MGM has found script writer for “The Magnificent Seven”

To remake of western "The Magnificent Seven" for some time is attributed Tom Cruise, but so far the project has not has a writer. MGM Studios has entrusted the work of remaking pictures of a young screenwriter Nick Pitstsolatto in the filmography of which there are two series - "Murder" and "True Detectives".

Recall that a film by John Sturges “The Magnificent Seven" was released in 1960 and was itself a remake. The original band was called "Seven Samurai", took in 1954 by Akira Kurosawa. However, the story outline has not changed: the oppressed peasants hire seven samurai (or, as in the case of Sturges, Cowboys), so they saved their village from bandits.

"Seven Samurai" received the "Silver Lion" in Venice Film Festival and nominated for two awards "Oscar" (the best work of the artist's best work, and dresser in black and white film). Remake is also nominated for an Academy Award, but only in the category "Best Soundtrack".

"The Magnificent Seven" spawned three sequels, but without the participation of Steve McQueen, and most other actors. From the film in 1960 in "Return of the Magnificent Seven" (1966) there was only Yul Brynner, and the "Magnificent seven Guns" (1969) and "The Magnificent Seven back in the saddle" (1972) and are done without the original stars.

In 1998 was launched television series based on the "Magnificent Seven" by Michael Bean, stayed on the CBS Television Network until 2000.

Filming of the new version will begin not soon: the script will take time, and the schedule of Tom Cruise is very tight. The release date of the movie is too early to say yet.

Nick Pitstsolatto who will write a new version of "The Magnificent Seven", in his youth had managed to sell two of his first stories in the magazine and in 2006 he published a collection of short stories, followed in 2010, followed by a first novel. Pitstsolatto wrote two episodes of the series “Assassination” and worked on the mini-series directed by Cary Fukunaga, "True Detectives", which will be removed Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
