Alive history in Rome series
"Rome" is the TV series, but only from a formal point of view. Indeed, it consists of 22 series, but in fact it is a historical film, and film of amazing scope and thoughtfulness.
One of the main advantages of "Rome", in my opinion, it's lack of politicization. It is known that it suffers from the overwhelming majority of movies about antiquity, shot in the U.S. I'm talking about movies such as "Julius Caesar" with Jeremy Sisto, or "August" with Charlotte Rampling, which praises the dignity of democracy, struggle with the aristocrats of the Senate, and the history - so looms somewhere in the background.
"Rome" - the exact opposite of such films. There the emphasis is still on the history and the people doing it. And the Roman legionary troops, and the dictator, and conspirators - all the images have turned out surprisingly prominent. You can guess what the characters more sympathetic to the filmmakers, and what - at least (Octavian, for example). But the narrative is constructed in such a way that anyone can draw conclusions for themselves.
In general, drawing each image in detail what, together with enchanting (more neutral epithets here are no good) performance of the actors create an unforgettable impression on the series. I watched "Rome" twice, and during each viewing my preference varied, could not determine who is most like me - so good all the heroes. List of characters I would divide into two groups - 1) those whom I like 2) those whom I don't like. Moreover, not necessarily that the first - white and fluffy, and the second group was only villains. In "Rome" there is no clear division into good and clearly bad. For example, Atia is good or bad? She is always different. Atia conspires, attempts to poison her opponents, she is a bad mother. But the same Atia can sincerely love, and because of her and Mark Antony flirt she is forgiving everything.
Marc Anthony performed by James Pyurfoy - perhaps the most convincing film-livers of recent years. In my opinion, the culmination of the series were the last two series, and the suicide of Mark Antony and Cleopatra did not make cry unless Tin Woodman.
Another one of my favorite character - Lucius Warren (Kevin Mackid). This is again an ambiguous character, brilliantly played a warrior. It seems that the actor from birth acts in historical dramas.
I would point out is not the main, but very colorful news reader (Ian McNeice). It was he who helped to create on-screen image of a convex Rome, the city where the "sponsor of news were made by the guild of bakers". He and many other minute details paint a vivid picture absolutely the Eternal City.
In my opinion, "Rome" on a par with "Gladiator" - the best movies that have been filmed about antiquity in the last ten years.
Flash Forward
TV series "FlashForward" plot:
Events develop after people around the world for two minutes break for 6 months in their future. Then on Earth erupts chaos. And that's not the fact that during those two minutes there were thousands of accidents. Those who saw themselves happy, try hard to bring the moment of happiness.
Others try to change something, or fall into despair. There are those who are in those two minutes just fainted. These people eventually understand why they did not have a vision - a year later they would be dead. Can they change the seen future?
It is a pity that the series ended its existence. Although if it were to take another couple of seasons, that happened just would like Lost - few speakers, the more boring and repetitive scenes, completely unnecessary new storylines, puzzles and characters.
"Flash Forward" certainly can't be compare with "Lost" movie. This is quite different in plot and idea projects. Lost, in turn, has lost its charm, even in the fourth season. And the show Flashforward rapid development began only in the second part of the first season. Every series was really interesting.
Such an vitality, simplicity was present in it from the beginning. No fantasies about extraterrestrial civilizations, magic. Everything is based on the theory, well-thought-out plan, which we and tried to explain. The dates, exact figures, people, evidence, all this confirms the authenticity of what happened.
Such projects are always interesting and daily attract viewers. This gave us a very nice and intrigue daily life. "It can happen!" - I felt while watching the show. Everything is real!
Theme of the future is always interesting. I'm amazed that in this series, this theme so well revealed. There were some interesting ideas for reflection. Of course this series, I'll see once again.
The idea of the series is rather fresh and interesting. All the people on the planet are disabled for 2 minutes 17 seconds and see a small piece of their future. After that, half hoping that everything will come to pass, and the other half is looking for ways to change their future.
