“Sucker punch” review

Zack Snyder - one of the most extraordinary filmmakers of modern times, with his unique and inimitable style. Moreover, despite the attractiveness of the visual component, his films did not yield in the plot and the emotional component.
The actions of the film "Sucker punch" take place in 1950. To remove all traces of his crime, the evil stepfather sends a young girl, the witness of the crime, to a psychiatric hospital, where he pays a local doctor in order he makes lobotomy for her as soon as possible. A girl, which hospital staff simply calls a doll, submerged in her own fantasy world, where imagines her escape from the crazy hospital. On this deal she has only 5 days.
Unfortunately, this story is the most disastrous part of the picture. Hallucinogenic delirium and nothing more. As the story, offscreen voice will always talk about a guardian angel, fight for our own destiny, but it exists in complete isolation from what is happening on screen. Even the final monologue is not quite fit in with what are doing the main character at this moment.
In addition to the impressive design of the characters and scenery, it should be noted, and local action. Filigree use of slow-mo at the time of the most spectacular shots - trade mark of Zach, and here he has not changed his style. Almost no shaky camera, but because the viewer always sees what is happening on the screen and can savor every frame fisticuffs.
The same can be said about the music, which is ideally complements the picture. Very interesting decision of filmmakers to re-sing known hits like "Sweet Dreams". It turned out very atmospheric and key episodes from the music just chills run.
And now, let us summarize. This is a very stylish, fascinating picture, with a completely empty plot and not very interesting characters. I was quite satisfied with the picture, albeit with some disappointment.
Another story of Red Riding Hood

The Hollywood loves to remake, or a very loosely interpreted children's literature, often making the latest in a gloomy gothic thrillers. Of course, not all fairy tales are such an interpretation fits, but the story of Little Red Riding Hood from childhood to me seemed such a mystical thriller, with blood and gloomy atmosphere.
There would be the best time to invite Tim Burton as best director of gothic tales, but the producers decided otherwise. In the end, with a light hand of Catherine Hardwicke, director of the first part of Twilight, her "Little Red Riding Hood" has turned into the same "Twilight", only with other actors.
Mum of a young girl Valerie, very much wants to marry her wealthy blacksmith Henry, while the daughter herself head over heels in love with the underdog funds Lumberjack Peter. But the situation is complicated by a werewolf, who constantly attacked the inhabitants of villages. Valerie has to find a mysterious troublemaker and incidentally find out eventually, with her fiancé.
In fact, the entire plot of the movie is the endless narration jumps between the two conflicting with each other storylines: the romantic and detective. To watch at all of this is unbearably dull and only the final can be called even slightly impressive. It’s turned rather unexpected here.
Honestly, it sometimes seems that it is a parody on "Twilight", too many episodes are on which viewers in the room laughed wholeheartedly. But when, after watching, you begin to scroll through your head what had happened, comes the understanding that all this has been demonstrated with too serious faces for parody.
Not to be envied in this situation and the actors. Still, Amanda Seyfried is hardly a bad actress, but here she was just a helpless and very static. Local counterparts of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lotnera I don’t even want to mention, because they were on the stage just for decoration. Also, it is unclear what Gary Oldman is doing here in the role of Solomon. He certainly looked good in the frame, but this film is clearly not of his level.
“World Invasion: Battle LA” review

Even before release, the movie "World invasion: Battle LA" has been known as the more expensive version of "Skyline" - a movie with ugly characters, missing plot and overly artificial visuals. It was assumed that this film will follow the same path, but these same effects will be slightly better and entertaining. However, after watching it becomes clear that all these predictions and fears, fortunately, were not destined to come true.
Water - one of the most valuable resources of our planet, especially for one alien race whose technology works just on the water. And so, on one not the most joyous day for humanity, a mysterious extraterrestrial civilization invades Earth and with alarming rate clears it from the locals. The plot centers around a battlefield: Los Angeles, where a platoon of Marines at the cost of enormous losses trying to defend the city.
By itself, the plot is a little standard (some shocking turns cannot be expected), but in any case not stupid. Everything that is happening looks very realistic and atmospheric. Particularly pleased that though the final and does hint at a possible continuation, nevertheless, the story looks like a coherent and complete, but does not end with the most interesting place (as in the aforementioned "Skyline"). In spirit, the film resembles "Black Hawk Down" by Ridley Scott, but instead of Somalis here are aliens.
The most important thing: the plot is not devoid of dramatic notes. Death of characters is really depressing, and adds even more tension to the movie.
Computer graphics does not hurt the eyes, and street skirmishes do not give second-rate or low price, rather, is impressive toughness and uncompromising. The film generally is not perceived as an empty blockbuster with explosions and humor, but as a real, serious military thriller.
That's it, really not expecting, we got a great fantasy blockbuster, with a strong bias toward drama. And let there was a lot of pathos in a couple of moments, but it was impossible to do without it. At the rest, it is a quality, dynamic and very intense movie, pleasing both with the picture and story.
Aftershock (“Tangshan da dizhen”)

