Three years after "Die Hard 4.0" director Len Wiseman returns to a great movie. He ended talks with Columbia studio about setting fiction thriller remake of "Total Recall", in the original which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Produced by Neal H. Moritz agreed to launch the project in February last year. Already in the summer was hired screenwriter project - Kurt Wimmer, director of "Equilibrium", who wrote, among other things the script to the action "Salt".
"Total Recall" by Paul Verhoeven was released in 1990. The film was shot on a story by Philip K. Dick "We'll remember you everything". Bought at the Rekall Inc. company implanted memories, the main character can't understand who he really is - womanizer or a secret agent who owns all martial arts. To remember all, the hero is sent to Mars, which he so often sees in dreams.
Verhoeven investigated one of Dick's favorite themes - the reality against illusion. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger's character, the audience did not immediately understand what truth is and what fiction is. However, this did not prevent the film to earn very real money - 261 million dollars in worldwide box office. Adjusted for inflation, this amount today would have exceeded 400 million.
While we do not know in which direction Wimmer will lead the story. Of course, screenwriter modernizes it, but will stick to the story by Dick, is not disclosed.
The producers chose Wiseman for the love of the genre and the ability to shoot action. If the director of the "Underworld" completely agree, it is unlikely to please the studio Fox, which matures plan fifth "Die Hard". Recently, Bruce Willis confirmed that appeared to be the next series of the franchise under the leadership of Wiseman.

And whom of superheroes or supervillains Marvel would like to see on the screen?
Slowly but surely Tom Tykwer makes his way through the thickness of the novel by David Mitchell's "Cloud Atlas". Director traveled to Los Angeles, where he met with the actors, having agreed to star in his monumental project. Among them - Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman, James McAvoy, and Halle Berry.
The above-mentioned stars, according to the Playlist, already assigned to the project. The question mark only participation of Ian McKellen. However, we can already say that "Cloud Atlas" will be one of the most anticipated projects.
The book "Atlas", included in the shortlist for the Booker Prize, is the tangled stories of several characters. In the mid-nineteenth century, a lawyer returns to the U.S. from Australia, a young composer, who had to sell his soul and body in Europe between the world wars.
The journalist in California in 70th reveals a corporate conspiracy. Small publisher, our contemporaries, managed to break the bank on the gangster autobiography and running from creditors. Re-servants working in the fast-food company in Korea, a country of the winning cyberpunk. Also among the heroes there is Hawaiian goatherd on a sunset of civilization.
So far, Tykwer brings the final touches on his melodrama "Three", which will premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Before working on "Cloud Atlas" there is more decent time. The actors will need to coordinate their schedules. Natalie Portman is assigned to the screening "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," James McAvoy is going to work on "X-Men: First Class" and Tom Hanks is busy directing his own project "Larry Crown". Halle Berry is planning to play in "Club of anonymous shoesaholic", and then play on Broadway.
Some time ago to "Atlas" was attributed Wachowski (then the brothers). Whether Lana and Andy among the writers or producers of the project is an open question so far.
English actor Russell Brand departs from the comedy line and gets a chance to feel the real hero on the screen. Brand will play John Hawkwood, English mercenary Italian origin who lived in the 14th century.
Despite the fact that in a real-life Hawkwood was quite a serious figure, studio 20th Century Fox is going to make history of his life thriller with comedic twists. The script writes Jared Stern, among the works which "V" and "The Princess and the Frog".
John Hawkwood worked a tailor in London, when enlisted for military service to the English king Edward III. In 1360, he led a squad of mercenaries famous "White Company", gained fame as a warrior and nicknamed L'acuto (cool), which became his name. He fought against Florence, against the Pope, against the Emperor Charles IV. Directly responsible for the carnage in Cesena in February 1377, where, according to some estimates, killed 5,000 people. A few weeks after these sad events Hawkwood, or, as he was called in Italy, Giovanni Acuto, moved to the side of Florence.
Russell Brand learned the story of a mercenary and mentioned it in conversation with the head of the comedy department of the company Chernin Entertainment Nikki Wanstock. Previously, Wanstock worked with Jude Apatow, so familiar with the Brand through the films "Forgetting Sarah Marshal" and "Get him to the greed".
Also there were carried out the necessary researches and invited screenwriter Stern, also familiar with the Brand, because rewriting the script to the comedy "Arthur" remake, in which Russell is now shooting.
When Russell Brand will leave the Renaissance, is still unknown. In September this year, the actor can be seen in the drama "The Tempest" by Shakespeare. The film will close the 67th Venice Film Festival.
Once in the dvd store my inquisitive look came across the film "Wuthering Heights" Coky Giedroyc. At first I hesitated buy it or not, because the previous film adaptation disappointed me. Somewhere in the crumpled, cut plot, but somewhere short of the actors' role. But, reluctantly, I bought this movie. Now I don't regret about this.