Acting is not very strong, but they are coping with their roles. Virtually all this I remained indifferent, as to their heroes, only interested in two characters - FBI agent Janice Huck and Dr Simon Campos. Domenic Monagen is not an ordinary actor, he became known more for the Lost and his character-addict rocker Charlie.
On the whole storyline, and reminds us of the mosaic around some excerpts, and secrets in the next series is usually nothing about the past series does not explicitly recall, inconsiderate people may think that the show did not have enough pieces to the integrity of the plot, but they are enough and all there where it should be (unlike Lost) or hidden until a certain time.
"Like the sun on your face, the dreams of starry nights.
And we are homeward bound. And I.
I want this more than life."
United States of Tara
TV series "United States of Tara" admittedly is not trivial, not simple, not fantastic, but, nevertheless, a fascinating and extremely interesting one. You must agree not often we are offered a story on this (frankly, comes to mind only the comedy "Me, Myself & Irene" with Jim Carrey in the title role, and all).
Drama, tragedy, comedy, just the life of one normal family, but there is one little "but" that spoils the life of our heroes, sometimes this but also helps them, but one little detail makes the series interesting for the viewer and eagerly waiting for continuation.
So, in the center of events - Tara - wife, mother of two teenagers, just a woman who occasionally suffers from dissociative identity disorder.
If ordinary people in stressful situations try to solve problems or crying, or getting drunk, or simply withdraw into themselves, then Tara transforms in the other person, very different from herself.
Tee - Teen, which, like any other teenager trying to stand out among the crowd.
Buck-man, who hates absolutely everyone and Ellis - a housewife, an exemplary wife and mother, who bakes unbelievable cakes.
Each incarnation of Tara knows the secrets of Tara itself.
From the very first series, we, without preamble, dip into the world of such different Tara - we don't know what led to such consequences - stress, or an accident, or genetic predisposition. But we are able to watch how Tara tries to overcome the problems covered her - not enough that she had, cope with the consequences of their "personalities", but just have to watch her daughter - a teenager who is constantly trying to prove that she was grown up, to watch after the son, who are just entering the time of puberty, and finally, Tara shall be faithful and loving wife for her husband....
But how to remain faithful, if those other personalities trying every way to seduce her husband?
Will be there a way out of this difficult situation?
Will Tara have a normal life, like most, and if she can finally be happy without regard for these constants and such rapid changes in her life?
And yet know whether we would ever, why these sorts of people have become "alter ego" of our heroine Tara?
Toni Collette - actress, who has not tired us like Sarah Jessica and that she has talent, unlike some.... She knows how to interest the audience, she knows how to play so she believed, and most importantly you believe her at 100%.
John Corbett - is still an ideal husband, who knows what will happen next, but I want his hero opened and on the other hand, even ugly but still...
Well, nice TV series, looking forward to continuation!
Human Target 11th series, first season
As you've seen, this is review to the 11 series of the first season. Princess of Wales, Victoria falls in love with the usual emergency doctor, Tony, but to avoid a major scandal and save the reputation of the crown, her husband and the court bigwig Tamplton decided to kill lovers.
But their plans are going to be prevented by Mr. Chenz and his team.
Christopher Chenz. A former mercenary who moved to the side of good. His name can be interpreted as "Chance of Christ." That is, Jesus died for our sins, the hero of comics - one of the few people who have decided to still use the second chance which gave them the Messiah to return to normal life and become good citizens. I can't say that fully agree with the Christian interpretation of the existing world order, but I want to notice that the idea of a man who rewrites history and like unknown variable, leads the equation of life (both his own and other people) to the proper form. Such a device, in which all people can normally coexist without devouring one another like scorpions in a jar.
This time the creators make an attempt on the history of relations between Princess Diana and a millionaire Arab Dodi al-Fayed, who mysteriously died in a car crash in a Paris tunnel.
Dynamic plot, a huge number of "battle" scenes, and charming actress, who plays the role of Princess Victoria, a 5-point love story - that's what makes this series special.
