To get the perfect series, like well popular today "Lie to me" you need to prepare excellent cocktail of different ingredients. To do this can only talented chefs - most importantly, never overdo.
First, there is selected a good team - two girls would be clever to magically get the necessary information. And what about the beautiful Buddy, speaking only the truth? (Can you imagine how nice will then see how his style of life that will crumble. And I'm sure he will!)
Secondly, it takes a complex plot. Each series - is a small full-length movie. And even though that guy from a religious family did not commit suicide, I was able to foresee, to predict who is really a killer in the beginning it was impossible!
Third, body language and psychology of people (especially when it comes to crime or gender relations) attracts a huge number of people of different ages. And the fact that you can study it in the form of a thrilling 60-minute movie, not sitting at the heavy dusty tomes, is a big plus!
And fourth, why the series is a valuable and beloved, is the last but not least, the ingredients of a cocktail - the main hero.
The point here is not cost an ordinary looking. Need a really terrific actor. To him alone in the frame have been enough. Whatever he did, whatever he says - you'll look at him without stopping. As he led his eyebrow, with some emotion to someone looked - simple words in his performance make you feel a storm of emotions!
Dr. Lightman is been studying people face micro emotions for 20 years. His style of work - watch, provoke, expose. He captures every emotion and easily determines a person is lying or telling the truth. Nevertheless, he is the chief liar in the series!
The series needs the actor from God. For House MD it was Hugh Laurie, for Lie to me (what a gentle name!) - Tim Roth. Tim is now a little older than Hugh (when he began filming in House), but it is not very important. Such men may bring to mind anyone else! This age for them - the apex of male beauty and sexual attractiveness. Magic eyes, perfect figure, and the speech! Women are just melting.
Pilot with you. I believe that would justify the continuation of those words that I said to the "Lie to me". My compliments, Tim!
When, in 2001 Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks produced "Band of Brothers", it seemed that the theme of the Second World War on the small screen is closed forever: it was almost impossible to imagine that anyone will be able to beat the miniseries as the artistic and technical terms. After nine years, Spielberg and Hanks returned to the military theme, making even bigger spectacle.
Although the authors themselves, almost in every interview claimed that the "The Pacific" and "Band of Brothers" are rather different projects, both movies can't escape from numerous comparisons.
Broadly speaking, this series is something between "Saving Private Ryan" and "Thin red line". "The Pacific" contains and anti-war motives, and perfectly set battle scenes. What episode is only the landing marines on Peliliy or subsequent battle for Iwozima (although what else could be expected from Spielberg and Hanks?). Camera work is great. The last time this level of special effects has seen in the "38th parallel". Attention to detail is also worthy of respect. And the stories of veterans and documentary video before each series - another small plus. I'm glad almost complete absence of pathos and jingoistic patriotism. There are several strong scenes where the audience involuntarily begins to empathize with the Japanese. Jarhead did not build himself as a savior of the world, not philosophize about the higher things - they go to the bathroom, cursing, joking, trying to somehow brighten the soldiers' everyday lives.
To be honest, this mini-series is impressive.
First of all its dimensions: it's clear on what spent their money Spielberg and Hanks. Scenery, visual effects, costumes, etc. - all are very realistic. About the special effects in general stands alone to say - a head taller than any other series (see immediately that each frame in at least 2 times more processed than other projects). Also camera work is more "cine" than serial one.
I like the fact that each series leaves a strange feeling after watching. It feels like you are living most of the life with the Marines, who, incidentally, were very realistic. I guess the whole secret of the fact that the script was written on war veterans' memoirs.
What about actors play, so here are no complaints. All at great too! Of course, there are a couple of pompous purely American scenes, but it does not spoil the impression from the series as a whole, but only makes the drama and tragedy to the history of the three Marines. Love and sentimentality are just as much as needed for quality military drama, in order not to slide to the level of "Pearl Harbor".
The entire series - a solid contrast: a peaceful life in the United States alternates with bloody battles in the Pacific, beautiful scenery from the deck of a ship moving at beaches littered with mutilated bodies, jazz in the restaurant replaces the roar of exploding shells. That is, in my view, should look like an epic war canvas!
Being a child I dreamed of becoming an astronaut in the future, I think that many people dreamed about it, and when I saw the "Titan: A. E." I was in seventh heaven, by the fact that before this I did not see cartoons about space and space ships.