Frankly, I just was stunned by this movie, as well as at one time with the book. Fine actors (but more on that later), a masterpiece of the operator and writer, the book passed with meticulous precision, costumes, scenery and mysterious Wuthering Heights.
In the film, the story is more on behalf of Kathy and Heathcliff, that unspeakably happy. Their relationship is better revealed, they are more intimate and detailed, they capture their sensuality and devotion at the beginning and the pride and passion again later. Deleted line Lockwood, the adaptation of the script, it simply is not needed.
Tom Hardy. Priceless, devilishly charming, devilishly sensual - just beyond praise. He is not like Heathcliff, he is Heathcliff. Just a phenomenon! Believe him when he kissed Kathy, hate him for the arrogant and haughty looks, you empathize him.
Charlotte Riley. Best Kathy. I'm not kidding, she is the best! Just one to one with a book. She is lively and sociable, she is cold and proud, she loves to loss of pulse and hates wholeheartedly. And in a scene and meeting with Heathcliff, three years later just want to scream - this is a real Kathy!
The movie does not compete with its parent, is discovered as an independent painting.
First, it has an amazing visual side. Stunning in all respects: whether its pajamas, or Wuthering Heights as whole, moors or rocks.
Secondly, it is the moments from which the heart ached. Heathcliff, in a trance embracing skeleton of Katherine, seeing before him a young and beautiful woman. Kathy blue from the cold hand, clinging to the bloody hands of Heathcliff. Kathy and Heathcliff having fun under the window. Smiling, looking into the distance Heathcliff look, a premonition of his death.
Third, it is music. Magic, cold, lively, tactile ... I very rarely look at titles, but in the case of this movie just did not have the strength to break away from these amazing sounds that will envelop you and transferred into their world - Yorkshire, heather, rocks and cold rooms of Wuthering Heights.
Looking at this amazing picture, do not blame Heathcliff or Kate, although, personally there has appeared so desire first. Yet, in spite of human vices (pride, vanity, revenge ....), you couldn't hide the Love on attic. And this story - a good proof of that.
Shooting at "Inception" sarcastic master of disguise Eams - Tom Hardy will replace Sam Worthington a McG's blockbuster comedy "This means war" with Chris Pine. The popularity of English actor continues to gain momentum. Already, few would raise questions of why Hardy won the leading role in a fourth part of "Mad Max".
"This means war" is in development as much since 1998. It has been rewritten the script, and changed directors and actors. In 2001, the main roles were approved by Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence. Leapfrog with casting continues to this day. Since the approval of the director's chair, McG only Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon are in their places. Role, which at first invited Bradley Cooper, moved to Sam Worthington, and now also to Tom Hardy.
The main characters of this comic thriller - two other spies. While they work together, everything is going well, but when they fall in love with the same woman, their friendship threatens to end. The subject of contention and become the heroine of Reese Witherspoon. The latest version of the script was written by Timothy Dowling ("Role Models").
Tom Hardy - a theater actor. He studied at the London Drama Centre at the former teacher of Anthony Hopkins. Filmed by Guy Ritchie in "RockRolla", played Heathcliff in the TV version of "Wuthering Heights", but gained worldwide fame only last summer, when appeared in "Inception" by Christopher Nolan. In October last year, the actor got the main role in the new "Mad Max". Since shooting a remake delayed until early next year, Hardy has a spare time.
In 2008, Tom Hardy played a British prisoner Charles Bronson, who has spent behind bars for 40 years and is considered the most dangerous criminal in England. For the role of "Bronson" actor was awarded British Independent Film Awards.
It is interesting that, like Chris Pine, Tom Hardy is also a part of the Star Trek universe. In 2002, he starred in "Star Trek: Nemesis", which became the 10th film of the famous franchise and one of its most commercially unsuccessful projects. Just behind him followed by a version of JJ Abrams, published last year.
After the release of the documentary "Hugh Hefner: Playboy, activist and rebel," which refers to the contribution of Hefner in civil rights and feminist movements, 84-year-old founder of Playboy magazine gave an interview to Daily News and spoke about his love for Viagra and blondes, about how he helped to legalize unmarried sex and about what is there not in his bedroom.
- What do you think about the movie? Are you fairly represented in it?
In general, yes. It is clear that the picture will not get, but I think that from this material, the audience learned a lot of new things for themselves. In some places, sex and my life has shown mixed. I think the director felt obliged to call another party, and I took advantage of this chance. I think that's why the movie has become more interesting. "
- What do you answer people who think that you are looking at women as sex objects?
