Once again the third victory in the American box office went to the movie by Christopher Nolan. Only on Friday, 30 July, "Inception" gave way to lead a novice, which, however, did not prevent to achieve the final victory over the weekend. In the third weekend the release of fi thriller has lost 35,7% of its results a week ago and earned 27.5 million dollars, bringing the total cash to the impressive amount of 193.3 million dollars. Conquest of the 200 millionth milestone is going to be on Tuesday, a 19-day release. Thus, the "Inception" adhered to "Avatar", "Alice in Wonderland" and "Shrek forever", which also won three times in the course of the year. Remarkably, all these movies came out in 3D, and latest projects with such achievement in the 2D-format were "Dark Knight" and "Tropic Thunder" in July-August 2008.

With its new success "Inception" has risen to the seventh line on the charts this year, beating a Sunday cartoon "Despicable Me". Nearly two hundred IMAX cinemas have provided 3.4 million dollars of fresh revenue and 22 million dollars for the entire release period.

At the international box office for the first time the picture came out the winner, earning $ 55 million in 47 territories over the weekend with the general insurer in 171.5 million dollars (364.8 million worldwide).

Better than others among the trio of debutants made comedy "Dinner for Schmucks", which on Friday for one day, even managed to lead movie release chart. However, on second place in the weekend's ambitions paintings Jay Roach is not stretched, but here all the main competitors are left far behind.

The absence of major comedy projects for adult visitors over the past few weeks clearly played into the hands seem relatively good result to "Schmucks", although relatively high estimated 68 million budget film makes payback is not an easy task. The resulting revenue amounted to 23.5 million dollars for a session in 3 400 cinemas looks like the same result of "Funny People" a year ago. Previous movie Steve Carell "Date night" earned on the starting three-day 25.2 million dollars in April, remaining at the box to date with the current insurer in 98.5 million dollars.

Audience of "Dinner for Schmucks" by 55% consisted of male viewers, 54% of visitors sessions were over 25 years.

Spy thriller "Salt" held second weekend in full accordance with the traditions of the genre, having lost 46% of eligible earnings debut. 110 millionth picture with Angelina Jolie in the title role earned 19.5 million dollars for a three-day and with 71 million after ten days of release will get approximately 110-120 million of final charges. At the international box office spy video will also become the third with 24.5 million dollars for the weekend (total 32.8 million).

A romantic drama "Charlie St. Cloud" very vigorously launched on Friday, but, like many other well-focused on the fair sex films, deposited rapidly in the course of the weekend. Over the three-day movie with Zac Efron starring has gathered 12.4 million dollars in 2,718 theaters (4555 dollars per each cinema), with 45% of amount had been received on the first day of release.

Compared with other like-genre movies this one significantly has exceeded revenues debut, "Remember Me" this spring and only slightly smaller than walking past summer films "My Sister's Keeper".

For summer movie with a focus on drama the result itself turned out pretty good and generally corresponded to approximately pre-launch projections. 79% of the audience of "Charlie St. Cloud" were women, 58% were younger than 25 years.

Utter failure suffered the most expensive of the new recruits of reporting weekend - created for family audience sequel to "Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore". Accompanied by a major advertising support from movie studios Warner Bros. and its marketing partners, the 85 millionth video will managed somehow scrape together enough pitiful revenue of 12.3 million dollars in 5,200 cinemas and 3,705 theaters (3314 dollars per each cinema). This incredibly weak result is simply amazing, especially when you consider that 2,170 schools have shown a film on one or more three dimensional screens with all the consequences in the form of increased public attention and higher prices for tickets.

Never before had a major release in 3D is not collected at the start so little, especially with such a huge number of cinemas and screens. Released in rent to the Independence Day holiday, nine years ago, the original film earned 21.7 million USD for the three-day and 35.8 million for the first five days of release.

Final charges 93.4 million dollars in U.S. box office and more than 200 million dollars in the world have been recognized, of course, a positive result, but the time for a potential sequel was irretrievably lost. In nine years, not much memorable than decent fees, reel of film in 2001 was simply forgotten, no need to continue to commit was not felt, and the bulk of its audience has long been out of the age of the target audience.

