Universal Studio is developing the film "Charles Fort" of the compilers of handbooks on sensationalism and pioneer of UFO movement. Speaking the language of Hollywood, it would be "Ghostbusters" of early XX century. Robert Zemeckis took over producing the picture and Evan Spiliotopulos writes a script.
In the early twentieth century American Charles Fort has inherited his uncle's business, dismantled it and got enough money to indulge his hobby - watching all the filings of the scientific and popular publications in English in search of facts, inexplicable in terms of the Science. For 30 years, Fort was filing a data of unexplained cases and has written several novels. In one of his books, he suggested that all events on Earth are made by aliens, but in a fit of depression, the author has burnt his works. The main work in the life of Charles Fort was the "Book of the Damned," published in 1919.
Charles Fort was one of the first authors who tried to explore all sorts of anomalies - from levitation and teleportation to abduction by aliens. After Charles death his novel has filed 60 000 notes. About his work has been written many books and in 2002 the publisher Dark Horse Comics released a series called "Fort Prophet inexplicable. " In it Charles acts as an adventurer, who faced with various aliens and paranormal phenomena. The action takes place in late XIX - early XX century.
Along with Zemeckis to produce "Charles Fort" will be also Mike Richardson from Dark Horse. The script writes Evan Spiliotopulos who worked on the fairy tale "Snow White and the Hunter" and "Ouija". It is safe to assume that "Charles Fort" will be far from dull biopic.
Robert Zemeckis himself is preparing to shoot his first in a long time feature film "Flight" with Denzel Washington. Will he direct "Charles Fort" we shall see soon.
