. Film with Tom Cruise will have to collect a lot of money in Asia, in order the studio decide to continue production.

As the debut of the new hero adventures was selected the ninth book about Jack Reacher "The Shot." Christopher McQuarrie film cost is relatively inexpensive $ 60 million. But thriller should gross 250 million, and then will be given the signal to shoot a sequel.

"Jack Reacher" was released in the U.S. in late December and has shown itself very poorly at the box office, earning only $ 15 million. In total, the film scraped nearly 73 million at home. Foreign film release has brought 80 million. Roughly speaking, the film with its 153 million has already been paid off, but the studio is not happy with these figures.

The fate of Jack Reacher will solve Korea (premiered this week), China and Japan (in these countries the film starts in February). In China, the picture of McQuarrie will have only one week before the country will be swallowed with "The Hobbit." Asia must put in the treasury of the project 100 million, but will it or not, will be known towards the end of February.

The biggest chances of the movie are in Japan, where Tom Cruise has not lost his star status, in contrast to the U.S. Last week, Cruz has been in Tokyo since the first night, so there is hope for the support of the fans of the artist.

Analysts believe that the rolling of "Reacher" in the U.S. will stand at around 85 million dollars. Even if the world rolled yet overcome the hidden figure of 250 million, the studio will have to reach an agreement with Cruise, the actor starred in the sequel to the same conditions. Paramount is not going to increase the budget of the sequel.

Movies with Tom Cruise, unfortunately, are no longer consistently profitable to their creators. Suffice it to recall the fiasco of thriller "Knight and Day", which brought to the United States only 76 million. "Operation "Valkyrie"" - 200 million. "Rock of ages" - 56 million.
To shoot expensive movie with Tom is possible only if there are words in the title of "Mission Impossible" - the fourth series of the popular franchise has earned the world's more than 694 million dollars, becoming the highest grossing film of the series.

Steven Spielberg postponed “Robopocalypse”

Work on the novel by Daniel H. Wilson's "Robopocalypse" is postponed indefinitely. Steven Spielberg had to shoot the film, which should starred Chris Hemsworth, Anne Hathaway and Ben Whishaw.

At Alaska is hidden a powerful artificial intelligence Arcos, who drew all the robots against humanity. The survivors try to figure out the location of Arcos. It has been found a cube with the information, collected by Arcos before the uprising of robots. The novel is based on recordings, made by security cameras, silently fixed-extinction of mankind.

DreamWorks studio planned to start shooting in the summer of 2012. Spielberg chose to work on the film in Montreal, perfect for his needs. Film release charted on July 3, 2013. However, even such masters like Steven Spielberg can change the mood. Releasing "War horse", the director was able to withdraw his draft of dreams of President Lincoln, what and spent the entire 2012.

Preparation of "Robopocalypse" renewed in the middle of last year. Spielberg has obtained the agreement of the stars of "Thor" and "Avengers" of Chris Hemsworth, then acquired in the project Anne Hathaway. The latest addition to the cast was listed Ben Whishaw. Thus, the news about the project stopped.

Representative of director made a statement in which he noted that the project is very important for Spielberg, but the script is not ready. They must go back and re-counted everything.

The script has made an author of "The Cabin in the Woods" Drew Goddard. He was hired in the fall of 2010, when the book of Wilson has not even gone on sale. Roughly speaking, Goddard had two years to make a script. However, if you read the statement made by Spielberg's between the lines, you get that "Robopocalypse" was for the studio in the same stumbling block as "Akira," "Paradise Lost" and "Arthur and Lancelot." All of these large-scale projects have been frozen because of the bloated budgets.

What will be the next Steven Spielberg project is not yet reported. You can, of course, think that the director finally decided to continue the franchise of one of his old friend, but do not get ahead of this.

Let's hope that "Robopocalypse" suffers the same fate as "Lone Ranger" of studio Disney. The film also has been frozen due to problems with finances, but a few months back to life and this year goes to release.

Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, winner of the Cannes Film Festival for directing the crime drama "Drive," in early December last year, has eyed for the draft of Sony “The Equalizer" - a full-length version of the eponymous television series of the 1980s. It seems that Refn and Sony could not come to an agreement.

Talks of moving the show to the big screen came back in 2010. "The Equalizer" was on TV CBS from 1985 to 1989th. Edward Woodward played an aging New York avenger with a mysterious past. The series has gained popularity because of its ingredients: a popular spy movies, TV series about a private detective and harsh realism. The main character Robert McCall is a former secret agent of some kind of organization and tried to atone for the sins of the past, helping the people of New York to deal with criminals.

Then, in 2010, the title role in the film version has played Russell Crowe. In the autumn the project tried to interest Paul Haggis. Flirting with the "Equalizer" for a couple of months, the director decided to shoot his own film "The Third Man", which he was engaged in the last year.

Since December of 2011, the title role in "The Equalizer" was attached Denzel Washington.
However, the fascination with Hollywood serials of the 1980s several cooled production of thriller "A Team", brought together the world's 177 million.

Despite the failure of the project of Refn, Sony still plans to launch production of the tape in the near future and will continue to search for director.

The new film by Nicolas Winding Refn "Only God Forgives" is expected at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Danish director is still attached to the remake fantastic film "Logan's Run", despite the fact that Ryan Gosling dropped out of the project. Also in the plans of Nicholas is comic adaptation of Button Man.