And another thing: the plot is a bit like the films "It Happened One Night" and "Roman Holiday", especially the second film as an ordinary guy of unroyal origin helps the princess to get out of scrapes, and the generosity is incomparably more than any prince and knight of the court, nothing in this case does not require replacement. It begins to pinch in heart, when you begin to realize that circumstances are beyond the senses, and the two ideal people to each other will never be together.
Excellent series!
P.S. When the princess was dressed as a simple New York girl, she asked Chenz: "And how is this style?", To which he replied: "A sort of bridges and tunnels", I laughed so hard that I almost tore my stomach, because in my city the most fashionable girls dress that way, and at the same time see themselves as stars of Hollywood.

Day Break
Please do not believe anyone who says that TV series "Day Break" is the second "Groundhog Day". Saying this just to attract the ears of two different films. Something common between them is fit in a single phrase: "Well, of course, here and there one day is repeated again and again." Saying that the only reason why movies can be considered the same, does not understand the difference between the tool and created with the help of this tool creation.
Trying to pick up analogy is rather boring job. Let them engage those who have not appreciated this series. Because the series itself is entangled and brilliantly filmed action. The script does not give attention to rest a minute. Dynamics of times such that the wind whistles in your ears. Wonderful acting. The only one who looks bored, pale, - Mun Bladgut as girlfriend of the main hero. Her face has frozen with the French cream, and incomprehensible to him, she is happy something or, conversely, is going through.
Detective Brett Hopper - a good cop who gets sucked into the vortex of terrible events, which may result in damaged it, people close to him, his colleagues. He is charged with murder, which he did not commit. And further his actions lead to various unpleasant consequences. But all is not so easy, because he had to endure the same day over and over again. But, in general, and the whole plot of this is not much loses and it can be called good. However, it is better not to stretch to view a few weeks to get a better grasp on all plot reversals.
The events of the series initially developed very rapidly, laying the intrigue. And the first few series swallow in a single breath. Means to get a few crumpled, with certain storylines sagging.
One of the major pluses I would call good for the series cast, in which the majority coped with their roles. Executive starring Tay Diggz, Victoria Pratt, Ramon Rodriguez and Adam Baldwin. And naturally good Mitch Pilledzhi (worked on "X-Files").
Plus would like to note how well everything had been lifted and delivered. By the way, the operator Bill Rowe also worked on "X files". So, I don't even want to pick on this series.
In general, a decent detective mini-series about good and bad guys, about betrayal and friendship, which is a real pleasure to watch.
Would recommend to watch it no more than three or four sitting, otherwise the end of the thread of the plot can be lost.
Daniel Radcliffe will play in “Women in Black”
Studio Hammer Films acquired a star of "Harry Potter" in its gothic thriller "Woman in Black" - which will be shot in 3D. Thus, Daniel Radcliffe continues to move away from the traditional image viewer wizard with the scar.
Novel by Susan Hill, which will be the basis for the film, was published in 1983. The protagonist, a young lawyer Arthur Kipps arrives in a small town on the east coast of England. Arthur must be present at the funeral of Alice Dreblou, an elderly widow, who lived in an abandoned and isolated from the people's house. At the funeral, Kipps sees a pale woman in black, which is surrounded by children. In the following days the paper examines the late lawyer, sees a ghost woman in a black, hears strange sounds and children's cries.
In 1989, the British attempted a television adaptation of Hill novel. Same film was nominated for 4 BAFTA awards.
The new version will remove director James Watkins. He made his debut in horror movie "Paradise Lake" in 2008. The script writer is Jane Goldman, author of a comic book adaptation "Kick Ass" and the novel "Stardust".
Daniel Radcliffe has already demonstrated the seriousness of his actors' intentions, playing in the performance "Equus" on London stage. The actor left two more times to appear in the image of a boy, who survived, then, as many Western critics, he will have to carefully choose projects, mindful of the sad fate of the actors in one role.
Radcliffe recently starred in the film adaptation of the Remarque's novel "All Quiet on the Western Frontâ€, but it is unclear when the actor returned to work.
Filming of "Women in Black", which will be the first interior of the film studio Hammer, will begin this fall.
