Banshee - a new project of Cinemax, has already received an order for the whole season, the show producer is Alan Ball.
Lucas Hood - the protagonist - has just been released from prison, where stayed for fifteen years. Despite this, he hijacked a car and sent to a former accomplice Job to find out where the man lives, he is looking for. Immediately after speaking with Job for Lucas begin to follow, then he becomes the victim of several unsuccessful attempts.
After retiring from the pursuit, Lucas arrives in town Banshee with a population of 11.400 people where is hiding a man, whom he is looking for. Going to a bar on the outskirts of town, Lucas met with an elderly bartender Sugar Bates, a former boxing champion at light heavyweight. With Bates, who served eight years, Lucas quickly finds a common language. Another of his interlocutor is a new sheriff of the city, coming into office next week.
During their conversation in a bar come two bandits, as it turns out later - the tax collectors. The new sheriff does not know the local orders and tries to stop them. In the ensuing firefight were killed two bandits and the sheriff. Lucas realizes that he is trapped in a very unpleasant story, especially since the criminals were killed worked for the Kay Proctor, a local godfather, which controls the entire city.
Leaving the bar, Lucas meets a man whom he was looking for - a woman named Carrie Hopewell. Fifteen years ago, together they had stolen from Mr. Rebbita, Ukrainian mafia boss, diamonds worth $ 10 million. Lucas wants to get a share due to him, but it turns out that the Serbian mafia took from Kerry all the stones. However, over the years, she managed to come up with a true legend, raising a family, have two children. Her husband - a city prosecutor.
Lucas returns to Bates, and together they bury the bodies. In the sheriff wallet Lucas finds ID card and could not believe his eyes: the killed man name is Lucas Hood. And our hero appears crazy idea - to usurp the identity of the deceased. In this case, he helps the Job - a hacker that can hack any system, providing necessary documents by Lucas. The new sheriff has not been seen, nobody knows how he looks. After receiving the work and guidance from the Mayor, Lucas tries on a suit of law guardian...
The only thing that attracts in Banshee - the name of Alan Ball. The plot and characters as if taken from the rebels "B" category. All over the standard:
- A hero got out of prison;
- On a hunting ex-employers to get even (they hurt to do it while Lucas was in jail?)
- The bad guys from the former Soviet Union;
- A small town, ruled by a cool uncle;
- Ex-girlfriend, tied to the past and start life from scratch ...
In this set we could not have been surprised, and ten years ago, not to mention about today. The authors use the required pieces of cable channels: practically all the female characters are stripped, the scenes of violence are trying to match the rating - but it helps a little clichéd stories.
While the Banshee is interesting only one element, which is barely touched on in the pilot, and who, presumably, will continue in the future: a former offender was on the side of the law and decided to go against the bad guys.
Breaking Bad received two WGA awards - for best drama and for the best episode. In this regard, the journalists decided to try the series creator - Vince Gilligan, who spoke about last season and how to roll Walter.
To begin with a short-recall where we left off. Walt (played by Brian Krenson) went to Tio Salamanca in a conspiracy against their common enemy in order to lure out of the lair and lure in a nursing home, "Casa Tranquilo." But there is rather helpless paralytic, fraternized with the authorities, Gus Fring Tio waited in a wheelchair, stuffed with explosives.
In the fifth - and final extended to sixteen episodes - season "we are on the same path, which went on for four seasons" - Gilligan said at the award ceremony WGA, where the authors Breaking Bad grabbed the award in two categories at once.
"We, in fact, took good-natured protagonist, and turned him into a villain. And to the bottom of the black hole into which he jumped without anyone forcing, Walter White has to fall and fall. "
But is it required to keep such a way? Walt threw superboss of laboratory, which is only waiting for a pretext to get rid of, once again won the confidence of Jesse, and for several seasons as the best shot to fame on the continent, the manufacturer of methamphetamine. Why not to stop and did not return to normal life, without waiting for the arrest or death in a gang’s hands?