"Titan: A.E." - hand-drawn animation and computer graphics in some places, with the ideal complement each other. I liked colors, can be seen that the artists were trying not to repeat. The plot also not let us down, not annoying and you look at one breath.
In the distant future of humanity, deprived of the Earth, forced to settle on the outskirts of the universe and to endure the harassment from other intelligent races. The only thing that can save our descendants from the gradual extinction - "Titan", the space Noah's Ark, able to create re-create the Earth and all its inhabitants. The catch is that nobody knows the exact location of "Titan". No one, except Kayl, who has a map, and a whole pack of enemies trying to get to the Titan before earthlings.
"Titan" - a dynamic, well-cut story, charming characters and excellent musical accompaniment. And, of course, beautiful animation - and now, and many years later, the picture will become just as lively and colorful, for the classic is not affected by time. Of course, there is a positive protagonist, a little naive, but the bold and adventurous, there are villains, and no one (in fact on the Ark of the pair), but this cartoon, unlike many of its brethren, is not straightforward, and the spiral of intrigue, twisted in several exciting turns.
In this story a little of everything: love, universal values, the craving for adventure and noble deeds, loyalty and sacrifice. And in a sense, "Titan" - the eternal theme of the confrontation of children and fathers, where the role of the latter was not malicious Dredge, and Corso and above all they represent a real threat to Kayl and his team.
There is no popular now parodied moments, no stupid fun and farcical ease, concomitant modern Hollywood media animation. But there is an interesting story about the death of mankind and the search of the lost spaceship, which can save people there are living heroes, there are lyrical episodes, and finally there is a beautiful painted picture. A chase scene of ships among the ice meteorites is in general beyond praise, I even admired. In general, a worthy representative of drawn animation!
"Titan" does not pose any intimate knowledge and opens new horizons, but it's a snug, attractive cartoon, and watch it is for the sake of the beautiful hand-drawn pictures, especially the part that unfolds in the Andal ice ring, dark and surprisingly lovely at one time.
I have rather critical attitude to the modern American films and TV serials. But "Dead like me" - one of the few TV series, the first season of which was viewed in one breath and included in my list of "Favorite things for repeated viewing".
The movie cast is great.
Mandy Petinkin - has a very impressive track record, which contains such famous series as "Law and Order," "Criminal Minds", movies "The Princess Bride," "Dick Tracy", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", etc. In "Dead" he plays a hateful coach, a parent who, when necessary will chew, and praise, and read notation. Strictly speaking, for the main character, he is a kind of "kicker ass".
Ellen Muf - with a very special and unusual appearance, which is somewhat contrary to the "Hollywood" standards. All the main characters are beautiful. And if it happens "mishaps appearance", then only when it's necessary to remove weepy movie about ugly, which makes her way to the top of luck to all silicone babes. In the movie Ellen Muf looks pretty ordinary "girl next door", which at first do not care about what is happening around. But she soon realizes - "there is life after death"! Let not quite plain, with its shortcomings, problems, but this life is damn interesting. Especially when you have such a wonderful and useful hobby as souls collecting.
Jasmine Guy - plays the role of callous jockey, which will issue a receipt in the next instant, after the end of the paid time. She is not particularly mince words and able to precipitate any jerk. However, it turns out that this lady, who died in the already distant 80th, has her own weaknesses and some good feelings.
Laura Harris got the role of the former actress (Daisy), which, if you believe her stories, slept almost all the men in Hollywood. She loves money, and therefore, beautiful and expensive things. Not worrying about how to achieve her goals, and involves everybody into her scams. However, it seems that American political correctness has reached up to feelings - "blondes may not be a bitch all the time!" - proudly declare creators and eventually make from Daisy a lonely and vulnerable person.
Of course, the movie has a lot of other actors - Mom, Dad, younger sister, Georgie, her boss, the secretary in the office ... Characters were very different, interesting and multifaceted. From time to time there are some patterns, but they quickly break down - the characters put into situations where they have to move away from their normal behavior and to show what is usually hidden from prying eyes.
A wonderful TV series with a dose of black humor!
An independent movie "The Kids are all right" by Lisa Cholodenko, threatens to become the biggest hit of this director.
A pair of women under 40 - Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nick (Annette Bening) - raise two children conceived through artificial insemination. Upon reaching adolescence, Johnny and Leiser decided to find out their real father. They eventually turn out to be somehow never really thought about the parents' burden of Paul (Mark Ruffalo). He learned of his unexpected new "acquisition", agrees to spend some time with suddenly appeared children. And gradually tastes for fatherhood.
