Grandmaster Caz trivia
- His group, Cold Crush Brothers, was once managed by
Big Bank Hank. Hank was offered the chance to join a rap group
and make the very first rap record. He had never rapped before and
asked to use Caz's lyrics with the promise that he would help the Cold
Crush Brothers get a record deal. The group Hank joined was The
Sugarhill Gang and the record was "Rapper's Delight" which became a
worldwide hit in 1979. The Cold Crush Brothers' record deal never
materialized. Caz never received any credit or compensation for writing
"Rapper's Delight".