"Hmm, good question," - thought Gilligan. "Oppression is a line of Walt for the benefit of his family or the fact there are other reasons? Do not implicated here egocentricity and megalomania? Not if he gets on his actions sincere pleasure? Do not intoxicated if his power? These questions, in my opinion, everyone should ask themselves, who faced a choice - take it on or turn back. "
Another question is the answer to which we will look at the swan song of Breaking Bad (which is considered by many to be two verses): who will replace Gus Fring and will become the new real obstacle to Walt for world domination?
Reminding us that Gus was a "wonderful character" played "a wonderful actor," Giankarlo Esposito, Gilligan acknowledged that the death of this "godfather" leaves a huge hole in the soul of the series. "But I want to believe that Walter White, and, perhaps, other characters will be able to patch it."
"Now, everything will be different, but no less interesting!" - Added Gilligan. - "And you're right, we pulled up the bar inexcusable high".
In the spring of 2010, Lily Collins has been approved for a major role in the film "Romeo and Juliet" directed by Carlo Karleya, but a year later, the actress dropped out of the project, and her place was taken by Haley Staynfeld. However, the role of Juliet Collins did not get away with: an actress is invited to play a Shakespearean character name in the drama "Rosaline."
The novel of writer Rebecca Searle, "When you were mine» will be released on May 1, 2012. But right on its screen version has been purchased in advance by studio Fox 2000, so work on the production is already underway. The director was listed Michael Sachs, whose debut TV movie "Grey Gardens" brought the two 'Golden Globe': Drew Barrymore and producers for the best mini-series or movie on TV.
"Rosaline" will look at the famous Shakespeare's tragedy on the other side. The main character will be lord Capulet's niece Rosaline, to which such a hurry to meet a young Romeo, but met with Juliet, momentarily forgot the cold beauty. Shakespearean purists should not be angry eyes sparkle: history will be moved in our days.
They are made for each other - Rose and Rob. At least, so says Rose, she was waiting for a kiss forever young, and when that happened, everything was perfect! But when Juliet returned to the city, before the former best friend Rose, everything goes down the drain. Juliet inexplicably hates Rose and, being a beautiful girl, vengeful and a little crazy, puts an eye on Rob. The guy has no chance.
The novel is adapted by Scott Neystadter and Michael H. Weber, who wrote the romantic comedy "500 Days of Summer."
In the role of Rosaline will star Deborah Ann Wall, familiar to fans of the series "True Blood" on the role of the red-haired vampire Jessica. Romeo will play the brother of James Franco, Dave Franco.
If Lily Collins gets this role, it will be her first job after the film "Snow White: Revenge of the Dwarfs." Earlier, the actress dropped out of the new version of "Evil Dead".
TV series "Kolchak: Night Stalker" was on American television in the mid 70s and was again under scrutiny Disney. Studio wants to make a film version of the series, and the role of Carl Kolchak - reporter of yellow paper, for some time is attributed to Johnny Depp. The director of the project selected the Englishman Edgar Wright, who shot such films as "Shaun of the Dead," "Hot Fuzz" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World."
It is interesting the career of Depp. He had just finished the movie on the series of his dreams, "Dark Shadows", where he played a vampire and in "Kolchak" his hero would suspect that a serial killer who hunts for the police, in fact, a vampire.
The appearance of the series with Darren McGevin in the title role was preceded by two TV movies - "Night Stalker" and "The Night Strangler." Carl Kolchak originally appeared in the novel by Jeffrey Grant Rice "Kolchak Papers". The script of the first film has been written by Richard Matheson, author of the novels "What Dreams May Come" and "I - the legend." "Night Stalker" was shown on TV January 11, 1972, and received the highest rating for a television movie for its time.
Then the channel ABC asked Matheson to write a script for the sequel. "The Night Strangler" also proved popular, and Rice wrote a novelization of the movie. Thus, reporter of tabloid Carl Kolchak gradually became regular at the TV screen. Although the TV series "Kolchak: Night Stalker" survived for only one season, on it have worked screenwriter of trilogy "Back to the Future" Bob Gale and future creator of "The Sopranos" David Chase. Since the studio did not bother to obtain the consent of the author's novels, Rice filed on ABC to court, resulting in, the writer's name is listed in the credits of the show.
