Forest Whitaker producer of biographical movie about Richard Pryor
Nearly 20 years in the making is one of the most famous biographical movies of Hollywood - a film about the comedian Richard Pryor. Now the picture is taken by producer Forest Whitaker, and he has already secured the support of Pryor's widow, Jennifer Pryor.
Richard Pryor - American comedian, writer and broadcaster, who was known for his uncompromising and sometimes sharp humor. Pryor, did not hesitate and spoke about the problems of African Americans. Because of his talent, Richard was one of the leading comedians. Actor Jerry Seinfeld called him "Picasso of his profession."
Since 1963, Pryor began performing in New York clubs, shared with the musician Bob Dylan and budding comedian Woody Allen. Since 1970, Prior's career took a new turn - he was called to write scripts for television. He led one of the shows, the first season of "Saturday Night Live" and in 1977 on NBC started "Richard Pryor Show", unfortunately, closed after four episodes: TV viewers did not take Pryor’s jokes.
Since the mid of 1970s, Pryor began acting in films, mostly comedies. Best known painting "See No Evil, Hear No Evil", "Stir Crazy" and "Brewster's Millions". Pryor worked on the script for the comedy of Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles." He was to play a major role, but the studio refused to insure him, the actor is addicted to drugs and alcohol.
In 1980, Pryor was trying to drink rum and inhale cocaine, so that caught fire and was taken to hospital with burns on the body. Severely undermining health, Richard continued to maintain the reputation of a difficult actor, he was late to the shooting, foul the air and exhibited excessive requirements (e.g, to the site he was taken in a helicopter).
Health problems gradually discourage Prior to working in film: in the early 1990s, the actor was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. David Lynch's "Lost Highway" movie has became the latest for comedian. In 2004, Pryor lost his voice. December 10, 2005 the actor suffered a heart attack and died.
Last time rumors about biography of Pryor were in October 2010, when the role of comedian was going to play Marlon Wayans, and Bill Condon should be director. Time passed, the director signed up to work on two films "Twilight" and withdrew from the project on Pryor. Other known attempts - Martin Scorsese, who even before the actor's death in 2005, wanted to put a picture of him with Damon Wayans in the lead.
Now the story of Richard Pryor has back in the news reports. Forest Whitaker takes on the producer's function and will soon begin work on a new script. Who will play Pryor in this new project is not yet reported.
Wong Kar-Wai sands love message to martial arts
Elegy "Yi dai zong shi" of Wong Kar-Wai opened the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. The picture was a real long-term project of director - it took 6 years to design and three years to shoot. But the wait was worth it. Director and the main stars of the picture Zhang Ziyi and Tony Leung Chu Wai presented to journalists their new creation.
The last film of Wong Kar-Wai was released at the big screen in 2007, when "My Blueberry Nights" opened the Cannes Film Festival. On the French Riviera director appeared much more frequently than in the German capital. Among the projects of Kar Wai, were "Happy Together" (the prize for Best Director), "Mood for Love", "2046" and above English-language debut.
"Great Masters" (Yi dai zong shi) are considered the biographical film about Ip Man, the legendary practitioner of martial arts, a representative of the style of wine-chun, a teacher of Bruce Lee. But from the very first frame it's clear that before us is not familiar to all tape from the category of "born-learned-married." Tony Leung Chu Wai, the mascot of Kar-Wai, in a white hat and a long black coat in the pouring rain easily deal with crowds of "experts of Kung Fu."
The action begins in 1936, when Ip Man was already 40 years old. Before this age he did not work and did not need anything ("My parents were so rich and famous, that in the district Foshan was named a street after them"). He married the beautiful aristocrat, lover of music, often went to the "Golden Pavilion", the brothel for the rich ones of this world. But the place with golden walls was also a gathering place for the masters of Kung Fu. Foshan was the center of the southern Chinese martial arts during the Republic of China.
When, in 1936, Japan won the north-eastern provinces of China, the great master Baosen Ghosn, head of the martial arts world in the north, arrived in Foshan. In the "Golden Pavilion" should be held a ceremony in honor of the departure from the post of Gon. Old master fights with young fighters, the best of which is the Ip Man. Daughter of Gon ( Zhang Ziyi) also arrives in Foshan. She's the one who knows the deadly technique of 64 hands. This style will experience Ip Man, but the fight with the girl turns into an elegant and sensual dance. In the end, all the movies of Kar-Wai are about love.
This is only a two-hour tie of the movie, which in the first version of the assembly lasted four hours, but in China it was shown for 2 hours 13 minutes. To cut the ribbon for the international distribution Kar-Wai has decided recently.
The history of Ip Man interested Wong Kar-Wai in 1996. Kar-Wai decided that will tell a story of martial arts of 1911-1949 period, which was a difficult time for China. Director has plunged into research questions and talked with many of the masters of Kung Fu. "You know what surprised me? They are extremely simple and humble people. " This discovery helped the director to build the line and atmosphere of the film. The main thing in "Great masters" - not the biography of Ip Man, although, of course, it is a great place, and a sense of calm and concentration that is required for understanding of martial arts.
It is known that the shooting of the "Great Masters" interrupted for a long time due to financial problems, and because of serious injury of Tony Leung Chu Wai.
Director so enthusiastically talked about the project, that no one was left in doubt: Kar-wai was able to realize his dream. And what was the biggest challenge during the process? "I do not practice kung-fu" - said director.
Emily Blunt instead of Emma Watson
Emma Watson has refused two roles this week. The actress will not appear in "Cinderella", which is going to stage Kenneth Branagh, and dropped out of the drama, "Your voice in my head." If Branagh didn’t find a new contender for the vacant position yet, then the producers of "Your Voice" has chosen the lead role of Emily Blunt.
"Your voice in my head" - filming of memoirs of British journalist Emma Forrest. Living in New York, burdened by moral problems and risky antics, eventually turns to her severe depression and attempts of suicide. But Forest meets balding and fat, but the optimistic 53-year-old psychiatrist, whose advice helped her to withdraw from the dangerous brink. But soon the man dies. Some romantic relationships of Forest are also falling, but now she will have to deal with problems on her own.
Initially the film was going to shoot David Yates, but the director of the latest series of Harry Potter has left the project in May last year and is now occupied by the new version of "Tarzan." Emma Watson, approved for the lead role, was listed for a long time in the film, but, as reported by Stanley Tucci, who plays a psychiatrist in "Your voice" now in her place will be Emily Blunt. Tucci and Blunt have starred together in "The Devil Wears Prada”.
A film, based on the memoirs of Forest, is planned to shoot in the summer of the 2012, but work on the movie has stalled. Now the film has still no director, so it is difficult to say when will start shooting.
Emily Blunt is currently shooting in Doug Liman's sci-fi "All you need is kill" with Tom Cruise. The last time the actress has appeared on screen in the thriller "Looper" and comedy "The Five-Year Engagement."

Hugh Laurie in new pirate TV series
Dr. House is re-classified in pirates. Hugh Laurie is in talks with NBC channel about participation in the series “Crossbones”, where the actor offered the role of Edward Teach, known as Blackbeard - filibuster, handled in the Caribbean Sea in the 18th century.