Plot
In 1976 in Tangshan has been an earthquake. The film tells about the fate of one family devastated from natural disaster.
I could even describe in detail the plot of the picture, but before watching the film, I knew only the first sentence of my synopsis. Only later I’ve learned how ambitious it was, that this earthquake is the third in the number of victims in history, and it has taken up to 242,419 people.
Like other epics, and great films, earthquake in the movie is just the push for the further developments, which will make itself felt for 32 years. The movie story tells about one family: husband, wife, and twins, a boy and a girl of five years. Initially the plot has promised to be stingy on the action and I thought that it would be interesting if, in such an epic movie, the story will tell about more families. But as became clear later, the story of this family needed to be separated.
What surprised me in the movie there are no negative characters, if someone's actions and cause some resentment, they are explained by a simple desire to do everything as best as possible (contrary to this may only guy, whose begging his girlfriend to an abortion and subsequently left her, no doubt, then he's a scoundrel and scum here, but what about the same guy, I really liked the scene when he has been talking with the girl father, then he behaved very correctly).
Those who want to watch the movie itself because of the very scenes of the earthquake will be upset, as creators have tried to show only consequences but not the whole moment of disaster. It only lasts a couple of minutes, probably as much lasted and the real one. To honor of creators they didn’t make an accent on bloody details but shown very realistic scenes of destruction of buildings.
Valentine’s Day

The new movie “Valentine’s Day” is another love almanac - a worthy competitor to the "Real love". The film was enjoyable and fun to watch. There are few stories and they all happen on Valentine's Day. In this crazy day, not only reunite the hearts, some will learn the truth about their loved ones, someone recognized their old mistakes, and someone just hates this holiday.
Florist Reed a "Cupid", flowers vender, who looks forward to a prosperous happiness. But it turns out it was quite close, even close friends sometimes can be closer than we think. But not everybody is so fond of the Valentine's Day. There are those who do not like this holiday. Kara hates this day with all her heart, but on her way meets a man, separating her interests.
In this light holiday, not all spend the day with beloved one, someone is going to visit a son after a long separation, and someone is in a hurry to her favorite alone football player! Here and spontaneous love teenagers with their school fun, grievances and aspirations. Alex and Grace dream to part virginity, because they are confidence in their feelings. A sportsman Willie loves his naive and a bit crazy girlfriend Felicia, who is dancing idiotic dances in front of the camera and gives him a gift of a T-shirt with her favorite number. Married for many years Greg begins to live again without deceit and lies.
It is so interesting to observe, how such a different people are falling love in St. Valentine Day. And those who were not honest in this day simply left alone in a bright holiday.
Practically all the characters intersect or are familiar with each other. It was interesting and nice to watch. The film shows everything: the students, businessmen, doctors, sportsmen, TV presenters, sellers ... They all want to love!
Great actors, beautiful couple and a sea of flowers! A film about love and tenderness, the fate of the lovers and lonely hearts in Los Angeles ... The music warmed the soul and the love - heart.
94 minutes of explosive stupidity

For all who dared to go to the "Jackass 3D", there are three most important advices in order to spent good those 94 minutes.
1. Lovers of intelligent cinema, mannered young ladies and blondes, as well as persons under 18 years will have nothing to do here. The first will unlikely appreciate the humor, the second and third one will be in a position close to the shock, and a quarter will want to repeat the trick itself, but I note that in each case, there are exceptions.
2. Come with a big company to make even funnier.
3. Do not even try to comprehend what you saw, but it is better not load brain with superfluous thoughts.
Now about "Jackass". The initial splash with Beavis and Bathed flatly declares the nature of the film, and at the same time, a mockery of the accursed 3D is a pleasant feeling of solidarity. Initial and final titers demonstrate the power of new-fashioned format, but at the same time, it is not so difficult to see that it was used in the movie many times, thus the ideological message from Beavis and Bathed was ruined.
"Jackass" has no plot and it would be strange if it was. From the first till the last moment you will see clips from Jackass stunts from the team. I must say, they do not lack imagination: pulling a tooth with a help of Lamborghini, the fight against buffalo and sheep, flying in a toilet stall, violent midgets and much more. Sometimes they go too stick, but their actions are still greatly amused.
So if you follow my three advices, you'll either avoid insulting waste of money, or spend very fun and rewarding time.
P.S. Jackass are already wealthy people, their shows have been broadcasted at MTV, and now they have skillfully earn a very serious amount of money due to huge box office.
Enter the void