TV series “Caprica”
Finally we have waited! Cautious talks about upcoming filming of the new series across BSG universe come true. Thank the gods! And now, we have a first season.
First of all, it should be noted that this series is positioned as "science fiction family saga. What does this mean? This means that there is no such great variety of shots as in BSG, no space ships and the action takes place mostly in a few locations. In general, as in the case of Bloody Mary, I mean a drink - more Mary, less blood. What absolutely does not spoil the impression!
So, why should you watch it, if there is a little action, a lot of talks, mysticism and religion based on the plot? And then, to find out about the Earth and its inhabitants.
Religion - the confrontation of polytheism and monotheism, the intervention of divine powers, mysticism - all this is, and as in BSG plays the role of non-ultimate.
From a technical point of view, all (or almost all) made rather good. The sequence without criticism, especially in the depiction of the virtual world called New Caprica - monochrome world, entourage 30-es, airships in all their glory. Need to watch!
Some may be confused with the discrepancy level of technology in "Caprica" and BSG, and yet the action "Caprica" takes place fifty years before BSG. But an attentive viewer remembers that after the first Cylon War, people covered technophobia abandoned many advances in science and technology, which dropped them many years ago.
The atmosphere of the series differs from the BSG, less dramatic, is not that gloomy, but we see there the other times, which are called the Golden Age of the 12 colonies, when the power of human reason has prevailed over all, when a person is creating an artificial life felt like a God, for which he pays as a result.
I can recommend this series to those who saw the BSG is not only space-shooter, and more, those who are not confined to just watching BSG, but looked and read a lot of additional films and materials on this universe, those who are interested in how it all began because what it was over, we already know.
The cast is picked up well, everything in its place, all of which cause - the emotion from positive to extremely negative. Characters are alive.
Music - Bear McCreery, and it says everything!
“Pushing Daisies” TV series
Confess, before I had not watched any other work of Brian Fuller, but after this series ("Pushing Daisies") I'll confidently watch his creations. I love these TV series - it's bright, fantastic, and breathtaking. So many colors just cannot be tedious. It fascinates. I can't even call this movie a series. This is a fairy tale!
And even the acting is fabulous. The actors themselves, as they are from a fairy tale. Their appearance creates a stunning contrast. Six-foot, shy and bashful baker Ned, with a difficult childhood behind him, is in love with childhood friend pretty Charlotte-Chuck, with an incredible thirst for adventure and zeal for life.
Olive- a waitress of "donut hole" restaurant. She is tiny, with a funny voice, full of charm, it is utterly in love with one whose heart is given to a girl named Chuck. And finally, the best detective in the Peyton district - Emerson Cod. Irritable, worshiping the dollar, for all his cynicism, he still attracts more than repels. The truth can't fail to mention about aunts Lily and Vivian, glamorous mermaids, undoubtedly contributing funny flavor into this tale.
A few words about the plot. For most of the series to lose interest after the first season, as the meaning is gradually slipping away, there is a lot of any delusional storylines, absolutely not related to the initial idea of the series. So, this is a "dead on demand" does not apply. Every word of honor, every series I watched almost with an opened mouth.
Moral. Maybe in this series there is no specific moral. But when we observe the whole thing, you could not help think how the roads you all your relatives, friends and mere acquaintances, as in fact simple, unpretentious, this terrible death. I think it is very close. One would think that with such thoughts far to depression, but no. They all save the bright colors that tell us about life and its value.
And finally the music. You can argue with me, but I'm sure that the music in any movie is almost the main role. And on this point is also a plus. A really huge plus. For such a TV series requires appropriate music. Just that I heard. I do not know where I could hear it, but the melody was very familiar, so comfortable, warm and fabulous.
I thing nobody can answer negative about this tale, no matter how much black humor was there. In this wonderful miracle it's simply impossible not to fall in love!
Everybody lies – Lie to me
To get the perfect series, like well popular today "Lie to me" you need to prepare excellent cocktail of different ingredients. To do this can only talented chefs - most importantly, never overdo.