Besides, a genre of family films with talking animals rarely gives success in cash terms of sequels, example of what became "Stuart Little 2", "Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed" and "Garfield 2". According to the number of sold tickets "Revenge of Kitty Galore" yielded approximately three times the original films, as unconditional surrender, and before which appeared in last year's "Darwin's Mission", the result is a time served as the main reference point for it. Studio reaction on such an obvious failure was entirely predictable.

"It's very frustrating - said at the outcome of the weekend head of distribution Warner Bros. Dan Fellman. - I was hoping that the result will be even close to the 20 millionth mark".

Representatives of other competing studios, among the possible causes extremely low fees is called a three-dimensional format, as many potential viewers could choose to refrain from costly campaign in the movie on proposed rather second-rate product.
At the same time the Warner Bros. totally rejects such assumptions, arguing that in most cinemas had a choice between conventional and three-dimensional format. According to distributors, the share of three-dimensional screens had 55% of the total fund weekend, 54% of the audience belonged to the male sex, while 46% - younger than 18 years.

The family comedy "Ramona and Beezus" shedding 53% of its revenue debut and finished 11th place with 3.71 million dollars for the weekend. Following ten days of release 15 millionth picture on a series of popular children's books in the U.S. has collected 16.4 million dollars and can conclude with near 25-million mark.

Three films started promisingly enough in limited theaters. The clear leader in this company was a comedy "Get low", starring Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Bill Murray, who has collected 88,2 thousand dollars in two theaters in New York and two in Los Angeles with a best result of the weekend at an average revenue from the site (22,046 dollars).
The French film "Concert" has been released in one cinema in the same cities, earning 20,1 thousand dollars for a three-day (10 050 with the institution). In a very similar situation comedy has launched the "Extra Man" with John C Reilly, Paul Dano, Kevin Klein and Katie Holmes, in an asset which is 18,9 thousand dollars for the first three days of release (9431 dollar theater).
At next week's clash with the "Inception" and the rest of the rent will come two new releases. Here is a favorite of police comedy "The Other Guys" with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, released in 3400 cinemas. In no small audience can expect as a dance drama "Step Up 3D", which try their hand at a three-dimensional format on the screen of 2,200 cinemas.

Nicolas Cage left Nicole Kidman and Joel Schumacher

The movie "Trespass" suffered loss in the person of Nicolas Cage, who, as said insiders, one day made a trick with the disappearance of the project. Director Joel Schumacher immediately looks for a replacement.

Cage was supposed to play a husband of the heroine Nicole Kidman. In the story they are held hostage by four bandits seeking easy money.

Shooting begins in two weeks in Louisiana. But a couple of weeks ago, the actor decided that he does not want to play the role of the hostage, but instead will be a negative character. Studio went to meet him and gave him the role of the perpetrator. In spouses heroine Kidman has been appointed Liv Schreiber, but he still only considers the contract. Next, Nicolas Cage has disappeared.

As written by insiders who know the site Deadline, last week, Cage dropped out of sight of the producers and went to vocation, perhaps on the Bahamas. Nobody could get the actor and find out what was the reason for such behavior.

Producers will have to urgently find an adequate replacement to Cage. The film's budget is small, only 35 million dollars, so that to ascribe a star class is unlikely to succeed. And Nicolas Cage, no matter what emotions are not caused by a number of spectators, is still a high-class actor. By the way, the star fee was 7 million dollars.

Stopping production may result in decent lawsuits.

Last year, Nicolas Cage refused to play the main villain in the "Green hornet".

The reason why the actor was out of the project, usually called "creative difficulties". Director Michel Gondry did not like the idea of Cage to make his hero a native of Jamaica.

UPD: Nicholas Cage has changed his mind and returned to the project. And in the role of Kidman heroine's husband.

- If you were a spy, what would be your strong point and what would be your weakness?
My weakness would be that I absolutely can't lie! But I purposeful and always know how to gather and concentrate on the goal.

- You're practically the only actress who can alone make an action-movie - to play her heroine, without needing a partner. What's your secret?
It's simple: I really love actions! I love different tricks, shooting fights, jumping from heights and so on. And if you work with a pleasure, the better the result of this work and to please the audience: they see and feel that you are pleased.

