Simon Fraser 17th Lord Lovat trivia
- Commander of the 1st Special Service Brigade of the British Army which
stormed Sword Beach on D-Day. To rally the troops, he asked
Bill Millin to play the bagpipes as they went ashore. Millin
played the bagpipes at Fraser's funeral.
- Although commonly known as the 17th Lord Lovat, in fact, he became the
15th Lord Lovat upon the death of his father in 1932, and the 25th
Chief of the Clan Fraser.
- Played by Peter Lawford in The Longest Day (1962).
- His wife was the aunt of Isabella Blow, and the daughter of Henry
John Delves Broughton, 11th Baronet Broughton, played by
Joss Ackland in White Mischief (1987).