First, there is selected a good team - two girls would be clever to magically get the necessary information. And what about the beautiful Buddy, speaking only the truth? (Can you imagine how nice will then see how his style of life that will crumble. And I'm sure he will!)
Secondly, it takes a complex plot. Each series - is a small full-length movie. And even though that guy from a religious family did not commit suicide, I was able to foresee, to predict who is really a killer in the beginning it was impossible!
Third, body language and psychology of people (especially when it comes to crime or gender relations) attracts a huge number of people of different ages. And the fact that you can study it in the form of a thrilling 60-minute movie, not sitting at the heavy dusty tomes, is a big plus!
And fourth, why the series is a valuable and beloved, is the last but not least, the ingredients of a cocktail - the main hero.
The point here is not cost an ordinary looking. Need a really terrific actor. To him alone in the frame have been enough. Whatever he did, whatever he says - you'll look at him without stopping. As he led his eyebrow, with some emotion to someone looked - simple words in his performance make you feel a storm of emotions!
Dr. Lightman is been studying people face micro emotions for 20 years. His style of work - watch, provoke, expose. He captures every emotion and easily determines a person is lying or telling the truth. Nevertheless, he is the chief liar in the series!
The series needs the actor from God. For House MD it was Hugh Laurie, for Lie to me (what a gentle name!) - Tim Roth. Tim is now a little older than Hugh (when he began filming in House), but it is not very important. Such men may bring to mind anyone else! This age for them - the apex of male beauty and sexual attractiveness. Magic eyes, perfect figure, and the speech! Women are just melting.
Pilot with you. I believe that would justify the continuation of those words that I said to the "Lie to me". My compliments, Tim!
Pacific theater from producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks
When, in 2001 Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks produced "Band of Brothers", it seemed that the theme of the Second World War on the small screen is closed forever: it was almost impossible to imagine that anyone will be able to beat the miniseries as the artistic and technical terms. After nine years, Spielberg and Hanks returned to the military theme, making even bigger spectacle.
Although the authors themselves, almost in every interview claimed that the "The Pacific" and "Band of Brothers" are rather different projects, both movies can't escape from numerous comparisons.
Broadly speaking, this series is something between "Saving Private Ryan" and "Thin red line". "The Pacific" contains and anti-war motives, and perfectly set battle scenes. What episode is only the landing marines on Peliliy or subsequent battle for Iwozima (although what else could be expected from Spielberg and Hanks?). Camera work is great. The last time this level of special effects has seen in the "38th parallel". Attention to detail is also worthy of respect. And the stories of veterans and documentary video before each series - another small plus. I'm glad almost complete absence of pathos and jingoistic patriotism. There are several strong scenes where the audience involuntarily begins to empathize with the Japanese. Jarhead did not build himself as a savior of the world, not philosophize about the higher things - they go to the bathroom, cursing, joking, trying to somehow brighten the soldiers' everyday lives.
To be honest, this mini-series is impressive.
First of all its dimensions: it's clear on what spent their money Spielberg and Hanks. Scenery, visual effects, costumes, etc. - all are very realistic. About the special effects in general stands alone to say - a head taller than any other series (see immediately that each frame in at least 2 times more processed than other projects). Also camera work is more "cine" than serial one.
I like the fact that each series leaves a strange feeling after watching. It feels like you are living most of the life with the Marines, who, incidentally, were very realistic. I guess the whole secret of the fact that the script was written on war veterans' memoirs.
What about actors play, so here are no complaints. All at great too! Of course, there are a couple of pompous purely American scenes, but it does not spoil the impression from the series as a whole, but only makes the drama and tragedy to the history of the three Marines. Love and sentimentality are just as much as needed for quality military drama, in order not to slide to the level of "Pearl Harbor".
The entire series - a solid contrast: a peaceful life in the United States alternates with bloody battles in the Pacific, beautiful scenery from the deck of a ship moving at beaches littered with mutilated bodies, jazz in the restaurant replaces the roar of exploding shells. That is, in my view, should look like an epic war canvas!