The series has not received and the proportion of the popularity enjoyed by the movies, and has been closed. In the wake of the success of "The X-Files" ABC tried to revive Kolchak - in 2005 a reporter took a form of actor Stuart Townsend and continued hunting for vermin. Despite the fact that the creator of "The X-Files" Chris Carter pointed out the "Night Hunter" one of the sources of inspiration, a new version of "Kolchak" lived only ten episodes.
Johnny Depp's company Infinitum Nihil, and the Disney studio joined in the film version of "Kolchak" last summer, but due to permanent employment of the actor, the project stalled for a long time. Then, in July of 2011, Disney and Infinitum Nihil planned to work on another project - a film about the hero of the War of Independence United States Golf Revere.
Edgar Wright has long been attributed to the adaptation of the comic book "Ant-Man," but in view of the project with Depp, it is shifted indefinitely again. Wright's last film was put on the graphic novels "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and was very poorly at the box office, earning only 46.5 million dollars with a budget of 60 million.
House of Cards before reaching the screen had pretty made some noise. The project deals with Netflix, the battle for the serial cable bypassed known brands. Given the dominant role of the Netflix streaming video on the market, many companies are already predicting the fate of HBO. Secondly, the project received an unprecedented order at once for two seasons (26 episodes). Even the cable channels today prefer to test pilot, and then ordered the entire season. Given that the shooting of one series would cost $ 4-6 million, we are talking about investments in more than $ 100 million. Risky project. If you do not say more. Third, David Fincher has agreed to deliver the first series. Starred Kevin Spacey. Fincher, Spacey, Eric Roth (screenwriter movie "Forrest Gump," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Your Man"), Joshua Donen will act as executive producers. Bo Uillimon ("The Ides of March") will be a show runner of the series. He also wrote the pilot, which will begin shooting this spring. The premiere is scheduled for autumn.
At a meeting of the Democratic Party, Francis "Frank" Underwood says a solemn speech in honor of U.S. elect President Garrett Walker. Frank - Richard III, Iago and Hannibal Lector in one person, cunning and clever. Frank is largely contributed to the election of Garrett, backed by the right people and finding sponsors for the campaign. During his political career he has seen a lot, but after spending a congressman in the Senate many years, decided to work well-deserved rest at the White House. If is elected, he promised him the post of defense minister. However, Frank learns that the position went to another. Frank sees the new government in the Senate, where it can promote the adoption of laws. Frank - a man of the old school, he used to play by the rules, principal among them - to contain promises. He does not show the anger and wrath, but a plan for revenge has already begun to mature in his head...
Zoe Barnes - a smart and hungry for sensational news reporter in the newspaper «Washington Gerald». Usually, she highlights the work of the city council, which would be handled the random words. Zoe wants to write about politics and events in the White House, but this she has yet to grow and grow. She is well versed in the internal political intrigues, and understands that the post of minister of defense was prepared for Frank. Coming to his home, Zoe suggests making an agreement, but has no idea that she will become a pawn in Frank’s game.
The first draft of the new government will focus on education reform. Frank offered to take a look at the text of the law and make the necessary corrections. The project is still too raw and "left" for the current government. But this Draft Frank "merges" Zoe, who writes a crushing article provides a first strip in the new issue of the newspaper ...
These characters and events - just a few of the actors and story lines, designated in the script of Bo Uillimona. House of Cards - a good example of a pilot for cable television. The absence of an exciting story writer redeems much more important factor for the series – the heroes and their characters. Not surprisingly, the project has attracted the attention of so many famous people. There is no doubt that in addition to Kevin Spacey in the series we will see many familiar faces. Why not? It's simple - even the minor characters are multi-faceted, well spelled out and look like real people with their positive qualities and shortcomings.