The drama "The Kids are all right" is not the first work of Lisa Cholodenko. She has worked on rather popular film "Boys n the Hood" and today her new work about kids is already being called the major independent movie hit of the year. The picture has participated in the programs of such festivals as Sundance, Berlin, Sydney and Los Angeles County competitions. Critics are thrilled of this film.
"A charming, honest, unpretentious and intelligent portrait of American family - acute, touching and funny. In addition, filled with finely nuanced, bold and resonant actor's performance "- Evie Hoffert, NYC Movie Guru.
Acting is close to perfection, and this suggests that the weaknesses of each character in the film are measured accurately and fairly presented" - Hey. AO Scott, New York Times.
"This is a new kind of family film. A much more funny and clever than the rest ones"- Kurt Loder, MTV.
"The Kids are all rights is not as sharp as previous works by Cholodenko, but this her more mainstream movie is very clever, soulful and bias"- Lou Lumenik, New York Post.
"Writing the script and directing the film on the family theme, is always difficult, but it seems Cholodenko find the right balance" - Gene Kaplan, Kaplan vs. Kaplan.
"A great script, and that is especially pleasant, this movie is the best by Cholodenko on visual effects" - Jeffrey Anderson, Combustible Celluloid.
"This is a movie that we've been waiting the whole year. Comedy, not beating hurts. Drama, not prone to manipulation. The film, full of ideas, but not sink to the preaching "- Dana Stevens, Slate.
"Too dry calibrated film"- David Kaplan, Kaplan vs. Kaplan.
Nine of the most dangerous killers on the Earth planet are together in a tropical forest, where they are attacked by violent alien monsters, armed to the mouthparts of tentacles. People quickly realize that they were at the hunting grounds where they are a game and everyone is trying to escape, as best he can. Robert Rodriguez presents his thriller project "Predators" - cheap, but continued strong astringent movie in 1987 about the life-and-death struggle between the prey species with the two planets.
23 years ago in the South American jungle special ops headed by Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has faced with terrifying aliens, collecting human skulls from the vertebrae in the form of trophies. In a fierce fight Dutch destroyed monster - and made a cult image of the stylish bloodthirsty hunter from space, called Predator.
This cult has also affected the popular director Robert Rodriguez, who had written several versions of "Predator" script in 1994. And finally, the long-awaited film was released in theaters – however, this made not Rodriguez but his friend director Nimrod Antal.
The new "Predator" continues to acquaint us with the world and the habits of alien monsters and hunters. Instead of Schwarzenegger is Adrien Brody. And instead of Dutch Special Forces is the whole crew of notable actors who play the most dangerous murderers and criminals from the planet Earth.
"Predator" is looked with a feeling of pleasant nostalgia. The film is filled with numerous references and a kind of reverence addressed to the original movie by John McTiernan, where an alien hunter with dreadlocks was first brought before the audience. Here and snatching vertebrae with the skull of a human body, and red points of the triangular sight on the head of the main character - fans can compete while counting referential moments.
But "Predator" direction leaves much to be desired. Out of the two main components - the injected suspense and spectacular fights with predators, taken at the present level.
Generally, in "Predator" invented a lot of foreign apparel for the space race of hunters: the dog-dinosaur and various subspecies of Predators themselves.
In general, Robert Rodriguez made a mistake with director. His evil plot in the capable directorial hands, obviously, could make "predators" the most important film-battle of this summer, but Nimrod Antal buried and drive, and all scenario findings of potentially cult picture.
As the result, the only fact you should see Predators - is on-screen transformation of Adrien Brody in the hard and terrible fighter Royce, leaving the predator with an ax. In "Predator" Brody would like to submit in the usual way for him "an intellectual in the war" but the actor demanded the role of "leader"- and not let us down. In "Predator", he not only shines his fresh biceps - he changed the entire appearance, including facial expressions and gestures: now his movement is a movement of alpha leader. With interest waiting for the new roles of Brody in a new capacity.
Unfortunately, it's not enough to save mediocre picture by Nimrod Antal. Evil and a bold attempt to resurrect stylish alien hunters undertaken by Rodriguez, much to the chagrin, has failed.
The austere 65-year-old Mex has reduced haters to matchwood in the new Robert Rodriguez movie "Machete"! Here you are a vivid example of how with a modest budget of $ 20 million can be shoot the fast-action fairy slaughter and unrestrained revelry pyrotechnics. There is certainly every penny visible on the screen, but Mr. Rodriguez showed all the power of his Texas mentality directing. As the result, we have a very inspiring and entertaining trailer that gives hope for a first-class criminal action.
