FOX is looking for director for “Wolverine”
Two months ago, Darren Aronofsky refused to shoot sequel to "Wolverine" with Hugh Jackman. Since then the studio Fox continues to search a candidate for the director's chair of the project. Number of applicants down to eight people. Among them Doug Liman and Justin Lin.
Fully eight looks like this: Doug Liman, James Mangold, Justin Lin, Antoine Fuqua, Mark Romanek, Jose Padilla, Gavin O'Connor and Gary Shore.
The loudest name is Doug Liman. He shot the first part of the trilogy of Jason Bourne, in his account thriller "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," a fantasy "Jumper" and the political thriller "Fair Game" Lyman flirts simultaneously with several projects - from the film adaptation of "The Three Musketeers" to the filming manga "All You Need Is Kill".
James Mangold, proved his worth as a versatile director, took the romantic comedy "Kate & Leo" the drama "Girl, Interrupted", a mystical horror "Identification", biopic "Walk the Line" and western "Train to Hume." His action comedy "Knight and Day" deserved a better reception - the film has collected only 260 million in worldwide box office.
Justin Lin is famous by the franchise, "Fast and the Furious." Fifth film series has already collected in world box office more than 500 million dollars. It was assumed that Lin will stage the next "Terminator", but due to the freezing career of Arnold Schwarzenegger future continuation is uncertain.
Antoine Fuqua is known as the director of "Training day", which brought Oscar to Denzel Washington. Director made an upgraded version of the adventures of King Arthur's thriller "Shooter", but "Brooklyn police" did not become a hit. For a long time, Fuqua was trying to film the story of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.
Mark Romanek is not the best candidate for a major studio project. The director refused to remove "Wolverine", despite the fact that the project was already in full swing. Former clip maker Romanek is known for his drama "One Hour Photo", as well as atmospheric adaptation of the novel "Do not let me go". "Wolverine" can become a producer breakdown in a genre of thriller.
Jose Padilla made a name for the action movie "Elite Squad", which won the Golden Bear at Berlin Film Festival. If director will be approved to "Wolverine", then this will be the second project that Padilla will take from Darren Aronofsky - previously offered to withdraw Jose remake "Robocop", which has long been attached to Aronofsky.
Gavin O'Connor shot a police thriller "Pride and Glory", and this year he filmed the picture "Warrior", where on the ring will face two increasingly popular actors - Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton.
Gary Shore - the unknown name in the list. For him can speak a trailer for the film, the work of a young filmmaker. Its action is developing in Japan, as the action of "Wolverine." As far as we know, the project remained on trailer stage.