"Allegations that Playboy makes women into sex objects - ridiculous. Women are this object from their birth. If they were asexual, the human race would cease to exist. The mutual attraction between sexes causes the earth's rotation. That's why ladies use lipstick and wear mini-skirts."
- Are there any "forbidden" things in the bedroom of Hugh Hefner?
"Actually, I am very decent guy. There were no horses, no reptiles ..."
- How do you deal with so many women?
"Sometimes to deal with a woman it is very difficult. I was married and remained faithful to my wife for eight years in the 80th, and then when we got divorced, the response to my failed marriage was a flirt with seven girls who lived in my home at the same time. And to live with seven women was easier than with the one.
- Does the sex change over the years?
"Not particularly. Thank God for Viagra. It destroys all the obstacles. But I am confident that over the years you accumulate experience, and it helps. Woody Allen said: "If you do not consider sex dirty then you're doing it wrong."
- Do you prefer blondes?
"No, my first wife was a brunette, and Barbie Benton, my main love in the early 70's, was also a dark-haired. But ever since I divorced my girls were blondes. I noticed that Picasso went through the "pink" and "blue" periods before he got to the abstract. Now, I am in the "bright" period."
- How can a simple guy to pick up a beauty girl?
"It's hard. My hairdresser said that when you reaches an average age the girls in the club looking through you. Personally, for me it's not true. I once asked to share the best way to pick up a girl, which I said: "The best way is to say:" Hi, my name is Hugh Hefner. "
- What are you most proud of in your life?
"I am proud that fact that I played an important role in changing our social and sexual values. Unmarried sex was not only forbidden, it was just illegal. Playboy helped to change those laws and regulations.
The fact that David Fincher is not even found the female heroine in the American version of the adaptation of "Girl with the Dragon tattoo" by Stig Larsson, does not stop Sony from launching continue. Stephen Zeyllyan received an offer to write a script.
Zeyllyan worked on the first book of the trilogy "Millennium" by Stig Larsson. Filming of David Fincher's "Girl with dragon tattoo" will begin this fall. The role of the journalist Mikael Blomqvist is approved by Daniel Craig. The actor has signed a contract to participate in all three adaptations of the cycle.
The same is to be an actress who will play companion Blomqvist in his investigations. On the role of net-runner Lisbeth Salander claimed several actresses who last week had to pass cast in costumes. Craig was also present at the cast: Fincher checked "screen chemistry" for future aspirants to the leading actor.
Stephen Zeyllyan now leads the final touches on the script "Girls with the Dragon tattoo". He is one of the executive producers of the film. Studio wants Zeyllyan immediately precede scenario in order to harmonize schedules of Craig. It is possible that the franchise of the 007 come to life and the movie "Cowboys and Aliens" is already scheduled the second part.
Trilogy "Millennium" immortalized in the name of its creator, Swedish journalist Stig Larsson. The author died at age of 50 from a heart attack, never having seen his triumph. His books have been dispersed around the world selling more than 27 million copies.
Perhaps, such question will arise and on you after watching a masterpiece movie by Alen Culter "Remember Me".
Almost all my life people struggling with their complexes, fears to themselves, winning the right to live just as they want, or at least try to do what they dream. Spending time in a quarrel with those who you most loved and protests against all many people are now living in anticipation, but when will the real life, forgetting that it has already started, and how long they will live is unknown to anyone.
The main hero of this drama is Tyler, a student and a laid-back person whose life is not going well. He does not know and does not understand what he wants out of life. The only bright person in his life who understands and loves him is his sister.
But once in his life, everything changes ... He finds the meaning of life.
Note that Robert Pattinson (Tyler) is not only played in the movie the most complex role, but also became its executive producer and, in fact, the second director. At the very least, he has created an erotic scene with Australian actress Emilie de Ravin, as he had imagined her when reading the script (by Fetters this scene was registered only in very general terms).
"If you want to understand what a year of life is, ask questions of the students who flunked the annual exam. If you want to understand what a month, ask a mother who gave birth to premature baby and waiting to get rescued from the incubation chamber.
If a week - ask someone who works on an assembly line or in a mine to feed his family. If the day - ask the lovers who are waiting for the meeting. If the hour - ask claustrophobic man who got stuck in the elevator. If a second - look at the facial expression that is in the thousandth of a fleeting moment escaped death, or ask an athlete who just won a silver medal at the Olympics instead of gold, for which he trained for all his life. "- Mark Levy, "Between Earth and Sky".
The film is very colorful, very vital. After watching it, you ask a question that must be addressed while at a young age.
I want to thank the entire crew. They did their best. Intrigue was extended through the entire movie.
Piercing, touching and tragic drama, in which a seemingly banal form has been hidden real philosophy of life, love and death, which can be understood only at the film final. Another success of "Summit Entertainment" and brilliant benefit of Robert Pattinson.
