- Darren, tell us about your first meeting with Natalie 10 years ago, during which you first talked to her this movie.
Darren Aronofsky: I've been a fan of Natalie since I saw her in "Leon". Luc Besson - one of my favorite directors. It turned out that the manager of Natalie is my old friend from college, so meeting with her I got in through connections. In general, we met up, drank a cup of disgusting coffee, and I shared with Natalie ideas relating to the film. She said then that the entire movie is filmed in my mind that it was an absolute lie.
Natalie Portman: No, it was not: what he described to me then, very similar to our "Black Swan."
- Natalie, why did you want to get this role?
Portman: Up to 12 years, I studied ballet and, like most girls, idealized it, and felt the most beautiful art form. Expression without words. I've always wanted to do a film with a similar theme, and when Darren shared with me his incredible idea that concerns not only the world of ballet, but also implied the establishment of such complex and interesting way - or two images - it was just a rare chance, especially with such director as Darren, for whom I agree on that whatever.
- Darren, did you have any difficulty in presenting this story with a female point of view, as opposed to "Wrestler," which was entirely male?
Aronofsky: I do not think there's a big difference. I'm not making a serious problem of this. It does not matter whether this is an aging wrestler over fifty at sunset of his career, or an ambitious twenty-with-something-year-old ballerina. If they are truthful and show their true face, the audience will perceive and believe them. The cinema has always promised it. Therefore, we can go to a movie about a seven-year girl from Iran or the immortal Superman of America. Until then, while the characters do not lie, who they are - it does not matter.
- Natalie, how did you prepare for the role?
Portman: It was a great test, and, fortunately, close people have given me tremendous support. All teachers and coaches, choreographers and director, first of all, helped me to overcome this way. I started training for a year before filming, and my teacher started with the basics. First six months we trained two hours a day, so I became stronger physically and more confident in my movements. The next six months we were engaged for five hours a day. In parallel, we have added a swimming and I swam for a mile a day. Two months later, we added choreography, and weight training has increased to eight hours.
Physical discipline was very helpful in shaping the image of my character, emotionally, because such a monastic way of life is inherent in the dancers. You do not drink alcohol, do not hang down with your friends, do not actually eat, your body is constantly exposed to the incredible pain. All this helps to understand all the anguish, on which dancers doom themselves.
- What did you eat primarily at the end of filming?
Portman: Pasta. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ate all the time.
Aronofsky: This movie was very difficult to film. It was not enough money, and we'll stop shooting repeatedly. I'm not really worried about this, because it meant that I have received an additional two to three weeks for something to make ends meet. Only recently I learned that Natalie screamed at her manager because of what she had to live on carrots and almonds three extra weeks. She is the one, who suffered from constant malnutrition.
- Darren, how do you think what will be the reaction of the representatives of this art for your movie?
Aronofsky: I think many dancers felt great relief at the thought that finally it was shot the film in which the ballet is shown as a serious art rather than as a backdrop for a love affairs. If you try to look at such famous ballets like "Sleeping Beauty" and "Romeo and Juliet," "Swan Lake" it will be understood that those works are rather dark and gothic. This movie could be called "Swan Lake". We were founded upon a fairy-tale story and ballet, and moved all the characters in our film, which takes place today.
It turned out that we just moved the "Swan Lake" with a modern twist. From our film, we get a complete picture of how is it difficult the life of ballerina, but I think we just show the beauty and grandeur of this art. Of course, there will be people who don’t like something in the picture, however, most of the dancers with whom I have met and discussed our film, said: "Finally we have a real movie about ballet."
“47 Ronin” will be filmed in 3D

American version of the film script was written by Chris Morgan, who worked on the texts to action games "Wanted" and fourth "Fast and the Furious." The new "47 Ronin" will likely become stylized, rather than meticulous transmission of real events, and will include elements of fantasy a la "Lord of the Rings" and the alternate bloody battle scenes in the spirit of "Gladiator" and "300."

In the Metro City there is an eternal struggle in classic scenario: a cute genius Evil against blunt fistic Good. Studio Dreamworks Animation has created a new animated blockbuster "Megamind" - about feelings that we are moved by.
Charming Megamind is more like a hooligan Tony Stark in "Iron Man" than the real evil - he is a genius, has a weakness for beautiful young ladies and not a fool to have fun. And he demolishes the building is not out of malice, but purely out of boredom.

Joe Carnahan has long tried to remove the epic about the drug lords Pablo Escobar, and now busy on the project The Grey, where Liam Neeson should play an oilman, who has to save the passenger plane that crashed in Alaska.
