Hollywood legend Warren Beatty decided to go to the movies again after a ten-year break. Last time on the big screen actor and director appeared in the film "Town and Country" by Peter Chelsom, which has failed miserably at the box office.
It is still unknown what the project will take Beattie. According to various sources is a long strip of them conceived by Howard Hughes, or an unnamed comedy. And in the last Beatty will be an actor, producer, screenwriter and director. General Director of Paramount Brad Grey said that "this scenario is just the quintessence of his style, he elegantly written and at the same time incredibly entertainer."
The film production will start later this year. In addition, star of "Bonnie and Clyde," recently spoke about the possibility of a sequel, "Dick Tracy", but, according to analysts, this option is unlikely.
Warren Beatty has worked in the 1950s on television, but the very first role in the movie "Splendor in the Grass" and "The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone," earned him great fame. In 1967, he starred in Arthur Penn landmark film "Bonnie and Clyde." In the 1970s he played leading American directors: Robert Altman ("McCabe and Mrs. Miller"), Alan J. Pakula ("Conspiracy 'Parallax"), Hal Ashby ("Shampoo").
In 1978, he published one of the biggest hits of his career - "Heaven Can Wait". Three years later he became the winner of "Oscar" for his drama "Reds." After less Beatty plays in the movie, trying very selectively apply to future projects. He has been involved in comics "Dick Tracy".
For this moment his last work as a director - the film "Bulvord."
After the release of Christopher Nolan's tape "Batman Begins", the genre of comic book adaptations greatly changed: the explicit emphasis in the direction of realism, the minimum tick marks on black and white and rather harsh methods of the protagonists in the fight against crime. Even in the flowering bright colors of "Iron Man".
Tony Stark is not a pathetic savior of the world, and so typical of narcissistic billionaire, who rescues people something more for his own glory, rather than a sense of duty. The film "Green Lantern" brings us back to a time when comic book adaptation was just children's stories, which from the outset made it clear: who is good in this story and who is bad.
U.S. Air Force pilot Hal Jordan on the will of fate (ring) is a member of the Green Lantern Corps - intergalactic detachment of soldiers who have enormous power to keep the peace and justice in the troubled galaxy. True, he enlisted a very bad time: an old enemy named Parallax Corps got out of prison, and sweep away every living thing in his path. Hal will have not only to fight against the powerful enemy, but also to prove to the other members of the detachment, that humanity, despite its very low standards for their age, is capable of much.
We are accustomed, in such blockbusters something special from the story part is not worth waiting, the main thing just to avoid irritating. Here, fortunately, the plot turned out quite sane. Yes, it is extremely straightforward and predictable, the story develops along the same lines as the "Spider-Man" in his time, only attribute in the main characters are different.
About action, perhaps it is worth mentioning separately. It is not so much pleased with the quality of graphics, how successful its application.
Reinforces the impression of action-packed scenes and a magnificent, very drive soundtrack. Each tune is very well fit into what is happening on the screen, and significantly complements the visual attributes of the film. Composer James Newton Howard certainly tried his best: some of the songs you want to listen to and out of the picture itself, so they are very catchy.
"Green Lantern" also has a good acting, which is undoubtedly a plus for the project in which the primary is just a visual component. Ryan Reynolds perfectly fits the image of the Defender of the Universe and wins back his character very well. Hal Jordan was very charismatic character, the adventures which is interesting to watch.
Peter Sarsgaard is also very good in the image looked unsatisfied with his life of a teacher, who suddenly had the chance to gain a powerful force. Blake Lively as a friend of the protagonist looked organic, but not more
Create a new branch of a very successful franchise "X-Men" is incredibly difficult. Not only because of huge budget and special effects satiety last part of the trilogy, leaving little room for maneuver. Not only because it starred the real titans, and even the supporting roles played by well known actors.
But because think of another distinct theme, based on a rather chaotic universe of comic book series "X-Men" - not an easy task. Director Matthew Vaughn was not afraid of these problems and directed the film, which is not inferior, and in some ways superior to its predecessors.
What is not inferior? First of all, this is the level of special effects, which, speaking of the franchise "X-Men" is very strange to call special. Films in this series are literally woven from them, and find a hole in this dense fabric is absolutely impossible.