House of Cards, to some extent resembles the "Ides of March": a slow, thoughtful and attentive to detail, with the conflicts within the party and a statement of the thesis "journalism and politics - a hell mixture."
Ray Donovan - a new project of the channel Showtime, telling about man, who settles the most delicate and slippery issues in the world of famous and wealthy people in Los Angeles. Liev Schreiber will play a major role.
Ray Donovan, 45, wakes up from loud rap music. Not having to be a curse, he is forced to answer a phone call. Deonte, rising star in the NBA, in a panic has found next to him a woman who died from a drug overdose. Ray specializes in such cases. If you have a lot of money, you live in Los Angeles, and you need to hush up a case, Ray - your person.
Getting out of bed, Ray, first call Avi-Jew, his chief assistant, characterized in solid muscle with fat, ordered him to get to the hotel, where Deonte lives and "clean up" the room. The second call goes twenty eight years old Lena, the second mate, loving same-sex date for one night.
Ray calls Lee Drexler, one of the lawyers who control the city of angels. Lee is furious antics of Tommy Jenkins, a young Hollywood star, who is coming in a month two hundred millionth heterosexual blockbuster, but a couple of days ago, a guy picked up a ladyboy on Sunset Boulevard. Ray finds a way to kill two birds with one stone, "provides" an alibi to Deonte, and Tommy left with a dead girl, thoroughly tidied up in a hotel room that police have no doubts in the usual overdose. After that anonymous reports to journalists about the incident. Tommy Ray warns that he will have to go through the ninety-day course of treatment in drug treatment clinic, but his sexual orientation is now no one will cause problems, but on drugs in Hollywood for a long time nobody pays attention.
And this is only the beginning of the day. Ray's next client - Stu Feldman, requiring follow up his mistress, Ashley Rucker, famous pop singer. The last time Ray saw Ashley more than ten years ago (she was then sixteen), helping in the process against parents who have decided to take all her money. Starting follow Ashley, Ray and Avi noticed stalker, watching the girl. Ray reports that Ashley, quickly realizes that man has been hired by Stu. Ashley is an epileptic and weird girl who immediately sunk to the Ray and trying to get him into bed.
And if you think that the work of Ray is a real madhouse, you still do not know anything about his family. Ray is married to Abby. They have two children: Bridget (14) and Conor (12). Ray does not like to talk about his relatives. His mother died when he was a child. The sister committed suicide at the age of seventeen. Ray has two brothers: Terry, who suffers from Parkinson's disease after boxing career, but still finds the strength to keep the gym where he trains young boxers, and Bunch, who was raped by a priest as a child and now he can’t survive without serious binge for more than a couple of months. After meeting with his brothers, Ray finds out that a few days ago to the freedom was released Mickey Donovan, their father, being in jail for twenty years. If ever there were a man whom Ray hates most of all, it is - no doubt his father. Ray warns Terry to stay away from Mickey, if he does not want to lose his gym, and Bunch advised to forget about his existence, if he wants to save $ 1.4 million, recently adjudged at the church. But Bunch does not listen to Ray, and together with farther enjoy coke.
Ray Donovan, having started as another fun gadget from Showtime, rapidly changes its color to dark color: the closer to the ending of the pilot, the harder it becomes darker and the story, making wonder whether the creators dare to further exaggeration.
Producers David Shore and Katie Jacobs, along with the leadership of Fox channel announced the closure of the TV series "House" - the eighth season would be the last one.
The reason for this - falling ratings, as well as the reluctance of the lead actor Hugh Laurie to continue to play the genius misanthrope doctor. The rest of the series has not yet shown to be broadcast until April.
The series "House" is on the air on American television from the fall of 2004. The action of the epic is built around the Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital, located in New Jersey. There works a brilliant diagnostician Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) - a complex person in dialogue, but in fact the only one who can recognize even the most complicated cases, which he investigates with his own team of diagnosticians, but often providing his weighty support in addressing the problem.
