Welcome as always triumphs over evil
Well, we have seen the next great movie of this summer, which you can enjoy with friends, and children, and the whole family "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" with Nicolas Cage as starring.
By genre, "a young man who saves the world" (it has called, with some degree of conditionality, teen fiction), I had always been somewhat wary. As a rule, to watch it without the constant reminders to myself that it removed all the same for young people, it is impossible. But I am very glad that the "Sorcerer's apprentice" still belongs to the rare good representatives of the genre.
The plot of this "fairy tale" is quite simple: the world is in danger, and the only one who can prevent it - a simple boy, not popular with the fairer sex, but nevertheless, a very intelligent and, of course, courageous. It would seem that this is a film with a banal story about a superhero ... but no.
"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is different in that in the movie a lot of magic, magical transformations, in general, good magicians are struggling with evil. And to all this magic and romantic moments are added, action and special effects, and a lot of funny and amusing scenes. All this makes the film very interesting and exciting.
"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" parodies, it seems, all at the same time, what makes up today's New York City, including Chinatown, cops and taxis, but it is impossible to forget about the action and any magic - it's pretty. Incidentally, this is probably the first entertainment film in which the existence of magic is connected with the popular physics, and even on the same basis to make fun of.
The cast is very strong. Nicolas Cage simply unmatched in the role of magician Balthasar, which he really came up, in my opinion. The role of Monica Bellucci is rather short, but nonetheless catchy. There must be in a movie at least one beautiful woman who also knows how to play. Jay Barushel - an actor, I am not quite familiar with. But he played very well, and a replica of his character amused the audience. Yes, there is enough humor in this film, as well as good effects.
In general, in front of us - not only colorful, but also a charming fairy tale about good and evil, magic and physics (the arguments on this subject in the film unexpectedly witty), and the advantages of sharp-toed shoes in front of everybody else. You know how I liked the previous Bruckheimer producer's work ("Prince of Persia") "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is much more deserving of attention. In fact, it fits perfectly within the boundaries of the claimed genre, it does not cause embarrassment for having forced to love itself. On the contrary - a rare thing for Bruckheimer movies, phrases from the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" can be easily replicated, and with the technique he has always been the best.
USA premiers “Sorcerer’s Apprentice”
A New York schoolboy Dave behinds of excursion and gets into the mysterious shop, which manages a good magician and one of the few disciples of the Merlin - Balthazar (Nicolas Cage). Dave lets from the trap to the will of a long-standing opponent Baltasar Maxim Howarth (Alfred Molina). Following the bout, both the magician are incarcerated in a magical urn for ten years, and young Dave gets the impression, and not weak due to accidentally spilled on the pants of the liquid is in an awkward position to find himself near the same shop and searched his class. Ten years later, Dave (Jay Barushel) - antisocial neurotic and future physicist with the beginnings of genius. And then the familiar sorcerer's breaks free then positive Baltasar begins to teach Dave different magic tricks. Indeed, the past meeting was a non-random: the guy - a possible descendent of the Merlin, the only one able to destroy the evil sorceress Morgan.
A more traditional blockbuster fights with movie no less ambitious, but more original (Inception). And if the project has caused considerable interest Nolan before the release of its eccentricity, the movie of Terteltaub - this is almost a kind of tribute to the pack blockbusters of recent years. However, he does not look as depressing as it might seem. Critics initially reacted to the film is very irritating, but after the rigors, and ratings of the "Sorcerer's apprentice" went up and grown up to quite an acceptable level.
Jerry Bruckheimer, and a star of Terteltaub project Nicolas Cage did not work quite so carelessly. And their third joint after Novels "National Treasure" project has been quite a viable picture (to the same based on a very reputable source - the episode of the Disney "Fantasia" and encouraged him Goethe's poem) salvable largely thanks to its humor and great visual effects. "Sorcerer's apprentice" is not quite so giving childish and quite comfortable for an older audience, which, prospectively, the film also focuses.
Heroes are a joke regardless of the consequences (including concentrated Cage character, not to mention the horrific Alfred Molina). In the end, Bruckheimer and Cage comes up with another summer family blockbuster.
"Sorcerer's apprentice"- a product of a bad script, lifeless play-acting and predictable action-scenes. Besides Jay Barushel already played such a character twice this year"- Kevin McCarthy, BDK Reviews.
"Cage did not disappoint in the role of Balthazar. He is quite mad, so that the character does not become too predictable. It's a pity when such a pro, as his hero, gives so much screen time to his young protege"- Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post.
"It is quite bad, so it can be described as "quite good"- Eric Dee Snider, EricDSnider.com.
"The coolest trick of the sorcerer will be the disappearance of the audience"- Steve Biodrovski, Cinefantastique.
"Dynamic, funny, entertaining" - David M. Kimmel, New England Movies Weekly.