Now about the story. It's not a secret that this movie is about familiarity of Eric Lensher and Charles Xavier - the future Magneto and Professor X - their friendship, which later developed into ... No, not in enmity, rather, in an irreconcilable bowing to each other.
By the way, there will be appropriate to retreat for lovers of history. Long before the picture was aware that its main action takes place against the backdrop of the Cuban Missile Crisis, brought the world to the brink of global nuclear war.
Young actors representing the "first grade", though not enough stars in the sky, but looks at the background of such titans as Kevin Bacon and Oliver Platt, rather gangbusters. The only weak link is the star of TV series "Mad Men" January Jones, who played Emma Frost. In her character are completely absent the soul and charisma. Although, perhaps, on the idea of the film, all of her role and should be limited to a few fashion shows and demonstrations of female accessories.
The film "X-Men: First Class" is a worthy continuation of the franchise and it could give a start of a new trilogy.
P.S. About the middle of the movie has a scene lasting a few seconds, which alone fully justifies the trip to the cinema. If at this moment in the hall you will not hear applause, it means that you have watched "X-Men: First Class" in the company of people who do not have the slightest idea about the Marvel universe.
Ryan Reynolds in an interview with the resource Collider talked about the project "Green Lantern", what he knew about the original comic book up to this point and how to prepare for the role of Hal Jordan.
- Have you already given many interviews about this project?
No, not really. We presented the project at the exhibition Comic-Con, but it's quite private event.
- You have already starred in comic books, but agree that at this time, your hero is very much attractive and energetic.
I guess you're right. Perhaps this is the first movie which was filmed for my nephews and niece watched from the earliest days. The first thing my nephew asked me when I came to visit him: "Do you give me a ring? and I answered him: "Forget it!" (laughs). Do not want to sound sentimental, but this interest inspires great confidence in what you're doing.
- When you were considering the offer of the studio, how much you talked about your role and what you know about comics?
I had an idea about it, but, in general terms. Like, there has lived an ordinary guy, whom died alien has bequeathed a ring that shoots a laser. That’s all. I was shocked to discover what an enormous universe is involved in "Green Lantern ". On the role, Hal Jordan held a casting, as usual. I am slightly familiar with the world of comics: played in "Blade 3: Trinity" and the entire four minutes was Deadpool, in " X-Men: Wolverine". Overall, I was not sure, whether I would fit the role of a superhero or not. I just wanted to work with Martin Campbell, because I really like "Casino Royale" and some of his other films. We have met three times. At first tried to persuade me in the end I've beg my role. Then I was taken to the costume designers, and I saw all of their models, concept art, costumes, and was stunned. So it all started.
- Can you tell a bit about your character, Hal Jordan? He is an example of the classical hero. He is fearless and very confident. How to ensure that he looks like a hero, fearless, and at the same time does not ...
We had no goal of making him a fearless hero. ... Hal Jordan is the reason the ring has chosen him, that he is able to conquer fear. He was confused and did not understand why the choice fell on him. And he's afraid to admit that he is afraid of.... His struggle to overcome this fear continues throughout the film. He is looking for a fulcrum and tries to find the ability to defeat his fear. Precisely because of this he becomes the greatest of the green lights, because courage - this is madness. Courage - an amazing thing: it is noble, that they want to have all the advantage. In general, this virtue he tries to find within himself. In short, he's one of those guys who try to be fearless, but when we know him better, understand that he chose precisely the wrong way.
- What are your favorite books and movies in the genre of science fiction?
Uh ... number one – "Back to the Future." Next "Star Wars", the first three parts. What else? I like "Total Recall." Well, I do not know ... as a child I loved "Robocop." It seemed my super-duper movie. That is all at once come to my mind.
- Deadpool, Green Lantern, and now they say that you are going to participate in the project RIPD Why are comics more attractive for you than traditional movies?
I think they are attractive from the standpoint that now, with the development of new technologies and take them down has become much easier and they look spectacular as ever. "Green Lantern", for example, can’t be removed two years ago. As for the draft RIPD, I first read the script, and only then learned that it is comic. Not even a comic, graphic novel. In general, the script I really liked. I do not think that I deliberately chose a genre in which I decide to act.
