Controversial past and an uncertain future of Fringe
Fringe - series with the controversial fate, both rated and creative. Starting with a great name in producing and concept of "a la The X-Files", it riveted the attention of audiences and critics, avid to qualitative sci-fi, which, with rare exceptions, experienced a crisis on their television screens since the beginning of the two thousandth.
The pilot did not disappoint the expectations of Fox, seizing on the new series from JJ Abrams, and collected a decent rating, but that audience expectations were too high: Fringe turned out not more than the relatively expensive fantastic procedural, which appears to have promised to commit particularly outstanding, and somehow too intrusive emphasized spiritual relationship with its iconic predecessor. Another thing is that comparisons with The X-Files, did not comply with: the local main characters Olivia and Peter clearly losing Mulder and Scully as the charisma and chemistry, which was conceived to be sparked between the characters. For a long time the only actor attraction of the show remained John Noble, brilliantly performed the role of mad scientist Walter Bishop.
But the most painful step, which creators have set themselves, would be an undoubted advantage, if Fringe wouldn’t be basically procedural. Through-out the plot in such a thoughtful and exciting, that any retreat from it, any series of vertical-investigation (which, moreover, seemed to be constructed in one and the same pattern), met with irritation rather than interest. This situation has persisted for a half seasons, and seemed, Fringe and will remain in the history of television a lacking sci-fi, representing value only for the fans, diligently are found hidden in each batch of observer or unraveling the encrypted message (to the fans of the series generally feeds a special affection and always be their occupation). But in the second half of the second season, everything has changed.
Whether the creators finally spotted plot and cast potential of their project, whether it was all part of some diabolical plan, but after a winter hiatus 2009-2010 series flourished and threw out all its unrealized potential. In mythology, there was a tremendous jump in (the same was with Lost) and Noble had to share the pedestal of fame with the actress Ann Torv which has greatly transformed before our eyes. This change has benefited including actors: obeying the script, they had to play not only their characters but their doubles, and characters pretending to be twins - a serious challenge, requiring the use of acting talent to the limit and show viewers how well it was chosen the cast.
In addition, the writers have managed to register a horizontal plot line so that it is not for one second left on the screen of the events unfolding in the most independent episodes. Narrative began to line up, if not a fundamentally new way, then certainly with much more dynamics and meaningfulness.
Suddenly, Fringe has become one of the best dramas on terrestrial television, but with this began desperately to lose popularity.
From series to series, it became more and more interesting, but the ratings dropped lower and lower. Perhaps the viewer's patience is exhausted at the most inopportune moment, but it is likely and that those viewers who watched and loved the Fringe, watched and loved it as an heir to "The X-Files" to their permanent tantalizing suspense, and the fierce narrative jumps that happened later, is simply scared away.

What’s new?
1). The studio agreed with Terry Rossio for composing the script for the fifth part of "Pirates of the Caribbean". This is the first series, which Rossio will write without his constant companion Ted Elliott. Johnny Depp has expressed a desire to act in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow for further.
Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott were among the 20 screenwriters of cartoon film "Aladdin", but their first collaborative effort was the film "Little Monsters". Also men were noticed in title of the guys who invented "Shrek", but then burst out "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and since then the duo has given four scenarios of Jack Sparrow and company. Rossio and Elliott are also responsible for a deductible of Zorro. The reason the duo splits, is unknown.
It seems that the Disney bosses were pleased with the work of Rob Marshall, as once again want to see him in the director's chair.
The main culprit pirate celebration Johnny Depp in a conversation with Entertainment Weekly has admitted that he was ready to act in the role of Jack Sparrow and beyond. However, the actor has not signed a contract for the fifth movie.
The fourth series of "Pirates of the Caribbean" will be released in theaters this May.
2). Comic show "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) gave cinema a lot of comedians. Two of them - Adam Sandler and Andy Semberg - will be removed in the film "I hate you, Dad" by studio Columbia.
The protagonist arrives at the wedding of his son and at first glance dislike to the bride. Adam Sandler will play the father, while Andy Semberg will act in the role of the son. It is noteworthy that the age difference between the actors is only 12 years old.
Comedy has been under development, so the director has not yet been appointed. The script is written by David Caspe, which account for the series "Happy Endings". Then his work used David Wain and Ken Marino in a script "Butterfly Effect: Revelation."