"On a hot summer's day family walk to the cinema could become just the usual holding time or its natural waste. That's "Sorcerer's apprentice" belongs to this category,"- Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine.

Animation movie “Titan: A.E.”
Being a child I dreamed of becoming an astronaut in the future, I think that many people dreamed about it, and when I saw the "Titan: A. E." I was in seventh heaven, by the fact that before this I did not see cartoons about space and space ships.
"Titan: A.E." - hand-drawn animation and computer graphics in some places, with the ideal complement each other. I liked colors, can be seen that the artists were trying not to repeat. The plot also not let us down, not annoying and you look at one breath.
In the distant future of humanity, deprived of the Earth, forced to settle on the outskirts of the universe and to endure the harassment from other intelligent races. The only thing that can save our descendants from the gradual extinction - "Titan", the space Noah's Ark, able to create re-create the Earth and all its inhabitants. The catch is that nobody knows the exact location of "Titan". No one, except Kayl, who has a map, and a whole pack of enemies trying to get to the Titan before earthlings.
"Titan" - a dynamic, well-cut story, charming characters and excellent musical accompaniment. And, of course, beautiful animation - and now, and many years later, the picture will become just as lively and colorful, for the classic is not affected by time. Of course, there is a positive protagonist, a little naive, but the bold and adventurous, there are villains, and no one (in fact on the Ark of the pair), but this cartoon, unlike many of its brethren, is not straightforward, and the spiral of intrigue, twisted in several exciting turns.
In this story a little of everything: love, universal values, the craving for adventure and noble deeds, loyalty and sacrifice. And in a sense, "Titan" - the eternal theme of the confrontation of children and fathers, where the role of the latter was not malicious Dredge, and Corso and above all they represent a real threat to Kayl and his team.
There is no popular now parodied moments, no stupid fun and farcical ease, concomitant modern Hollywood media animation. But there is an interesting story about the death of mankind and the search of the lost spaceship, which can save people there are living heroes, there are lyrical episodes, and finally there is a beautiful painted picture. A chase scene of ships among the ice meteorites is in general beyond praise, I even admired. In general, a worthy representative of drawn animation!
"Titan" does not pose any intimate knowledge and opens new horizons, but it's a snug, attractive cartoon, and watch it is for the sake of the beautiful hand-drawn pictures, especially the part that unfolds in the Andal ice ring, dark and surprisingly lovely at one time.
“Despicable Me” will have a sequel
The first pancake, released by a new animation studio Illumination Entertainment under the direction of Chris Meledandri, is far not lumpy. "Despicable Me" earned in the first rolling weekend 56 million dollars only at home, so do not be surprised: continuing adventures of villain Gru are already in development. Three years ago, Universal Studios bosses persuaded Chris Meledandri leave the post of President of 20th Century Fox Animation and set up his own studio to produce cartoons. Thus, under the wing of Universal has been Illumination Entertainment, through which the studio was able to snatch a piece of cake in a large market family films.
Writers of "Despicable Me" Cinco Paul and Ken Dauria are already working on a sequel. But not only will the history of Gru continue. Cute villain henchmen - Yellow giggling minions - will be the heroes of two separate short films.
In addition, the Illumination has a lot of other plans. 1 April 2011 the film "Hope" - where Russell Brand announced the Easter bunny. The cartoon will be a combination of feature films and animation. Then in the spring of 2012 will followed by a second screen adaptation of Dr. Syuss book "The Lorax". Illumination plans to introduce the world strange creatures by Ricky Jeyrveys took off on his cartoon book series Flanimals. The studio also involved in the development of the film "Where's Waldo?" and the animated version of "The Addams Family" by Tim Burton.
Illumination is going to increase the number of projects produced from one to two or three a year over the next few years.
Founder of Illumination Chris Meledandri accidentally got into the business of producing a family film. In his producer filmography can be found a number of feature films intended for adult audiences like "Swingers" with Christian Bale. The former head of Fox, Bill Mikenik nominated Meledandri to head of the animation studio, which resulted in the release of film "Titan: A.E." and "Anastasia." After Fox Animation has released "Ice Age", the name Meledandri finally became established in connection with a family cinema.
Trail of fire
July 3, 1985 was a special day for all lovers of cinema, action and adventure. In this day has been released a new movie then a little-known Robert Zemeckis "Back to the Future", in which the car-time machine DeLorean famously traveled back in time, leaving footprints on the pavement burning of tires.
The film was being in top for 12 weeks, and became the highest grossing film of 1985, received four nominations for an Oscar and the Oscar statuette for Best Sound Editing, but we love it not for this - but for the fact that during 25 years the fiery trail is not dying away in our memory.