With the decline of the franchise "Shrek," which brought full-length animation to a whole new level, the film studio DreamWorks Animation has just obliged to find it an adequate replacement. Otherwise, its leading position in this segment of the film industry very soon would be put under doubt. With the release of the animated film "Kung Fu Panda" there was hope that a new successful combination of flawless animation and utterly devoid of humor, vulgarity was found. The second part cartoon confirmed: in front of us the franchise, managed to raise the banner of DreamWorks even higher.
It is difficult to describe all the advantages of "Kung Fu Panda 2", while not being desperate spoilers. The animation of the highest class is so closely intertwined with a brilliant script that dissect these two ingredients that distinguish the animated masterpiece of mediocrity, separately is quite impossible.
In the case of a panda named Poe we are dealing with this hurricane action, organic and sometimes quite suddenly passing in touching the staging, which in turn disrupted really funny jokes.
In any other animated movie so much pathos not diluted so successfully, as in "Kung Fu Panda 2."
Characters of the cartoon have been deepened. Almost all the main characters appear "past" in some of these mysteries, and some, like the praying mantis, even bored for her second half, which in the heat of passion tradition bites the male's head. Even minor villains magicians from DreamWorks Animation able to give stories and experiences that led them from the category of expenditure weight and forced some to empathize them.
As for the notorious stereoscopy, it is absolutely flawless, and justifies all the possible extra charges on tickets. "Kung Fu Panda 2" - is that rare project that is absolutely no room detractors stereoscopic revolution in the cinema once again contemptuously wrinkling his nose. What was lacking in "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" - depth of the projection, the competent work of the "camera" during filming of battle scenes and demonstrate the scale of what is happening - it's all there in the continuation of the history of Poe and his associates.
In short, "pandamania", which began in 2008, took more animated space in the current year, and threatens us all the inevitable sequel. In any case, it is clearly hinted at the last shots of "Kung Fu Panda 2."
1). Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal will play a role in the mystical thriller of Eric Howell "Voice From the Stone". Tape is based on the cult novel by the Italian Silvio Raffo. Vampires’ roles in it will play Tilda Swinton, Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska. Another role will get John Hurt. To produce the project will be Jeremy Thomas, Reinhard Bryundig, Peter Watson and Stacy E. Smith.

"I thought about this project for years, can’t wait to do it with such wonderful colleagues," - says Jarmusch about future film. Tape will start shooting in early 2012 and will be held in Germany, Morocco and Detroit.
Previous work of outstanding director was a film "The Limits of Control" three years ago. Major role in it played Isaac De Bankole. Painting has not gained much success either in public or at festivals.
1). Screenwriter Andrew Niccol still assigned to the post of director's film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's book "The Guest" with Saoirse Ronan. Cinematographer is the author of the text of the future adaptation, but until now has not been officially confirmed as the director pattern.
"Guest" - a love story that unfolds in the near future. The Earth is forced to endure the invasion of alien parasites who call themselves "souls" and absorbing human consciousness. "Soul" of dying Melanie Stryder helps her to find the last survivors who are free from alien invaders.
It is noteworthy that Stephenie Meyer herself is a big fan of Niccol's debut picture "Gattaca," also tells about the world of the future. Doubts about the participation in the project as a writer director explained that Niccol is focused on debugging his brainchild "Now." But now the film is under post production, and the author of "Gattaca" unable to allocate time for adaptation of Meyer. Before the first candidate for the same position was the author of a sequel, "Nanny McPhee" Suzanne White.
2). Actors Tim Robbins and Mark Ruffalo will play in the movie "Thanks For Sharing". The project will be the directorial debut of screenwriter film "Kids are all right" Stuart Blumberg. He is also responsible for the lyrics for the movie with Matt Winston.
History, the place of action which is New York, built around characters, passing 12-step program of deliverance from sexual addiction. Between the main characters is knotted ties of friendship, and together they help each other overcome the temptation.
Production took the authors of "Kids are all right" Gary Gilbert and Jordan Horowitz.
In addition to producing them are connected William Migliore, David Coplan, and actor Edward Norton. It is assumed that the picture will begin shooting in autumn, when Ruffalo freed from working in "Avengers" where he plays Bruce Benner.