Adam Sandler joined SNL in 1990. At first, he wrote a joke, but a year later became one of the leading actors, held in the program for five years. Andy Semberg in 2007 tried his hand at a big movie, playing in the comedy "Hot Rod". Tape is not liked nor critics nor the audience, so now, Semberg has a chance to rehabilitate. The actor has a band The Lonely Island, regularly taking part in SNL.

Adam Sandler in this year can be seen in the comedy "Just Go with it".
Possible RED sequel
Studio Summit hired Erich and Jon Hober to compose a sequel to the comedy thriller "RED". The original film is based on the Warren Ellis comic book came out last year and has earned a worldwide box office of over 160 million dollars.
Budget of "RED" was 58 million - for Hollywood, if it is not a penny, then quite a modest sum. Despite the fact that the picture of Robert Schwentke didn’t bring to the creators of several hundred million, it still paid off, and even received a nomination for the prize "Golden Globe".
Hober brothers had a hand in composing the script for the game "Battleship", filmed by Peter Berg. They also wrote the first "RED" and the thriller "Man on the Edge", which starred Sam Worthington.
It is too early to say where directions will lead their spies in retirement, as well as about who will agree to return. Since the success of the film were impenetrable, Bruce Willis, frightened Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren with a machine gun, John Malkovich, with a pink pig, Brian Cox with a Russian accent and sarcastic Morgan Freeman. With the latter will be more difficult.
New season on CBS channel
Finally we got to the CBS panel, which, according to journalists, was the most boring. After all the channel is good, it leads in total viewers and all the new series of the channels have been extended for a full season.
The very first question to the president of the channel Nina Tassler was a question about Charlie Sheen, who arranged another drunken brawl in the company of supermodels and porn stars. "What an unexpected question - joked Tassler, - But seriously, we're all very concerned. And how else? As people and his friends we are concerned because he has a family and children. But on the other hand, Charlie is professional. He comes to work (which is not always true - since the last adventures of Charlie he was not on scene). He does his job well, and his series - a hit. He knows that we are worried for him".
Hawaii Five-0. Tassler said that by the end of the first season in the series will add a female character. For a time, until we met with the forces for the transfer of this material, there was news that the cast of Hawaii Five-0 was supplemented with actress Larisa Oleynik. Oleynik will play a former CIA analyst Jessica Kay. For the first time the character appears on our screens in March.
"Idol" on Thursdays. Tassler acknowledged that the move of "American Idol" on Thursday is a threat to CBS. But Nina Tassler also correctly predicted the stability rating of The Big Bang Theory. "Theory" has very loyal audience, besides, I'm sure, viewers will be enough for everyone – and for "Idol" and for our comedies."
Blue Bloods. Tassler said that the channel is very pleased with those ratings, which are Blue Bloods collected on Fridays, so management decided to give a chance for TV series on Wednesday.
Bleep My Dad Says. Tassler acknowledged that in the creative plan this serial has a lot of work. "Any TV series in the first year of life have a lot to fix." In her opinion, the series has already made some important steps toward increasing the quality. In particular, a significant step forward would be an arch with Jean
Smart. The fate of the series will be decided in May.
NCIS. Tassler immediately brushed off all the speculation about the extension of the contract with Mark Harmon, which expires this season. "We are confident that Mark will remain in the series. He is satisfied with everything and we are glad to have him. But negotiations over the renewal of the contract - it's a natural process for our business".
Flashpoint and The Bridge. Canadian police drama Flashpoint returns this summer to broadcast of CBS. The channel has 6 episodes in reserve. But Canada's The Bridge will not order more on CBS. This decision of CBS has led to the closure of The Bridge in Canada, as a few days after the panel announced the Canadian channel CTV. Therefore, the previously announced second season of The Bridge will not be released.
Pilots. Despite the fact that the program list of the channel lineup of competitors nervously biting their elbows, CBS will order as many pilots this year, as in the past. Although there are no holes in our schedule, those new series that we will order, receive different timeslots.
One more starry movie before New Year
After removing a film about the Valentine's Day, the director of "Beauty" Garry Marshall collects another stellar ensemble. The new project is called "New Year's Eve" and also tells about the fate of several people. Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel have already given their consent, and this week they are joined by a German Thiel Schweiger, rocker Jon Bon Jovi and comedian Seth Meyers from SNL.
In addition to the aforementioned stars, in the film will be engaged Marshall Abigail Breslin, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara.
It's about New Yorkers whose lives intertwine on the eve of New Year. Bon Jovi got the role of a successful rock star. His hero once has broken with the girlfriend (Halle Berry) and confronted her at a party.