"Back to the Future" is about a graduate Marty MacFlay, which on a time machine, created by an eccentric scientist Emmett Brown, comes from the 1985-th in 1955 year and prevents accidental meeting of his future parents. This movie and now still looks incredibly fun and is a favorite film of many spectators. By the silver jubilee of the picture let's go back to the past and remember the main points of interest associated with the creation of "Back to the Future", which became one of the major hits of 1980.
Script
Writer Bob Gale, was already friends and worked with Robert Zemeckis, thought out "Back to the Future" when visiting parents flipping through graduation photo album of his father. Gale thought: "What if they had been with his father the same age? Whether they would be friends?" - And decided that it was unlikely.
Robert Zemeckis with this idea first turned to the Disney studio - but there is some reason they were afraid that the story of a love interest of the mother to her son, even through the prism of moving in time, ruin the "family" reputation of the studio.
In contrast to the "Disney", Steven Spielberg and the studio "Universal" didn't afraid - and gave the green light to develop the script and shooting.
Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, who wrote the script, at first wanted to present a time machine like a laser installation or simply refrigerator. The idea with fridge raised fears that after the movie young spectators will get to the refrigerator in an attempt to go in the future or the past - and get stuck there.
Finally, Gale had the idea that the function of time machine can really do the car - and the third version of the script means of moving in time became well known to us car DeLorean, which has become a truly iconic after the film.
Shooting
The only one, Robert Zemeckis had seen in the role of Marty, was Michael J. Fox. But at the beginning of shooting Michael has become a TV star of series "Family Ties" and could not leave that shooting and participate in Zemeckis film.
Therefore, the role of Marty called actor Eric Stoltz - but he looked like too adult and not suited for the role of graduate-teenager in this movie. Three weeks later Zemeckis dismissed Stolz and turned to Michael again, begging him to play in "Back to the Future". And J. Fox agreed - on condition that work on the film will not hurt his shooting in the "Family Ties".
Thus began retake of the material made with Eric Stoltz: at day, Michael starred in the series, but at night - in Zemeckis film, and slept during the filming of "Back to the Future" for only a couple of hours per day.
Especially for the filming, Michael has learned to ride a skateboard - and not in vain he tried: everybody who has ever seen "Back to the Future" still remember how virtuously MacFlay drove on a skateboard to school and back, clinging to the passing cars.
Zemeckis and Gale didn't plan previously to shot "Back to the Future" fantasy trilogy. However, the huge success of the film immediately made everyone talk about the continuing - and in the film version, which appeared on the videotape, to the delight of fans before the credits appeared inscription "To Be Continued ...".
Everyone has been waiting for the second part of "Back to the Future" with a hot look. Neil Strauss quotes in his novel "The Game", based on actual events, a replica of his friend: "When I was in tenth grade, I wanted to kill myself because I did not know why I live. And then I heard that after 23 days will premiere "Back to the Future 2". I started a calendar and marked off each day before the premiere of the film. This was the reason, why was worth living. "
Trail of fire (continuation)
The movie "Back to the Future" was literally disassembled on quotes. You yourself, probably, facetiously responded to parents' request to make a quieter hard rock or grunge with Marty MacFlay words: "You are not ready for such music, but your kids will like it." And this is - "Holy saints" or "No! Nobody calls me chicken!"And so on.
When Ronald Reagan (the same actor who was elected president for a second term a year before the movie) first saw "Back to the Future" and was caught by Doc Brown phrase - "But how actor could become president?"- that he asked the projectionist to rewind and show him this time again.
Reagan's so impressed by Zemeckis film, that he even included a quote from the movie in his address to the American people in 1986. Speaking about the future of America, he said: "As stated in the movie "Back to the Future" - "where we go, we do not need roads."
The fate of filmmakers
Robert Zemeckis after the resounding success of "Back to the Future" has become a star of first magnitude. And then he gave us "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," two parts of "Back to the Future", masterpieces "Forrest Gump" and "Cast Away". In recent years, the director got carried away 3D-capture-motion technology, on the basis of which he created animated picture "Beowulf," "The Polar Express" and last year's "Christmas Story".
Bob Gale has written two more parts of the "Back to the Future", and then has written scenario to the wonderful movie "Interstate 60".
Michael J. Fox starred in the trilogy and after in Gale "Interstate 60" and Tim Burton "Mars Attacks!" And in recent years that have passed in the fight against serious disease, focused on the Series - "The Clinic," "Boston Legal" and so on.
Incredible Christopher Lloyd, who performed the role of the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, starred in more than 100 films and serials, but the trilogy "Back to the Future" is the high point of his acting career.
But for Billy Zane trilogy "Back to the Future" was a real springboard - he later played the main negative character in "Titanic" James Cameron and Cinematography remembered more as a teammate of Tom Beckett in the movie "Sniper" and the thriller "Dead Calm".
