Paul Walker in French remake of “District 13″
Pierre Morel thriller "District 13" will turn into remake called "Brick Mansions". The movie script has been written by Luc Besson seven years ago with a view of American reality. David Bell, who played a major role in the original, will back in the English version together with Paul Walker.
The film was developed in Paris in 2010, which because of rampant crime, some very dangerous areas fenced off from the wealthier districts by a concrete wall. Behind the wall is thriving trade in arms and drugs, the schools and hospitals don’t work, the police protects only themselves, and a ball is ruled by gangs. The leader of one of them had acquired himself a neutron bomb, and to eliminate it, in the 13th District is sent special forces officer Damien. Damien together with Leyte (David Belle), whose sister kidnapped by the same gang leader, starts the war inside the district.
"District 13" was the directorial debut work of Pierre Morel. His second picture has become "Taken" thanks to which the director has received worldwide recognition.
City, where there will be actions of "Brick Mansions" is not yet known, but most likely it will be Chicago. Paul Walker plays undercover detective, searching for weapons of mass destruction, stolen by drug dealer of ghetto brick mansion. Detectives appealed for help to an expert on the region Lino (Belle), the only person who is not afraid of the bandits.
It is known that many Hollywood actors would get the role of Leno, but Luc Besson did not want to run a remake in production, if this role is played by David Belle, parkour founder of the global movement.
Remake is produced by Europa Corp, owned by Besson. While not called a name of director, but most likely it will be another protege of Luke.
Paul Walker will star in "Brick Mansions" before go to the set of "Fast and the Furious 6."