Seth Meyers will play the husband of Jessica Biel. He has serious financial problems and to solve them, he all ways tries to get 25 000 dollars promised by the first baby, born in the new year. Since the birth depends still from his wife, the hero will have difficult.
Robert De Niro will play a dying old man in the hospital, Michelle Pfeiffer - secretary, deciding to implement promised herself data. Hilary Swank won the role of producer of the famous New Year's show in Times Square, and the hero Ashton Kutcher generally hate this holiday.
What is the role went to Thiel Schweiger is not yet known. The actor recently finished filming the comedy thriller "This means war."

Interview with James McAvoy
James McAvoy, whose voice speaks Gnomeo in the comedy "Gnomeo and Juliet", in an interview talked about how is it to be a hero in the animated cartoon and a mutant endowed with the superpower in the prequel "X-Men: First Class".
- How did you get to "Gnomeo and Juliet"?
The usual way: they called me and invited to the meeting. Perhaps there were the most obsessed with their project creators - producer and director - which I had just met. They were so in love with their creation, so wanted to share with all the joy that it was impossible not to "catch" their emotions. When they showed me a small model of a garden gnome, which I was supposed to play, I thought: "Well, if I have to become a gnome, I want to look that way" because he was funny, stocky and very steep. I was surprised by his kind of robust fellow, because in the cartoons usually dominant undernourished and clever characters. But despite this, he could easily make back flip and other such things and still look like a little bodybuilder, and it was very funny. I thought he looked like a guy from Wrestling Federation, but not tall.
- How have you been looking for a voice for Gnomeo?
It was a constant battle during the first two or three sessions, because before I’ve never voiced animated characters and still could not decide on the voice. And the fact that you're working alone, not paired with another actor, too knocked me out of the rut. All the time I asked: "Maybe we will invite all the same Emily (Blunt) as well? We would have exchanged her sentences?" I know she is in London, "to which I replied:" Sure, of course, we will try. But this, in general something does not happen on such projects. Throughout our lives we do not recall that the two actors voicing their characters, being in the studio at the same time. They were right - for the three years I have never met Emily face to face. In short, you realize that at first it was very difficult for me.
- Given the fact that the plot of Shakespeare's play has been retold repeatedly for a long time, do you think it's time to freshen up the story with gnomes, adapting it in this way for a young audience?
Yes, I think. This play is not easy to retell the little children, because it is a place of death, suicide, sexual relations. But the story of two lovers, who can’t fall in love with each other, is always a good basis for work, no matter what is it: "Romeo and Juliet" or "West Side Story". Therefore tell it with the help of garden gnomes - a good way to explain children how bad prejudices and biases, and that it is important to give people a chance. After all, this is - morality of the work itself.
- Is it good to know that you have become a part of the Disney world and that people over many generations will be watching this cartoon with your participation?
Of course. We all grew up on Disney cartoons. Now it's animated films. But it was cartoons in my childhood taught me to love the movie so later. So, yeah, I'm glad that now I'm a part of it all. When you see the smiling children, understand that this is the coolest thing in the world. Therefore I’ve acted in "The Chronicles of Narnia".
- What can you say about your participation in the project "X-Men: First class," do you like it? The film will be released on 3 June 2011.
I hardly ever acted in such a large project in such a short period of time. It was crazy, really. But we have done this. There is no such movie, which would be enough time. And it's not a question of money. You'll never fit in time. Always have problems and you fight with them until the end of filming. Therefore, this project was no exception from the rule. Now worry about whether they will have time to prepare it for release in the stated period. Now we are editing and designing special effects. This deals with a lot of people 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- What was the hardest in the work on the role of such a popular character?
The most difficult, perhaps, was the fact that they possess superpowers, I only could to put my finger to the forehead, while all the other mutants were galloping along the walls, throw shits rays of light and forced to fly all around. All their exercises made me just sigh. On the other hand, I was less involved with the CGI-imagery and tricks, so I could afford myself to lie in bed longer. That's it. I looked at my other colleagues who use their abilities, and thought: "It must be fun!"
- What was the coolest in the project?
The coolest for me was our team. We have had a fun time together. I really enjoyed working with Michael Fassbender, he is super. Generally, all the guys were terrific. Kevin Bacon as a villain is simply delicious. I do not think anyone expected so well work together. Hopefully, this will affect the film in the most positive way.