At an abstract entitled "Enter the void", which, however, for the protagonist, whose eyes (literally) we look at what is happening, is quite direct meaning, is hidden a history of brothers and sisters in early childhood, which have lost their parents in a car accident. Ever since they have vowed always be together, but the life decided otherwise...
Trying to determine for myself the genre of this picture, I stopped for a psychedelic (not to be confused with psychological) drama. Events unfolding in the film are really very dramatic. Especially, if we mention the game of actors. I got the strong feeling that it is not actors at all, but directors friends (by the way, his name – Gaspard will also sounded few times in the film), who literally live in the film. And as it turned out, my feelings were far from the truth - in more than half who starred in the film, including the protagonist, it was the first experience in cinema, and one character so far turned out to be another director.
But a separate, primary, role in the film, in my opinion, I would like to give one person - the operator Benoit Debie. I do not know what he got up with his camera (and camera if it is generally in the conventional sense), but during watching this film I’ve made it sure, that there are no inaccessible places for him to shoot. Mounting is made in such way that the image is in a constant motion, as if it has been done from a one double. And so almost 3 hours, throughout which we see the night. Only 2-3 moments will bring us to the light of day. In general, light (electric) in the visual symphony of the films is almost the first violin. Not by chance at the beginning of this review, I called the painting is a psychedelic. And if a fairly simple plot does not make you to feel this film, the visual component will surely do this.
Yes, the movie is not for everyone (in a good way), yes, the mood (and time), not a family movie, and those viewers who are not waiting until the end, left the room to clear evidence. Undoubtedly, the techniques which have been used by Gaspar Noe, are unusual and experimental. The creators go away from ordinary clichés and violate the unwritten rules of cinema. Almost a third of the picture is occupied by abstract images, and the soundtrack is comprised almost entirely of ambient music, or just silence, which is interspersed with the slightest movement of characters, breathing, and even beating their hearts.
Without a doubt I can say that the viewing experience of "Enter the void" will remain in my heart for a long time.

Fighter review

Most movies about the sport (from boxing to baseball, from bobsled to the car racing) is very similar to each other and often replicate the same story plot: the protagonist is a simple an unknown man who is not loved enough even in his own family is, goes info sport and, naturally, reaches his highest success (otherwise because why do a movie like this). But the movie "Fighter" by David O. Russell in this respect is somewhat surprising because the talks are not so much about climbing peaks but about hero’s own failure.
The plot of the movie is based on real events. Brothers Mickey Ward and Dickey Ward from childhood defined their professional future - they are both boxers. That's just life decided not quite the way they dreamed of as kids. Already grown up Dickey has rich considerable success in the ring, but despite the speed and outlined strategies for fighting, because of drugs he was forced to resign from boxing and now is committed to coaching his younger brother Mickey for future victories.
In general, the plot of the movie is good and focuses on longer fights and successful career, and the personal problems of two brothers. The film very clearly demonstrates a situation where the family - not the best assistant in promoting the career ladder. A family of Mickey Ward is far from ideal: brother is an addict always attracts problems, some quite inadequate sisters are constantly humiliated his girlfriend and mother doesn’t notice anyone accept of older brother Dickey. And the only girl Charlene helps him to control himself.
Mark Wahlberg in the role of Mickey looks very organic, if somewhat ... familiar, that is, in fact, like the heroes he plays quite often. But, nevertheless, his game raises no objections. Amy Adams gave the film her feminine charm, and if I'm not mistaken, she went, almost the most self-assured and adequate character of the whole picture.
But who has struck at the heart, so is Christian Bale. On the screen he does something completely unbelievable, literally living a life of his character. His facial expressions and play of voice are just indescribably and so far he looks like a real prototype.
Summarizing the above, it should be noted that this is almost the best sports drama in the last few years. Let the movie is a little predictable (although this is probably the misfortune of all tapes that are based on real events) characters and the actors are playing redeem all. So fans of sport dramas will be pleased to see elegantly boxing matches.
Oldschool, or there is no place for aged