Moreover, action movie "Machete" wants to be regarded as a crowning acting career of Danny Trejo, because in most of his films, he shines in a primitive way of notorious thug, and in the upcoming Rodriguez film, apparently, this character will reach its height. In addition, wild character Trejo finally moved from the traditional level of secondary characters on a pedestal with title role.
I recall that originally it was filmed hard fake trailer for the project "Grandhouse" by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, which has grown now into a full-length hooky. The picture tells about brutal killer nicknamed "Machete" which defenses vertical of executive power from corrupt officials with the help of piercing and cutting knives.
The film involved an impressive number of outstanding actors, among them: Robert De Niro, Cheech Marin, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Jeff Feyi and even Steven Seagal.
I think fans of brutal trash will be very pleased!
In the August issue of British Marie Claire magazine will be released an interview with Vanessa Paradis, in which the singer and actress opens up the secrets of family happiness with Johnny Depp. Excerpts from this interview are given by Stuff.
Paradis said that her relationship with Johnny Depp is so strong, because she and her husband did not spend every day together.
A couple has lived for 12 years. Their daughter Lily-Rose is 11 years old, and son John Christopher, who often called Jack - 8. When Vanessa asked about the secret of their happy family, she replied that it is very important not to suppress her partner.
She likes when Johnny goes to wander alone, engaged in his own deals, because when he returns, they have a lot to talk about. Vanessa would not like always stay close to him, because they do not consider such kind of relationship is beneficial.
"The fact that we don't spend every day side by side, making our marriage is stable. And above all, we greatly respect and admire each other. We understand that if we want our relationship continues, we should let each other have own space, own interests, and, of course, you need to trust your partner. Not everyone was lucky to be worthy of that trust".
"You are really lucky, if you have found the person to whom you can trust when you spend time apart. But really, everything is much more complicated. Love must be like life. You do not eat the same food every day, do not read one and the same book, not listening to the same CD. If you are together, sometimes you have to be separately and deal with your own interests".
Vanessa can "talk and talk" about Johnny. She likes to watch how he communicates with people, how quickly he can arrange everything.
"I can make an infinitely long list of things that amaze me Johnny, but I most impressed by his boundless loyalty. I can continue to talk about his merits, to speak of my admiration for him as an actor, a father and a man with whom I live. But most of all, I admire him as a person. Not only when he talks with me or with his mother. He is generally a man with a capital letter in all situations. I think he is amazing, really and naturally amazing".
July 3, 1985 was a special day for all lovers of cinema, action and adventure. In this day has been released a new movie then a little-known Robert Zemeckis "Back to the Future", in which the car-time machine DeLorean famously traveled back in time, leaving footprints on the pavement burning of tires.
The film was being in top for 12 weeks, and became the highest grossing film of 1985, received four nominations for an Oscar and the Oscar statuette for Best Sound Editing, but we love it not for this - but for the fact that during 25 years the fiery trail is not dying away in our memory.
"Back to the Future" is about a graduate Marty MacFlay, which on a time machine, created by an eccentric scientist Emmett Brown, comes from the 1985-th in 1955 year and prevents accidental meeting of his future parents. This movie and now still looks incredibly fun and is a favorite film of many spectators. By the silver jubilee of the picture let's go back to the past and remember the main points of interest associated with the creation of "Back to the Future", which became one of the major hits of 1980.
Writer Bob Gale, was already friends and worked with Robert Zemeckis, thought out "Back to the Future" when visiting parents flipping through graduation photo album of his father. Gale thought: "What if they had been with his father the same age? Whether they would be friends?" - And decided that it was unlikely.
Robert Zemeckis with this idea first turned to the Disney studio - but there is some reason they were afraid that the story of a love interest of the mother to her son, even through the prism of moving in time, ruin the "family" reputation of the studio.
In contrast to the "Disney", Steven Spielberg and the studio "Universal" didn't afraid - and gave the green light to develop the script and shooting.
Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, who wrote the script, at first wanted to present a time machine like a laser installation or simply refrigerator. The idea with fridge raised fears that after the movie young spectators will get to the refrigerator in an attempt to go in the future or the past - and get stuck there.
Finally, Gale had the idea that the function of time machine can really do the car - and the third version of the script means of moving in time became well known to us car DeLorean, which has become a truly iconic after the film.
