George Clooney movie on Venice Film Festival
The tape of George Clooney, "The Ides of March" will open the upcoming Venice Film Festival. In this political drama, starring himself, George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Evan Rachel Wood, Marisa Tomei, Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Funding for the project Clooney was trying to find about three years. Earlier the film was called "Farragut North" (Washington Metro station name). Its basis is a play of Bo Uillimon. Inspiration for its author drew from his own experience in 2004 during the election campaign of former Governor of Vermont Howard Dean on his nomination as a candidate for the presidency of the Democratic Party.
The play and the script (the author - himself Uillimon) takes place in Des Moines, Iowa, for some time before the formal meeting will be held on party leaders discuss the candidates for future nominees. The protagonist of Stephen Myers - a successful young press secretary, whose career as senior associates decides to donate to the party.
Myers plays Ryan Gosling, who had replaced Leonardo DiCaprio. In addition, in the same role as Clooney's planning to take Chris Pine, embodied the image of Myers in a theatrical setting.
The U.S. premiere is scheduled for October 2011.
Venice Film Festival will be held from August 31 to September 10. Chairman of the jury is Darren Aronofsky.
