“Dirty Dancing” will have remake
Since an attempt to continue the "Dirty Dancing" in 2004 was not successful, the studio Lionsgate has decided to shoot remake. The director will be Kenny Ortega, who was the choreographer of the original picture and put himself dancing with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in 1987.
In 1963 a girl nicknamed Baby Frances came along with her parents in a holiday home. The company of older people is not very suitable for 17-year old girl, but it turns out that at the resort there is a dance teacher Johnny, in which the heroine falls in love.
The film performed well in worldwide box office, collecting U.S. $ 214 million. Over the past 24 years after release the painting has been sold on DVD over 10 million copies and is still loved by many viewers. The sequel, subtitled "Havana Nights" has failed.
Remake of "Dirty Dancing" will take action in our time, but it will return all of the songs that became hits thanks to the original, as well as introduce new songs and some classics of the sixties.
"The ability to shoot "Dirty Dancing" to me like coming home - says Kenny Ortega. - I grew up in the 60s and at the same time studied dances. This is largely determined my identity. I look forward to when I begin to assemble a team of new generation. At the time, Patrick Swayze asked for a new bar for dancing on the screen of men, as did Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire before him".
Despite the fact that Ortega was shooting feature films, his most famous project is the documentary "Michael Jackson: That's all," issued after the singer's death.
