Earlier in the project were approved Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest. Director of the pilot - Noah Baumbach, and producer of the project is Scott Rudin.

Franzen's novel was published in 2001 and immediately got one of the most prestigious literary prizes - America National Book Award. "Corrections" are included in the list of the hundred best English-language novels of the magazine "Time".

Scott Rudin has acquired screen rights to the bestseller 10 years ago. Initially it was planned to remove a feature film, and even Rudin has agreed with director Steven Daldry, but as a result it was decided to turn the book in the series on a channel HBO.

In his book, Franzen talks about Lambert family life. Engineer Alfred retires, but soon learns that he has Parkinson's disease. Wife of Alfred, Enid, long suffered from the tyranny of man, but his madness turns her life into a nightmare. Lambert has three children, all of whom have long fled away from their parents. Gary is a banker in Philadelphia, but, despite successful career, suffers from depression and alcohol abuse. Chip - a teacher who has lost work because of the novel with a student who takes and the Lithuanian mafia. And finally, the only daughter of Lambert, Denise, a chef working in New York.

Ewan McGregor plays the younger son of Lambert, a teacher Chip. It will be only the third appearance of British actor in American television series. Early in his career, he appeared in "Tales from the Crypt" and starred in "ER," which won him a nomination for the prize "Emmy".

McGregor can now be seen in the melodrama "Perfect Sense", and in January of next year, the actor appears on screen in blockbuster "Haywire" by Steven Soderbergh. In summer will be release Bryan Singer fairy tale "Jack – the giants killer" with Ewan participation.