The only one, Robert Zemeckis had seen in the role of Marty, was Michael J. Fox. But at the beginning of shooting Michael has become a TV star of series "Family Ties" and could not leave that shooting and participate in Zemeckis film.
Therefore, the role of Marty called actor Eric Stoltz - but he looked like too adult and not suited for the role of graduate-teenager in this movie. Three weeks later Zemeckis dismissed Stolz and turned to Michael again, begging him to play in "Back to the Future". And J. Fox agreed - on condition that work on the film will not hurt his shooting in the "Family Ties".
Thus began retake of the material made with Eric Stoltz: at day, Michael starred in the series, but at night - in Zemeckis film, and slept during the filming of "Back to the Future" for only a couple of hours per day.
Especially for the filming, Michael has learned to ride a skateboard - and not in vain he tried: everybody who has ever seen "Back to the Future" still remember how virtuously MacFlay drove on a skateboard to school and back, clinging to the passing cars.
Zemeckis and Gale didn't plan previously to shot "Back to the Future" fantasy trilogy. However, the huge success of the film immediately made everyone talk about the continuing - and in the film version, which appeared on the videotape, to the delight of fans before the credits appeared inscription "To Be Continued ...".
Everyone has been waiting for the second part of "Back to the Future" with a hot look. Neil Strauss quotes in his novel "The Game", based on actual events, a replica of his friend: "When I was in tenth grade, I wanted to kill myself because I did not know why I live. And then I heard that after 23 days will premiere "Back to the Future 2". I started a calendar and marked off each day before the premiere of the film. This was the reason, why was worth living. "
The movie "Back to the Future" was literally disassembled on quotes. You yourself, probably, facetiously responded to parents' request to make a quieter hard rock or grunge with Marty MacFlay words: "You are not ready for such music, but your kids will like it." And this is - "Holy saints" or "No! Nobody calls me chicken!"And so on.
When Ronald Reagan (the same actor who was elected president for a second term a year before the movie) first saw "Back to the Future" and was caught by Doc Brown phrase - "But how actor could become president?"- that he asked the projectionist to rewind and show him this time again.
Reagan's so impressed by Zemeckis film, that he even included a quote from the movie in his address to the American people in 1986. Speaking about the future of America, he said: "As stated in the movie "Back to the Future" - "where we go, we do not need roads."
The fate of filmmakers
Robert Zemeckis after the resounding success of "Back to the Future" has become a star of first magnitude. And then he gave us "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," two parts of "Back to the Future", masterpieces "Forrest Gump" and "Cast Away". In recent years, the director got carried away 3D-capture-motion technology, on the basis of which he created animated picture "Beowulf," "The Polar Express" and last year's "Christmas Story".
Bob Gale has written two more parts of the "Back to the Future", and then has written scenario to the wonderful movie "Interstate 60".
Michael J. Fox starred in the trilogy and after in Gale "Interstate 60" and Tim Burton "Mars Attacks!" And in recent years that have passed in the fight against serious disease, focused on the Series - "The Clinic," "Boston Legal" and so on.
Incredible Christopher Lloyd, who performed the role of the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, starred in more than 100 films and serials, but the trilogy "Back to the Future" is the high point of his acting career.
But for Billy Zane trilogy "Back to the Future" was a real springboard - he later played the main negative character in "Titanic" James Cameron and Cinematography remembered more as a teammate of Tom Beckett in the movie "Sniper" and the thriller "Dead Calm".
Lea Thompson, who played mother of Marty MacFlay, in fact, was older than Michael Jay Fox's only for ten days. She had to spend 3 hours in the dressing room in order to look like a 47-year-old "Mama" for filming episodes of "Back to the Future" in 1985 year. Like Lloyd, besides Zemeckis trilogy, the actress is no longer visible and distinguished by outstanding films.
Crispin Glover, Marty father (who in reality was younger then Jay Fox for three years) - after the "Back to the Future" "hiding" for a while, and then his career had a breakthrough and he stared in "Charlie's Angels", "Beowulf" and "Alice in Wonderland."
Unfortunately, after the end of the trilogy is practically not get into the cameras wonderful actor Thomas Wilson, who played one of the most prominent villain in the history of cinema - Beef Tennanah, as well as all his ancestors and descendants.
P.s. Two Bob - Zemeckis and Gale - back in 1985 brought us, that the results that we wish to achieve, and dreams that are going to perform, come true and become visible not at once, but for a long time ("Thirty years - beautiful round number ".)