Lea Thompson, who played mother of Marty MacFlay, in fact, was older than Michael Jay Fox's only for ten days. She had to spend 3 hours in the dressing room in order to look like a 47-year-old "Mama" for filming episodes of "Back to the Future" in 1985 year. Like Lloyd, besides Zemeckis trilogy, the actress is no longer visible and distinguished by outstanding films.
Crispin Glover, Marty father (who in reality was younger then Jay Fox for three years) - after the "Back to the Future" "hiding" for a while, and then his career had a breakthrough and he stared in "Charlie's Angels", "Beowulf" and "Alice in Wonderland."
Unfortunately, after the end of the trilogy is practically not get into the cameras wonderful actor Thomas Wilson, who played one of the most prominent villain in the history of cinema - Beef Tennanah, as well as all his ancestors and descendants.
P.s. Two Bob - Zemeckis and Gale - back in 1985 brought us, that the results that we wish to achieve, and dreams that are going to perform, come true and become visible not at once, but for a long time ("Thirty years - beautiful round number ".)
Despicable Me
Few days ago I've watched new cartoon titled "Despicable Me". My thought is not bad! But let us see what thing journalists from Associated Press.
That is actually very pleasant to look at the picture, which belongs to a French animation studio, as well as the voices of the characters - the main of them are voiced by Steve Carell. It is interesting to follow the clumsy villain named Gro and marvel at the exquisitely cruel sense of humor. This, however, and end strengths of the film, because at the end he becomes like a mint candy - such as sticky and sweet and cloying. But the main shortcoming of 3D cartoon - is the lack of a good, intelligible plot, which becomes especially apparent if you compare it to, for example, "Toy Story 3" in particular and the production studio Pixar in general, where the story is paramount.
The film, however, begins promisingly enough. Directors serve Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, the writers - Ken Doriot and Cinco Paul (from a story by Sergio Pablos). The main villain, dense, slovenly, square traced uncle, with uncertain Eastern European accent and environmentally harmful car, contemplating a terrible - to steal the moon. That he needs to compete successfully with the Vector, another super villain (and how, all the villains in this movie!)
To steal device for reducing the moon to acceptable sizes belonging to Vector, Gro sends a trio of brave girls, to Vector home under the guise of merchant's cookies.
Naturally, the girls eventually melt the icy heart of the evil Gro, the more so that it gradually becomes clear that his villainy is a reaction to the vicious mother, who was heavily tilted against him in childhood.
In general, according cunning men of the AP, the movie is nothing special, just a cute little thing with obvious happy finale. They give it two and a half stars out of four possible, which is roughly equivalent to our foursome with minus five points.
Some thought about “The Last Airbender”
While the whole world waits on the premiere of "The Last Airbender", cunning Western journalists have already assembled film copy. And see - shared with the audience amazed opened the searing truth about the film. And the truth is that the movie "The Last Airbender" is full and dull shit.
Generally, as the reviews author notes, director M. Night Shyamalan since "The Sixth Sense" with frightening speed rolled over the slope. Rolled, of course, down. And if the "Signs" of 2002 were merely mixed, the current film is just a shame. It seems that not a single aspect, which would be presented in the film, is fine as it should be.
The movie plot tells us the standard fairy-tale fantasy, where wicked Fire Mages burn and kill everyone in a certain fictional magical world. In addition there are Water, Earth and Air mages. Specifically, the Air mage is only the one, because everyone else was killed again by Fire mages. And this last survivor is, of course, the main hero of the film - bald kid with a tattoo on his forehead by the name of Aang. Moreover, he is also a famous Avatar, elected and destined to defeat Agent Smith, and deliver in a Vault 13 water-chip. Oh, and of course, to destroy Kerghan.
From those presented in the film 3D effects American authors spit thick poisonous saliva. They were spare there and the picture quality due to conversion of 2D to 3D has suffered greatly. Actor's game, they also valuated as "best then wooden", which also doesn't add the sympathy to the film.
The action takes place in fits and starts incomprehensible and it's difficult to understand what's going on. Magic turbulences, realized in the film are boring and uninteresting. Mages of Water and Air are just gray and dull.
As a result, the authors give only one score of fives to this film. Watch it, thus, strongly not recommended. Add from myself: very interesting that just a couple of days ago, voiced the opinion of "The Last Airbender" producer, which is very lamented the fact that evil Cameron stole the original name of the movie as well as anime, which raised the aforesaid - "Avatar" - for its cheap crafts about blue humanoids with a USB connector in the tail. And here you are not very good review about the movie. Interesting coincidence".
Well, among other things should be noted: the appointment of certain directors of unsuitable films is always very costly for producers. Appointed Ang Lee on comics fiction in the form of "Hulk" at the result have received a slag. Appointed Hindu M. Night on the epic fantasy - got the same thing. There's still David Lynch to appoint for teen comedy shooting!
