“The Avengers” will be a TV series
Studio Disney has officially announced a deal with director Joss Weedon to stage the film "The Avengers 2," which he also wrote the script. Weedon also develop a series for the channel ABC, the action of which will evolve in the Universe of "Avengers."
The film, which brought together several superheroes of Marvel, released in April this year and has earned a worldwide box office of almost half a billion dollars, with interest having beaten the considerable budget (220 million).
Thus, the agreement with Weedon leaves the franchise in good hands. The creator of TV series "Buffy - the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" was the key to success of "Avengers" and his involvement in the work on the sequel was only a matter of time.
Date of release of "Avengers 2" has not been announced, but, according to insiders, before 2015 the picture is not worth waiting: Marvel has released in theaters continuation of "Iron Man," "Thor," "First Avenger" and run the "Guardians of the Galaxy" and among other things, bring on the big screens of the new superhero - Ant-Man.
Details about the television "Avengers" are not informed yet. Earlier it was reported that Marvel wants to create a show that will be in spirit and mood of the film resemble Weedon, but it does not employ any full-length characters from the strip. However, the Marvel Universe allows us to introduce many new characters.
Joss Weedon will develop a series for the ABC studio and Marvel. On television, the director feels like a fish in water, so for this project, too, do not worry.
It is interesting, that the channel ABC is not abandoned plans for a series about the Hulk, which was attributed to Guillermo del Toro. In May, ABC Entertainment president insisted that the next season (i.e. 2013) TV series will be ready.