- No doubt your children are very happy that their mom is a superheroine? I've heard that you often take them on shooting?
Yeah, quite often. They, of course, like everything, but for them I especially mom, and mom can't be super cool for their children. They prefer to watch everything explodes, flies, falls. Even they like of safety harness for the actors, they had put it and hang out at a height somewhere.

- Looking at your competition with Brad characters in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", many viewers think: Do not hurt him that fact that his girlfriend, action-hero is better than he?
Oh, no! (Laughs) I think that we are about equal in this. And we both have long miss working with each other.

- Okay. You must be glad of the forthcoming trip to Russia. What are your plans, except of, in fact, the premiere?
Yes, I would like to meet with some Russian film-makers and representatives of the authorities, to communicate with them, just to make a little more about modern Russia. So look forward.

- But in ordinary life are you more open person, or you close?
Well, I think that probably the first. Of course, I have something, than I'm not going to share here so soon, but I'm still pretty open person. Because it was part of the acting profession: to make people believe you, your game, you have to open them.

"Lock Out" plot resembles movie "Taken". Guy Pearce will play a man convicted of spying against the United States. One of the most intriguing rumors of summer becomes a story about Quentin Tarantino, who is assigned to a new comic book adaptation of "The Shadow". Director of "Pulp Fiction" not only wants to make a film, but also to write the new script.

The information has been given by the authors of Pajiba blog, so now we may consider it just rumors. However, sources at the site is pretty reliable, so that the project is now entirely on the conscience of Tarantino, who could easily give it up.

In March of this year, studio Sony got rid of the rights to remake "Shadow". They acquired the studio 20th Century Fox. For a long time, Sam Raimi has made a movie for comic book about the ex-convict who became a champion on the road to crime. Producer tried to buy the film rights back in the late 80's, but failed. Now he finally left the project.

Today insiders claim that Fox is in talks with Quentin Tarantino. Moreover, they have already agreed and will now begin processing of the current script.

After the release of "Inglorious Bustards" Tarantino lay down on the bottom. He talked at length about his ambitious plans during a press tour. Among them is the third part of "Kill Bill" spaghetti westerns on slavery, adaptation spy novels Leigh Dayton, a film about gangsters 30's and even a documentary film about Harvey Weinstein. It is possible that "Shadow" will become another abandoned project by director.

The Shadow himself appeared in the information space of the U.S. in 30-ies. He was created for radio, but then spread over a variety of media.

Comics, books, magazines, films, serials - reluctant hero was very popular. Released in 1994, "Shadow" has not become a big hit, but instead set development of character.

According to the western sites, if someone could persuade the viewer to forget about the current film adaptation with Alec Baldwin, it's Quentin Tarantino.

“Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore”

Every year on the screens we are welcome to watch a lot of films about animals. Mostly about dogs. They have long been no originality. Everything is done on a stamp and "Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore" has the same problem. It is clearly a parody of movies about the "Bond" and not only. This film is about a spy but instead them there are dogs and cats. They also will perform the same function. Although these films originally made for the audience to 11 inclusive. For small, especially for the little ones, this film is that it is necessary. Here cute doggie and kitty saves the world and so on.

If I didn't like thin movie, I'd say that it's too childish and adults do not like. Kids will be delighted. 3D's bad. At least some things you can watch and without glasses. There are, of course, good moments, but few of them. Parodies of the films here struck me as superfluous. Dialogues are terrible. The story is very incoherent. That's it. The disadvantages are no more.

But therefore, I think this tape is rather positive. You just have to awaken a child. Do not strain. And not even look for a sense or morality. Just relax and enjoy. Do not severely criticize this film. It does not deserve. For now, almost all films of this kind are criticized by audiences and critics undeservingly.

The film is quite simple and something very trivial. From nowhere came a super villain Kitty Galore, and decided to do something very terrible and deal with all mankind. In response to what the eternal enemies of cats and dogs have decided to unite for a common goal, that is to say, the salvation of men.
Of course, there is a logical question: actually, why they had not understood that they have a common goal, would unite the long common efforts, and it would be all good. But OK, the movie still for the children, do not forget it. But at the same time was surprised that in the tape, a very good morality, Why did not exist in the original, and it is this: should not be judged at first glance and the first meeting, you need to understand each other and go forward, that is, to live harmoniously. Here, even virtually no completely negative characters, even the main villain of the beginning of their crimes because of the plight. And the final hint at that she would soon join the newly created alliance.