R.E.D Plot.
The film tells us that there are no former agents. The main character has been hunted and he gathered a team of trusted friends in order to kick ass to CIA.
God, I can’t say at what time this year I see a similar story. Beginning of the film takes place in a similar with the "Knight and Day", even with the same attributes and similar scenes. The entire film is in general very similar to the "A-Team". Intriguing is not it?
In fact, "RED" can be easily divided into two parts. The first part presents us a dashing action movie with old actors in the lead roles. And everything that happens on the screen is really admirable. But at the second part the movie crawls into a rut of typical actions and at that time lost all the charm and begin frantically to remember, in any time you see it already. However, the end again explodes and you are not disappointed leave the cinema.
Oh, just for the sake of the actors you should see this picture. Let's count: 2 Oscars, 4 Golden Globes, the Golden Lion, 2 palms, the Golden Mask, and even 2 Razzie. And this is without taking into account the nominations in which these people did not win.
John Malkovich - one of the few non-standard actors of our time, thank him for that, such people wouldn’t be forgotten.
Helen Mirren - given that the film was still partly in English, her perfect British pronunciation right through the air.
Morgan Freeman – there is such a feeling that this man is eternal. I hardly counted the number of pictures with his participation, which I looked. Terrific actor with such a strength and energy at that age of 73.
Bruce Willis - the only actor in this film, which was on his territory. Idol of youth, action hero of past and present. By the way, he has gotten golden raspberries for this movie.
Karl Urban - after "Lord of the Rings" this actor has been lost, but "Star Trek" and "RED" returned him in a great movie, and he has coped with her task on 100%.
Misc.
The film is made on the principle of "we kill, blow up and demolish - you laugh". Dare say that this principle works, though in the second half of this picture and turn into the usual serious action. The only downside I would say the absence of violence, again in the second part. This is not my whim, just this comic was very brutal and cruel, so it would nice idea to move this all on the screen.
Once in Berlin…(“Unknown” review)

Winter Berlin ... The show is falling on roofs, trees, roads ... And then one day an American couple (Dr. Harris and his wife) arrives back at the Scientific Congress, go to the hotel and at the hotel it has already revealed that the husband had forgotten in the airport his case with the documents. He has to go back to the airport and on a wet road taxi car falls into a river. Taxi driver at the last moment of time has saved the passenger, and he finds himself in a hospital bed. Next begins the painful process of understanding - who he was, why his wife doesn’t look for him, everything is unknown. Actions by seeking answers to questions, do not leave anyone indifferent, because the plot is twisted.
The filmmakers do not have desired to leave any free minute, every minute brings the hero, and with him and the viewer to an unexpected clue.
Before our eyes after luxury rooms sweeps "another" Berlin, illegal immigrants, slums and daily struggle for survival, the hero - living outcast, forced to go to those places. Here and crazy car chases, and martial arts and shooting, and even humor, although "black". The only assistants in the difficult path of finding themselves, are - Bosnian illegal Jinnah and a veteran of the Stasi (secret service reposed in Bose GDR). And by staging the hero through all the circles of hell, we revealed an explanation of what is happening, other than director's unusual solution - the solution is shocking and surprising at the same time. More film follows the denouement, in which the hero has only one purpose - elementary to survive and not get into jail. A panorama showing the ending of the movie, still snow-covered Berlin, where, despite outward beauty of surroundings occur not pious deeds and one could well happen to such a story.
In addition to writing and directing in the movie looks great Liam Neeson (Dr. Harris) and Diane Kruger (Jinnah). One showed the audience bewildered by experienced an average American who can not understand why his wife does not want to know him and the other was decorated with movie roles illegal emigrant, which have nothing to lose and, if successful, a bonus prize covers the costs. And if Neeson has turned much of the movie depressed, Krueger with her vividness and beauty of decisive action has given some drive. Against this background Jenuary Jones (wife of Harris) looks like a wax doll. And I cannot mention Bruno Ganz as a veteran of the Stasi, which actually belongs to the laurels of the discoverer of the secrets and mysteries, a lone man who lived and who gave the best years to serve the country.
The bottom line, strong thriller with elements of drama in which the subject is not trivial, and the acting game is not ordinary.