It is noteworthy that it was "Kids are all right" which made a big breakthrough for the actor: the film became a hit, but Ruffalo for his role was nominated for an Oscar. Among the latest tapes with Tim Robbins are also present comics - "Green Lantern".
Film about the babbling mercenary with disfigured face has finally found the director. "Deadpool" will be filmed by Tim Miller, who previously worked on special effects in "X-Men." The script written by the authors of the black comedy "Zombieland" Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Mercenary Wade Wilson first appeared on screen in the image of Ryan Reynolds in the movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". The image of the cynical humorist has long been fond of comics’ fans, but Deadpool is differed from the usual hero in the movie.
Reynolds promised to shoot a spin-off under his control, which resulted in a scenario with a hard-rating R. Hopefully, the studio will keep the intention not to make children's movies, which "Deadpool" can’t be.
Last summer, Fox asked the comics adaptation of Robert Rodriguez. Director has tried to harmonize his schedules for a long time, but in October, dropped out of the project. Insiders attributed to the project Swedish clipmaker Adam Berg. But he could not resist in director's chair.
Now it will take Tim Miller, owner of Blur Studio, where he set a number of mind-blowing clips to video games.
Here are examples of the Blur Studio:
It remains to add that Blur Studio is currently engaged in visualization of "Dark Tower" by Ron Howard. In addition, the studio plans to work on animated project "Heavy Metal", in which will participate several directors: James Cameron, Zack Snyder and David Fincher.
Michael Shannon has been nominated on Oscar. The actor will play a megalomaniac banished from the planet Krypton, where was born Man of Steel. In the movie "Superman 2" it was a role of Terence Stamp.
Zack Snyder himself on his villain says: "Zod is not only one of the most prominent enemy of Superman, but also one of the most significant, because he knows about him a lot of, that many do not know." Which version of General Zod will see the audience has not been disclosed, but according to some comics, he was even Russian.
"Michael - a strong actor who can show both the mind and madness of the hero, so he is ideally suited to this role," - says the director about his choice. Shannon is not the first time play maniacs. In fact, he has become known worldwide for his role as wacky neighbor of characters Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in "Revolutionary Road." The actor starred in two films from Werner Herzog, playing the charismatic impresario of Runaways in the eponymous film, last year shone in the comics "Jon Hex" and the thriller "13". Fans of the series "The Boardwalk Empire" might remember his uncompromising federal agent Nelson Van Alden.
Thus, the cast of Zack Snyder film looks very promising. Henry Cavill is preparing for the role of Superman, his adoptive parents will play Diane Lane and Kevin Costner, Amy Adams will be a friend, and villain - one of the most talented contemporary actors.
According to recent figures, the film will be called "Man of Steel" - no "Superman" and twos.
At the last convention of WonderCon in San Francisco, Ryan Reynolds, presenting excerpts from "Green Lantern" and noted that after the shooting in "Deadpool" will no longer add to his resume the role of superheroes.
"I think I have exhausted my limit," - said the actor. Responding to the sensitive question, whom from superheroes he likes more - Green Lantern or Deadpool, Reynolds tried to dodge: "I like Green Lantern more because he is like nothing else captures your imagination. I do not want to talk about "Deadpool" - there is still much not known. But if we would get to shoot this film, we will do everything bests".
Speaking of chatty mercenaries. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner, in his conversation with the magazine "Empire" has informed that "Deadpool" will differ from the version of the character, which can be seen in "Wolverine." "This is a complete reboot, - says producer. -The movie will be insane, but definitely a comedy. The script will be in rating R, it is very arrogant and cruel". Donner said that Ryan Reynolds is largely involved in the project, and even working on the script.
Meanwhile, rumors about the possible involvement of David Slade's directorial project have not been confirmed. Who exactly will shoot "Deadpool" is still not known. According to rumors, the studio is looking for a comedy director.
But back to the other superhero played by Reynolds. Producer of "Green Lantern" Donald De Line says the film is still being in process. "We have to finish the half-frames with special effects - said De Line. - Because we work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week". In total, the "lantern" has 1500 shots (digital scene) with computer special effects - it's quite a lot, but not a limit for the blockbuster.
A film by Martin Campbell will be released in theaters in June 16. The new trailer will be available in late April, but the material from WonderCon you can see right now.