He is also quite resourceful person, in order to gain insight into the psychological problems of some of their patients (and colleagues too), which are often not reliably describe the symptoms. Because one of the main principles of the House - "everybody lies".
At the same doctor for many years suffered from pain in his leg, to appease them, he always takes the most powerful painkiller Vicodin, which have formed dependence at House on what being built important aspect of the plot.
The series was one of the main driving forces of the channel, which, however, did not spare it from the lower ratings. "House" has brought Actor Hugh Laurie a wide popularity, as well as two awards "Golden Globe" in the category "Best Actor in a Drama Series."
A considerable share of the glory due to TV series has received and Olivia Wilde, who plays Dr. Remy Hadley, whose sarcastic nickname was Thirteenth.
Among the initiators of the series there is the author of "Suspicious persons" and "X-Men" Bryan Singer, directed two episodes.
Midnight Sun - a new project of NBC channel, a remake of the Israeli series Timrot Ashan (Pillars of Smoke). Lisa Tsverling (ER, Flash Forward, The Event) wrote the script of pilot episode.
Alaska. The town with a population of about 1,500 people. Residential complex "Midnight Sun", which settled environmentalists trying to change life for better. Their community, but rather a sect, is headed by Maxwell Bennett, a charismatic leader with the appearance of Hollywood star. On the sectarians were not paying attention. Until today ... when all 37 people disappeared in unknown direction. They seemed to have evaporated.
To investigate the case is taken Sam Fuller, a deputy of sheriff. Local people used to the oddities of Bennett, but there is a limit. To the surprise of Sam in a few hours of all interested in the FBI, from which comes on the scene agent Leah Kafka. Feds fifteen years closely followed by Maxwell, suspecting him in several acts of eco-terrorism. Bennett owns real estate across the country. His organization received solid contributions. Four years ago, Bennett moved to Alaska, where he founded the "Midnight Sun". Since then, nothing remarkable. The FBI believed that all this time he was getting ready for something serious and the disappearance of people - this is just the beginning of action.
The plot of Midnight Sun can’t be called original. How many TV series / movie about the mysterious occurrences have we seen? Hundreds! However, the script is notable for a rare piece: the main character, Leah Kafka, appears only on the fifteenth page, when a quarter of the history is behind us (in the pilot script - 63 pages). During this time, Lisa Tsverling (Screenwriter) has time to look at Bennett people and walk on their premises through the eyes of four year child, to present a dozen of characters, to initiate an investigation, headed by Sam. If we do not read series description, then we can decide that Sam - the main character. In modern cinema, it is impossible: if the protagonist is not represented in the initial stage, he is obliged to be present in the second. Serial world operates on slightly different rules. But still - a brave and risky move.
Leah - the observer, she does not make decisions, the search for missing directs and coordinates the sheriff Garth Harring. But in order to please and be remembered by the audience, the hero must act, so Leah takes the initiative: poll of local residents, tells them how to organize a search. But her good intentions do not like sheriff, who without the help of "lady in expensive clothes," does well his job. Thus, the writer introduces a line, which is always running - a stranger in a small town, coming into conflict with the local population.
Since Leah is not so simple. She hears strange voices and a bit of suffering hallucinations. Since coming to Alaska, have passed three days, but Leah has not closed her eyes because of the constant sunshine. Her glitches are the blame of insomnia, or something else?
Closer to the finale the girl will establish relations with Sam, with whom she investigates the matter, and they have a number of clues. However, the pilot can’t just go to the blackout. Over the last ten pages of interesting facts emerge about the past of the protagonist, forcing a fresh look at the story. In addition, because of certain events in Leah's suspicions appear that the inhabitants of the town is full of skeletons in the closet. Can she trust them?
Midnight Sun - unhurried detective with good characters and the desired portion of the mystical and mysterious elements. Hopefully, if the channel will order a series, further action is not reduced to the countless secrets for the sake of new secrets, and will emphasize on the characters, atmosphere and stick to more or less verified storyline.
