Matthew Marsden biography
British actor/singer Matthew Marsden is quickly making his way in
America. He began his acting career in the UK and rose to stardom from
his role on the long-running ITV series
Coronation Street, as Chris Collins. He left the show
to pursue a music and acting career in the US and hasn't looked back
since.
Since moving to the US, Marsden has been working successfully on feature
film, television and music. He starred in Ridley Scott's
Black Hawk Down and he was the lead in USA's epic movie
Helen of Troy (2003) (TV)
Marsden's career started in the UK with the series
Emmerdale Farm. He soon landed a series regular role on
the television series Island which led to
Coronation Street for which he was voted Top Newcomer
at the National Television Awards. He went on to star in the
independent drama Shiner, opposite
Michael Caine (I) and the film Les soeurs Soleil.
In addition, Marsden signed with Columbia Records and recorded the hit
single She's Gone, with 'Destinys Child, as well as a solo album
called Say Who.
Marsden earned his degree in performing arts at Middlesex University. He
was also a member of the acclaimed National Youth Theatre.

- An avid biker, he was taught to race superbikes by former world
champion, Ron Haslam.
- When shooting Shiner his trainer Richie Woodhall (Former
WBC Supermiddleweight Champion) said that he was a good enough boxer
off the screen to go pro.
- In 2004 he qualified as a PADI Divemaster.
- (November, 1998) 2nd single "She's Gone" featuring
'Destinys Child reached number 24 in the UK charts.
- (July, 1998) Début single "The Heart's Lone Desire" reached number 13 in
the UK charts.
- Frequently trains with members of the German Navy
Kampfschwimmerkompanie.
- Is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
- Since Black Hawk Down he has continued training with a
member of the German Navy's Kampfschwimmerkompanie for a future project
that he is producing.
- Is an avid fan of the English football team West Bromwich Albion.
- On Feb 23rd 2009 Marsden did a tandem free-fall from 13,500 feet with
the Army Golden Knights Parachute team.