Despite the fact that "Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore" a debut work a little-known film director Brad Peyton, the film is made solidly. Special effects are at a very high level. I looked in the usual format, and didn't regret it on the big screen looks very spectacular and had a wish to see it in volume. Very pleased that the film is very dynamic, in that respect it is much better than the original, which still places it was a little boring, but here the action without stopping. While unfortunate that it became less a "housekeeping" and all too globally, the atmosphere is not enough. And the actor playing well at zero, although the animal characters are very pleased, like everything.
Soundtracks sometimes good, although cool remixes of songs are annoying.

P.S: The film is surprisingly snug. This is a case where the sequel, if not better than the original, at least on a par with them. Recommended!

Nick Cave will rewrite “The Crow”

The last time a new "Crow" recalled at the beginning of summer, when the producer of the project, Edward Pressman said that director Stephen Norrington finished writing the script. The result of the producer described as "excellent". The authors have changed the design, promised a realistic approach and location in Arizona, Mexico and Detroit.

Looks like the splendor in the script Norrington was not enough. This week, Pressman told journalists of The Wrap, that he has attracted Nick Cave to the cooperation. A musician will have to rewrite the script. The Pressman choice certainly deserves respect: Cave linked not only with the band The Bad Seeds, but also with the literature. Recently, it was published his second novel "The Death of Bunny Munro". At first the book was conceived as a screenplay for John Hillcoat. Cave worked with him on the "The Proposition", and over the tape "Ghosts of the civil death" which became a musician's debut on the scenario field.

Last year it became known that Cave has adapted the novel "The Wettest County in the World" for Hillcoat. To the main role it's planned to take Shia LaBeouf, but something went wrong, and the project stalled. Now he is more alive than dead, but so far is at a very early stage of development.

Russell Crowe turned to Nick Cave with a request to write the script for "Gladiator," which ended a 20-minute battle scene in Vietnam, and then transferred to a toilet of Pentagon. But the concept of the hero Crowe as the eternal warrior did not get the studio because of inability to finance the project.

In coming weeks we can expect from the producers the name of the artist role of Eric Draven.

“Date Night” review

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)
Loading ... Loading ...

Recently to shot an excellent comedy is not something that is extremely difficult, but the task is clearly not an easy one. Genre is how easy it is so hard and come up with something new that could have made the audience laugh throughout the film. Even harder in today's stream of movies to find something

that would not only bring a smile, but also raise any interesting issues of life. And the creators of "Date Night" wanted to create exact such film. You know what? If they hadn't Steve Carell and Tina Fey, I bet anything they would not work.

At the beginning of the movie we see successful married couple with two children, but immersed in the routine of everyday life. Fosters (Carell and Fey) work, raising children and, once a week, like many couples in America, go to the so-called "Date Night" - evening for meetings, in order to diversify their life.

But one day after learning that their friends are getting divorced because they could not longer tolerate the daily dullness in their relations, the main characters decide to add some fun to "date night" and go to the most expensive restaurant in Manhattan ... Then come two buck, putting to their heads and trunks require that they had stolen from their boss. You expect me to say that from this moment and start all the fun? So it is true, but fun just rises more and more.

Two of the most popular comedian of the American TV could not, once, in one project does not show itself in all their glory. Steve Carell and Tina Fey is burning in every frame, their dialogues - is a treasure chest of jokes of the highest quality, humor, knockdowns. In all of this, while watching the credits appear, that most of jokes - improvisation by the actors. All the main jokes - is a merit of the two main actors. Supporting the same role, which did not sit past actors, laugh more images than dialogue.

"Date Night" - a film for young and old, would that not lead the children there, a couple of scenes, and the replica need to put them in an archive as a joking matter, but urgent, and that it is not rejected. Comedy is a popular genre and it will always go therefore, such films will be produced like a flow, especially in the factory of dreams, without worrying about the quality of the final product. Drown in this sea of dirty jokes very easily, and so glad that we sometimes give excellent examples of how to make genre films, not to be ashamed in front of the audience.
